Reid's recording quality is very good for very basic equipment such as the interface and the microphone, knowing that they have a rack of pre-effects and analog equipment to record, I don't think that with a Scarlett interface and a microphone alone you will achieve At such a good level, you can insert effects into that daw for recordings without having to use previous ones, analog compressors and equalizers like the ones you have to record and reach that final product, taking out the mixing process that we already know.
@@Mandingo_Cule There's no extra processing happening beyond what you see here. all that analog gear is powered off. You're hearing free plugins & low budget recordings. You could have argued the acoustic treatment is helping, but the analog gear is simply props in the background for this tutorial
KARRA! You done did it again. Thanks so much. I already use some of these but seeing your flow is always so inspiring and helps me get motivated so record something and learn. One question though, do you run it through your hardware EQ and compressor before LUNA?
All my analog hardware was off, and didn’t get used in this process. I purposely challenged myself to see how good it could sound with only budget gear, free plugins, free DaW, and headphones for mixing & mastering
Good soundcard and mic, don't need much work in mixing, my $70 mic, and $60 audio interface, even if I mix with expensive plugins, it still sounds awful. Remember, it's not because of your mixing skills, but because of your equipment.
Switch to AT2020 mic and ATH- M30x and you got a real budget home studio. Luna is dope too. You're definitely gonna give people inspiration with this video. TDR Nova for EQ, and Graillon for auto tune too... There's hope for the people out here!
Can someone explain why my At2020 sounds like shit, i use audio box go presonus but sound of the mic is so trash and not clean after equalization i get better but that is not that sound
@@crazybassist5439 maybe the conversion on your audio box is not very good. A good mic with a bad interface can make it sound bad. Or it could be that you're just recording too loud
@@doubleaceprod oh see, i dont think about this.. but this interface good rated from the users and loot producers, myb is problem in my voice im always have mud but when listen my voice direct in the ear its so good and clean vocal never heard this unatural resonans that this mic makes ☹️, and always resonate from the 130hz to the 600/700, dont know how to fix it.. when i use polish with eq im also losse vocal fullnes.. this card rec at the 24/96, but i think i get fake At2020 mic its not original. I buyed in the store in my city but not get any guarante for him I payed for mic 110$ Dont know what to think and also litlle noise is here in background

It's so validating to see you play around with the high cut frequencies with your vocals in a way that looks similar to what I've been doing. Sometimes I feel like I'm not doing it correctly, but you showed me that I know more than I gave myself credit for. This was a great video! Also, your blue top is perfect with that environment. @@VirginiaBluesOG The 4th generation Scarlett 2i2 has a "Clip Safe" button that makes it literally impossible to clip your interface! Many devices are implementing this as well as autogain

Yo Karra, on Luna how do you monitor(reverb) on one track and record on the other? When I try to click monitor on my reverb track then on my record track I click record it deselects the monitor on my reverb track.
Only Enable the “i” button on the headphone reverb channel. On the mic recording channel i use the red dot and mute button so i don’t hear myself twice. 👍🏻
Hi Karra, I am from Argentina ( I s not easy in my Country to study Musical Production in english, because is very expensive... been a musician here, studyng composition at the moment. But thanks to youtube I learn every day. We have here on my city, great Musical Producers: I am a( Begginer Musical Producer ). Beginer learning piano. I learned about Trackink, Pre- Production and edition at the moment. I dont have a choice (use only free plugins ) but, you can be very creative with less also. The most important thing is the audio equipment you record with and the isolated room. Record in a normal place and with simple capabilities, you will not get satisfactory results.
I have the same mic and audio interface but my raw vocal was soo muddy that i need use 2-3 eq to clear that mess is there gear problem or audio driver problem i have this issue on laptop but on pc sound far better.
Last week they announce windows PC compatibility for the first time. New updates are available almost daily for bug fixes and improvements. I’m sure with time it will be as smooth as mac
@iamkarramusic it's very true the last update made things work alot better! That's why the crashing was my only issue! It was a great video and now it's more stable yay.
How dobyiu get that quality . Even the unmixed vocals sound as if they have been processed . I have always felt like we hear processed vocals posing as if they are raw😂 you should try to record vocals in untreated room and make a video...but whatever they have going on in that studio its magic
The raw vocals are completely raw! Here's a few tips: Record a trained vocalist, Use good Acoustic treatment, use a pop filter, use optimal mic distance to match the dynamics of your performance, use the 4th generation Scarlett 2i2, it sounds significantly better than previous generations, use a condenser microphone, and use each plugin subtly!
why you dont say, you are using a pre amp with eq and compressor before entering the daw ? that's why it sounds so good, irs cool to make people known they can do a really great job with free plugins but it's sad to make them think they are going to sound with this great quality without a good pre amp with already some eq and compression, you can tell by the waveforms....come on guys... if you record the setup with just the pre amp f the focusrite and no eq and no compression you know pretty well it's not going to sound like that !!!!! tired of these music youtubers making people think they are going to sound like that just because they can purchase a focusrite scarlett
Dont get me wrong I love your tutorials, you are an amazing singer but before you started add effects on the vocals it already sounded really good you cant achieve that with just a focusrite and that mic, also the waveforms looks everything so even those vocals already sounded like money and beside you being a good singer, having a great acoustic you are already doing something to your mixbux or a parallel vocals bus or something don't try to fool amateur people who click on this and then try everytjing you said and theyre not gonna be even 30% close to the quality of this vocals...if it were so simple everyone just bought a focusrite a decent mic and thats it a million dollar sounding vocal recording, come on..@@iamkarramusic

Most beats you buy off the internet have been mixed and mastered by the producer. This is a very common real-world situation for singers buying beats or collaborating with beat makers
