Kikuri may have a huge alcohol addiction problem, but her switching from cardboard bricks to bottles of sake saved the entire concert and gave us one of my favorite moments in anime history - Bocchi's improvised slide-solo.
TBH, Kikuri's backstory is kinda pitiful when she told it briefly... She's destroying her liver so early in life just to numb her emotions... Before it really get out of hand, if you have a friend like her then you should spare at least some effort to help her...
Among the most common alcohol drinks, sake is by far the healthiest Which doesn't means you can over-consume it, but it's isn't that bad either, even if you over-consume it (not recommended at all, drink water M@#_F÷*!$£R)
You know, it's scenes like this that show that Kikuri is kind of a tragic character if anything. She's so drunk that she has next to no control of herself, she has to be restrained for causing a disturbance, she derails most of her performances, she leaves her instrument in a bar, other people are repulsed by her, and her friends have basically just grown accustomed to this, all because it makes Kikuri calmer and happier. It's crazy that there is genuine potential here for a story about how her alcohol addiction is destroying her life in basically every way. It's mostly a comedy, but once you start thinking about Kikuri, you realize just how messed up her situation is. Hopefully Bocchi doesn't go down her path, and hopefully Kikuri snaps out of it and does what's really best for herself.
I feel like, with how much this show focuses on growth, that eventually Kikuri will have to come face to face with her extreme case of alcoholism and will grow past it because of Bocchi's own growth.
love that her design is basically bocchi's but changed in just the right places to feel a lot more unkempt. they were not kidding about bocchi the peak
@@meatmeatmeatmeatmeatmeatmeatme pink hair with roughly similar shape, similar jacket + skirt combo, similar first names & clear delineation of similar bkgds/traits; i may be reading into it way too much since they aren't unique attributes to these characters specifically & with the names that's because they crib from actual musicians but idk i like that textually & design wise you can draw the lines from one to the other and also it's a fun way to stim 🤷
@@bzenga5981 also the fact that bocchi has a flash forward of herself going down the same path. I don't think you are reading to much into this, she is the 'bad ending' for bocchi.
@@stefschouwenaars9562 it's ambivalent in a way. she's a model figure for bocchi and also a complete wreck but the manga and anime still generally respect her so probably just a kindred spirit with a remarkably long list of flaws
kikuri is one of those people you think is hilarious because you only see her 1 or 2 times a month but will be an absolute nightmare to deal with daily like bochi and co.
Idk in japan or other country but, i did what she did at graduation event festival and bring 3 bottle of Vodka and 5 Soju in a box and tell the security to stfu and bribe them with a bottle of vodka😅🤣🤣. It's absolute chaos 😅.
If Azumanga Daioh has Yukari, then this show has this sick hack. Still, her being there dead drunk did save the band in the end. Guess the beer gods were smiling for the band's wellbeing at the time.
in the manga Kikuri really needs shoulder and neck massages because Seika applies a lot of judo holds on her! Apparently Seika was also in the judo club at the College! 😆👌💛💜
without kikuri hiroi bochi would not perform on cultural festival we should thank her that gotoh hitori is developing because of her advices a great senpai for kessoku band though she need to moderate her drinking 😂
I think it was born out of irony. Since wishing them good luck could either jinx them or make them anxious - letting them off with something negative with a positive connotative meaning would counter said jinx. Weird
if u wish someone luck in that context, the superstition is that they'll be unlucky, like jinxing. so u wish the opposite with a positive tone, so they don't think u actually want them to break their leg
I’ve heard it originated from theater auditions as a sort of hidden pun. If you break a leg, you end up in a cast (the medical kind). If you audition for a play, your goal is to end up in a cast (the theatrical kind). Then again, it might just be because stage actors are notoriously superstitious.

After catching up to the manga seeing it in anime form again is funnier, more enjoyable and amazing, the crew really gave it their all with this one, the VA's, Sound Design, Animation and Music are all great. Can't wait for season 2.
I legit hope that they stage an intervention for Kikuri at some point in this show. She's such a wonderful person so it breaks my heart to see the severity of her alcoholism. People that drink this much IRL die young or get brain damage. I just wanna see her get help because she is really kind and talented.
the manga author? she’s based on a real life bassist/vocalist in the band 88kassyo Junrei. the vocalist for the band is “Margaret Hiroi” which is where her name comes from.
