@@J-qp3mvmad at someone’s opinion, oh boy 😉 On a serious note, Pixel 2 (especially the 2XL) was instrumental in bringing attention and interest in Google’s phones. Yes, the screen had some defects, but the rank given to it here is just plain criminal! 😁
@@alsimanche no issues with heat, but I'm not gaming on it. Only cellular reception isn't as good as my wife's Samsung. Overall the best phone I've had, will upgrade to the Pixel 9 this year :)
That's a shame the 4XL is so far down the list; it's still a phone I use now, have kept it pristine/like new and it's still the camera I benchmark other Android phones against... I love my 15 Pro Max and Pixel 8 Pro - but the 4XL is the phone I go back to the most; its camera is still superb and very neutral IMO
Exactly the same! I took it on holiday to Dubai with my 15 PM. The dual cameras make it a beast for portraits plus of course unlimited uploads. I am team telephoto over ultra wide any day. I have 2 of them as managed to get another one brand new last year. Had by far the most unique features and I loved how it senses when you reach for it and that it had the same ability to adapt colour tones of the display that was for ages only on that and the iPhone because of soli and Face ID.
OK, you're making me think I'm not crazy. I had a 4a and whenever they come up on my Google Home screen, they just look super crisp and good. I honestly want to get one to compare side by side with my Pixel 7 because all logic says that the 7 should be better, but there is just something about that 4 model... unless it's pure coincidence that I took a lot of good pictures during that time. But I don't think so.
Ive owned the pixel 7 pro and now the 8 pro. Love the 7 as its been my first android experience after 10 generations of iphone and i fell in love with android and the curved edges. With the 8 pro now, honestly its even better. Less heat more battery. I also own an s24 ultra for my second sim card and compared to that the chip is still a little bit slower but honestly for the software and cameras, the pixel is still my phone the year
The pixel 2XL and 4XL were by far the superior portrait mode capturing pixels. My experience with the 2XL was far different than everyone else's, as I somehow was able to get one with absolutely none of the many problems which people experienced with the 2xl display.
I LOVED the Pixel 2 XL, for a coupla reasons, but one BIG reason was the two stereo FRONT firing loud speakers! GREAT for watching content. Having had the Motorola Google Nexus 6 (6" Quad HD display, Dual front firing stereo speakers and many other great features of the day (it was the alternate to the similar specced Samsung Note 4)), it too was fantastic for watching RU-vid/TV series/Movies & such! 👌 😎🇬🇧
I have a Pixel 6a, it cost £199 after getting a £200 cashback deal. Amazing camera, made of chocolate, finger print reader is the worst ever. Bit buggy. But for £199 its still great value.
Pixel 6 and 6 pro aren't bad at all after all these updates, im talking about a good battery and less heat while charging. the cellular issue still occurs tho but it didn't deserve the last position imo.
9:30 you call the pixel 7 and 7 pro the "predecessor" to the pixel 6 and 6 pro. The word you're looking for is "successor." E.g. "the pixel 6 and 6 pro were the worst pixels on our list, can it's successor do any better?" All that said, love the show
As a Pixel 4, 6 and 8 owner I agree that the 8 is the best, but in my heart 4 will always have a special place, expecially my Oh so orange version. Its battery life was terrible, but hey, that's what power banks are for.
My pixel 6 woke up one morning and totally refused coming back on ,it was totally dead ,the technician told me the motherboard had died and needed to be replaced .I used it for over 2years though !
You've likely already called out on this one, but I'll say it anyway: You mentioned the Pixel/Pixel XL as being carrier locked to Verizon. I was already a Google Fi customer and bought my PXL through the Fi store to replace my Nexus 6. The phone was easy to get unlocked as well. I still use the PXL when I just plan to snap lots of pictures due to original quality for life, I Even added the limited blue Pixel (non-XL) version to my collection. I really, really, liked the P4XL. I wish the soli sensor and face unlock of that version continued into later phones. The only reason I didn't keep my P4XL was the screen broken and the cost to fix it was just too high, trade-in value, even with the damage, was a better option, and I was really interested in getting my hands on the then new P6P with its Tensor chip. I currently daily the P8P, it's the best general use Pixel yet. And I do use the temp sensor regularly with Fitbit since the update that enabled body temperature. But just a note on the Pixel 5 and why it was a downgrade from the 4. I still believe that was a plan to make the first phone with the Tensor chip look better than it really was. Had the 5 gotten similar updates as Pixels of previous years, their Tensor chip could not have exceeded the 5s performance. So, when the 5 came out they had to downgrade it because even the Pixel 4 was sometimes faster than the 6.
I am currently using Pixel 7 ... Software experience is I love it. I have used samsung, oneplus before but loved Pixel... This is the only device i didnt use my Nova premium launcher. The issue with pixel device is its cellular modem and heating issue... Especially if ;you are in India and during Summer it gets really hot. so i stopped background usage for many apps and turned off 5g ( because it constantly switches between 4g and 5g and call drop occurs) and its having much much better battery but not the best. Decent overall batter which is enough for me. Maybe in the festival sale will exchange for Pixel 8 base variant
The nexus 5 was the one that convinced me to buy google phones. The pixel 2xl is what made me a pixel fanboy. I bought that thing 5 years ago and it is still going strong. Just bought the 7A. Once again a smooth experience.
i bought the pixel 6 about half a year after launch and i had no problem with it whatsoever, was the best phone i ever had until there was an amazing trade in deal with the pixel 8, now that phone is my new favourite phone and i really love that phone, the only downside is that they removed the routines feature where my phone was set to loud when i was at home and set to silent when i was out (because of the connection with my wifi)
Pixel 4xl could have been a legend device if google had incorporated the below things 1. 4500 mAh battery (instead of 3700 mAh) 2. Brighter display (1000 nits instead of 450 nits) 3. Ultra wide lens on the back and front.
Completely agree with the rated order here. I am a very very Very proud owner of the OG Pixel XL & 3XL. Absolutely loved the devices. Surprisingly, when the Android 10 Beta arrived on the OG Pixel XL, it worked better than my 3XL. Unfortunately the phone just died out of no where & just didn't boot up after a couple of months of lying unused :( Still have my 3XL although the glass on both the front & back are completely shattered 🙈 then moved out of the Pixel line due to the Tensor Chip. Wish Google had stuck with Snapdragon chips. 4/5 years of s/w updates is perfectly good time & in general Most people use their phones for that long only since the batteries begin to age drastically, etc. I bet No one is going to be using their Pixel 8s for 7 years LOL.
Mine wasn't on this list... the Pixel 3a. Simply, because it lived up the "Nexus" line up the most. Affordable, amazing camera, headphone jack and good software. I'm also a big fan of polycarbonate bodies like the 3a, and they made it even better by putting a metal plate in it for extra weight and stability. I didn't care that it had a mid-tier processer, it never slowed me down and the battery life was good. 3a joins my top 3 best phones ever, up there with iPhone 4S and Nexus 4
Pixel 6 in last place immediately discredited this video. The fingerprint issue was quickly fixed, and it's a super all-round workhorse phone. It marked a new epoch for Google, and it's still very much in the new platform format. Not sure why I even bothered to watch this video in the first place 🙂!
P4 was the best phone by far. They just have to improve on this platform. Squeeze to assist means u dont need to say the weird hey google command, face unlock was the best out there because soli radar was doing its thing. Design and materials flagship standard. Cameras amazing. The only thing missing was bigger battery, thinner bezels, brighter screen and tune the soli radar. What i was expecting from P5 actually
The horrible battery on the pixel 4 alone should have made it last place, the pixel 6 didn't deserve that, especially considering that the pixel 6 is what basically started the brand new design language for the pixel line and has been working spectacularly for the past 3 generations.
I think Pixel 4/4XL is the most unique pixel, at least feature wise, and also the best looking. Besides, cameras are the peak of Marc Levoy work before leaving Google
I owned Pixel2, Pixel5 and now Pixel7Pro and to my surprise, Pixel5 was the best Pixel I ever owned. The resin+metal material, its perfect size and great battery life, made my daily use experience fantastic!! Best of all worlds as far as materials are concerned! Metal for rigidity, hard plastic for ruggedness and no need for cases! It is infuriating that everyone uses glass! Glass is glass and glass breaks! But hey, cases need to be sold too, right? 😏
I agreed with most of the list except the placement of the OG pixel series. This is my list: 1. Pixel 8 series 2. Pixel 7 series 3. Pixel 2 series 4. Pixel 3 series 5. Pixel 5 6. Pixel 1 series 7. Pixel 4 series 8. Pixel 6 series
Pixel 4xl and 5 easily far superior that 8 & 7 in durability and battery life. Face unlock in the dark on 4xl was so nice. 7 is a trash phone. Even with a 100$ case the screen would still break. I never had the issues with four and five. 8 is better but the battery life just doesn't hold up to 4&5
Finally ditched my Pixel 6A 15 months, the frustration of sketchy signals is real! Especially when you live at a tropical signal tower weak spot, it also stewing my palm. Not to mention the slow...... nvm Well I just wish they would fix the hardware, others are perfect!!! The design, the os...
Only the placement of pixel 6 is super weird, otherwise a really great list. I don't get it tho, even by your own arguments it's not the worst. like listening to you talking about pixel 4 and 2, I thought they both sound worse than what he said about pixel 6
I care more about usability. I dont care if p2 had bezels that planes could land on.. I could use with one hand easily. Pixel 5 is probably the best though even with the crappy chip downgrade decision.
Same here, it wasn't the best at anything, it wasn't the worst. However the size and feel were just wonderful. That paper like back, I would love to have on any phone instead of the now standard slippery glass. Very decent battery life too, after 3 years it still got me through a day without a worry of running out. After "upgrading" to a Pixel 8 pro, I had to start carrying a power bank again.
Same here, I Love it. It is starting to show is age, but I think I can hold out until the Google 9 to replace it. The fingerprint sensor is still iffy, usually works about half the time, but I don't really get annoyed by it, I'm use to it.
I really liked my pixel 6 pro too, only reason I upgraded to the 8 pro was because the screen got destroyed. My favorite was the pixel 4xl but now my favorite is 8 pro, I think it's a great phone
Only the 3XL, the 3 was great. And the extras you gained with the Pixel Stand have been great as well. Only downside of the Pixel 3 has been its bad battery life. Because the used a POLED on the smaller one...
I wouldn't call the 3 great compared to the XL. The battery life was still shit on the 3. After a year you needed an upgrade just for the battery lol. I do however love that call screening debuted on the device.
@@frankniethardt1813 yeah I have it still in the draw it was ok but to say it was higher than the 4xl which was amazing or the 5 which was a great phone with brilliant battery life is just wrong
I have the Google Pixel 6a and the Pixel 8 Pro and I think you should do a video on the A-series. They might be the more budget version, but they seem to have better releases with fewer bugs and issues unlike the bigger phones they came from. The 4a was arguably one of the best of the A-series and closely followed by the 6a whose photos dominated the blind photo test by MKBHD.
Watching from Google pixel 3a. I am owning it for 4 years. The battery isn't as it was before so now I am starting to plan a new purchase. Thank you for the video. I guess I will go for Google pixel 8a ❤
I love my pixel 8 Pro though I do really miss my 4XL. It had so many cool features that made it stand out as a pixel. I loved the design and feel. I had the pixel 2XL and the 6 pro when they were released and I wasn't too keen on either. The 8 pro is definitely where it should be on that list. The 4XL should be placed higher in my opinion.
@@thedarkknight1971 I could care less about a bezel free phone. i want front facing speakers. but google loves to listen to these big time reviewers instead of the actual consumers.
Watching this from my Pixel3. A pretty satisfying phone with a very satisfying size in hand. Its battery capacity is draining, but I think that's normal for an aged phone. Still having unlimited upload to Google Photos in Storage Saver mode is a plus.
lol I waited until the bugs were fixed before I bought the pixel 6 at a much lower price so maybe that is biasing me but I never had any serious issues with the pixel 6 besides the fingerprint sensor. I'm still using it and plan to upgrade to the pixel 9 next (been waiting for that new design refresh).
I had them all and this is my opinion 1 Pixel 8 Pro 2 Pixel 7 Pro 3 Pixel 5 4 Pixel 6 Pro 5 Pixel 2 XL 6 Pixel 4 XL 7 Pixel 1 8 Pixel 3 XL is the worst!
Wtf my pixel 6 has no connectivity issues, no fingerprint issues, no heating issues, no slow charge, has all the new features its predecessors launched with. And the price for picking a refurbished one up these days is AMAZING. The review should not have been made with just the conditions at launch in mind
I think quality control was the biggest issue here. You could have a perfectly working or some *meh* ones just based on luck. The 7 was better but I clearly remember the 7 pro I got was hot as hell, returned it, and the regular 7 I got after was working like a charm with no heating issues. Same processor but not the same feeling. The 8 seems more consistent, I hope for a great 9!
I honestly loved my 6 pro for about a year. It was perfect until the update to android 13. Once the update dropped, it messed up the phone too much for me to use comfortably. I couldn't play any media on the device and being able to take photos and videos was inconsistent. Sometimes the camera app would stop working all together and I'd have to restart my phone. Sometimes it'd freeze and restart itself. Even factory resetting the device couldn't fix it.
The first Pixel was not carrier locked to Verizon in the US unless you got it from Verizon. If you bought it straight from Google it came carrier unlocked.
What he meant was it was a Verizon exclusive. And it wasn't carrier locked even if you bought the Verizon variant. I used to sell the Verizon variant to AT&T customers. It worked, because the phone didn't lock to VZW. I think what I had to do was activate it on VZW then you could switch the Sim.
I had the Pixel 2 and Pixel 4 XL. The Pixel 2 was the best camera I have ever had and the speaker were amazing to watch youtube because they were towards me. The pixel 4 XL was the camera upgrade I really wanted and the experience with high refresh rate display was amazing! Definitely the two best phones in the Pixel line up!
The pixel 4 had a better camera than literally every pixel that came after it, and I've racked my brain trying to understand why the hell that could possibly be. I've come to the conclusion that Google degrades the pixel's camera little by little over the entire year following the release of its newest pixels, That's the only logical reason why a person who owns a pixel 4 and a pixel 8, can take photos with each, and then compare the photos side by side, wont see much of a difference. Its because the pixel 4s camera isn't capable of capturing the kind of photos which we remember them capturing! Nobody else notices, because they degraded the cameras capabilities over time, and through so-called updates.
I forget the name of the guy who went to adobe. Basically he was the main man and he perfectly the computational photography using 12mp sensor that was used until the 6 (and still in the 6a which won award as best camera from MKBHD). In my opinion 4XL was the best and it’s taken up until late in the 7 Pro release (just before the 8 Pro) to catch up with the old work.
This is a random comment but I actually use my pixel 8 thermometer about weekly as I am an aquarium keeper and I find it very convenient to use my phone to check the temperature rather than having a thermometer in each tank
My list from best to worst: Pixel 2 XL Pixel 8 Pro Pixel 6 Pro Pixel 7 Pro Pixel 4 XL Pixel XL Pixel 5 Pixel 3 XL Of course Pixel 3 is the worst I have ever seen 😂
The Pixel 5 got a lot of heat at launch but in the end I still say it was the best Pixel made so far. It wasn't top of the line but it had a great feel in the hand, all day battery and everything just worked. I only upgraded to an 8 because the battery was finally starting to go out. I would have simply bought another Pixel 5 but the 8 has more radio frequencies being a newer model. Luckily, the 8 is close to the same size as the 5 but I still miss my old 5 from time to time.
I have a Google Pixel 6 and I wouldn't call it the best pixel phone but I never had bad cellular connectivity, my phone never heats up, It charges pretty decently fast, and the fingerprint scanner works great. I really wnted to upgrade to the Pixel 8 but my Pixel 6 was working just fine and so I decided to wait for the Pixel 9 to come out before I upgrad my phone.
I miss my pixel 5 all the time! the fingerprint reader on the back the camera set up and it was perfect in hand. I have a Pixel 8 and have had the OG Pixel and Pixel 3 but the 5 will always be in my heart
4XL is my favourite. One of the only android phones to have true face unlock. Sad that the 4 have drawn it down. Had more unique features than any prior before or since and I never had any issues with battery.
The Pixel 6a alone is a GREAT phone in 2024. I know both the 6 and 6 Pro were disappointing with overheating and the 6 Pro's other issues. And the 7 series were even worse with overheating! So 100% agree on the 8 line-up to trump them all. Looking forward to the rumoured Pixel 8a just around the corner now :) I only tried the 3a from previous Pixel's and it had horrible battery life but a cute form factor.
I'm still using my 4 XL because it runs perfectly fine. I love the face scan biometric feature for both unlocking the phone but for unlocking Bitwarden, my password manager. You can pry my 4 XL from my cold dead hands.
Don't like the list at all. I had a 2XL which I replaced with a 4 which was then replaced with a 6 Pro. Never had a problem with any of them except maybe the battery life on the 4. Kept the 6 Pro for three years because I thought it was great and have now replaced it with a 9 Pro XL which you will undoubtedly rate poorly. Come on guys the 5 was a mid range phone at best and for that alone it should be last.
1. 8 Pro - awesome but my battery life is becoming questionable 2. 7 Pro - good but had zoom calls drop due to heat issues one too many times. 3. 4 XL - i still miss this phone sometimes, it was so sleek. 4. Pixel 2 - absolutely loved this phone. 5. Pixel 1 - OG Phone 6. Pixel 5 - too average in everything 7. 6 Pro - I had so many damn bugs 🪲 🪲 🪲 🪲 8. 3XL - last place for the damn notch alone
I'm looking for a new phone today and pixel 7 or 7a keeps coming up as list toppers (for budget phone). Really mixed reviews on which is better. I'm not super techy, just like a good battery, camera and one that will remain usable for more than 3years (updates). I had and loved a pixel 4 (from memory) bought circa 2013.i loved the design. Was great untill I dropped it and damaged the functionality.
Omg! Memories... Pixel 1 from honor was quite an experience.... amazing camera. Bought 2xl thrice when it got lost...amazing front speakers....after it broke down....the 3xl....the wide angle selfie camera...still love it. I got the 4a then ..meh battery....nothing special really..... Battery in all the devices seem to be the issue... wore down quickly...and some say, softer glass. Will get an upgraded version soon.
1,2,4,6,7 .... The best imho, 1 then 2 then 7, then 4, lastly 6 - all XL variants. The one with unlimited storage, the squeeze to trigger the assistant, the 7 with good 3 camera integration (fcuk ing finally) , 4 with soli (liked), 6 major disappointment (nfl calling it a pik 6 and promoting it, but underwhelming in every aspect. $.02
I have been using 3a XL for almost 3 years, and I like photos taken with it better than my husband's new iPhone done. Yes the unlimited storage is really handy. Thinking of upgrading it to the newest pixel but kinda hard to move on. Watching and reading comments here maybe I will get a 4 instead of an 8.
For the price pixels pretty good bang for buck I have 1-4 and the 7 people complain about a phone getting hot but youse it for hours straight even when charging tf you think is gonna happen
Pixel 6 worst phone ive ever had. Numerous problems and its been replaced twice by google. Still sucks. So bad im here to see if another pixel is worth it. I loved my pixel 4
I still think that pixel 3 was the best. Pixel 4 had much more fierce competition and Huawei P30 Pro was just the next level compared to pixel 4 and 4 xl. Pixel 5 was a pixel 5 and pixel 6(right now in my pocket) warms me up in cold evenings, but thats not whats expected from the phone, lol. Pixel 8 just caught up to the level of pixel 3 at a time
I am surprised that the 6th is last, if it weren't for it dropping the SD slot (something I am still salty about and will continue to be, but I am in the process of accepting this faith and with 512 GB or more storage it could be tolerable giving other need features like bidirectional wireless chairing) I would have switched back then because I find the design very pleasing (the 9 Pro is looking fine in the current renders (nice that they finally have more handier version again), best design since the 6 but I want to wait and see the performance first). Also the complaints about bezels is a big nothing burger for me I simple never see it as that problematic - I am even fine with the one on the Pixel fold and don't necessarily need a punch hole selfie cam, to me the whole might be slightly more annoying then slightly thicker borders or a teardrop, I know I am pretty much alone in this but yeah). As for the others I can't say much.
The Pixel 6 was a TOTAL disaster,...bugs galore.....none EVER fixed. I own a 7a ....its good, but nowhere near as good as my old galaxy s20 fe. Pixel devices just aren't that great.
Pixel 8 pro is my first android phone In 7 years. Been using an iPhone since then and so far so good. A few hiccup that might be on me because I’m not used to the android OS but The charging in my opinion is fast than the iPhone. My only real problem is with Bluetooth and android Auto. I have to constantly turn Bluetooth on and off for it to work and android auto doesn’t connect instantly like Apple CarPlay. I have to connect manually for it to work.
