You should include some footage with and without the microphone to give people an idea of what the stock audio sounds like how much better it is with the microphone. Other than that great video thanks
Cool comparison video. You probably know, but a company called Ulanzi came out with a case that has a holder for the gopro audio adapter. Makes for an even cleaner vlogging setup.
Excellent video. Thanks for putting this together and sharing with us. I've been using the GoPro 7 and really have issue with the audio.. I think I can use something like this in my vehicle as well. Thanks again!
This is a great setup but I think. I've found the BEST setup for blogging with a GoPro....have you heard of the "BACKBONE SIDEARM"? I've been using it for a few months now.....its even better then the cage.
I love that mic but wish they offered a much smaller wind blocker that big ass fuzz ball always creeps into my shots I trim it but if it turn a bit boom
Great looking set-up, sure seems like the GoPro Hero 7 is moving in the right direction for VLog's and Outdoor adventures. 99.5% of all my videos are of outdoor adventures. I love everything outdoors. It would be nice to see GoPro design a similar setup to yours but with a means of keeping it water proof or at least rain resistant. Love the idea of a better mic for the GoPro. This could really work for me in the future. Thanks for sharing. I like the shotgun directional mic's the best for what I do and now I'll be looking into this camera. I have the Hero 4 Silver but I think it's time for an upgrade to the 7 black... Great vid. 95% of my last video I did was with the Hero 4. Use to use the GoPro sometimes to support my Canon VIXIA but lately I've been using the GoPro more a my main camera. You've got me thinking...
Nice setup... I like the way you verbally get through the the material quickly but it would be really helpful if you could hold your hand(s) steady for more than more than a few micro seconds when you are showing something to the camera...
Nice job! Is there a link for the windscreen? (If yes, I must have missed it.) I know there are many but I’d like to use the one you’ve found works. Thanks!
Great video Hiker J- One question. How far out will the last mic you used reach? 10,20, 30, 50 feet? Or what mic would you recommend for this purpose? Thank you
I try to be no more than 4 feet away from this mic. It's made to be close. If you need to be farther away I think you would need to use a lapel mic, wireless or cabled.
A few questions brother. In that version of the Aluminum case does someone have to remove the door to use the mic. Also I have a glass screen protector for the back screen. It kinda sticks on. Is there enough room for a micro additional increase in thickness or will the case's back door get stuck on it. How much play is there for the Gopro inside the case. I am looking to setup the Gopro Hero 7 black for times when needing to save on pack weight and bulk. Plus for bad weather outings. Thanks and good video.
Hello MegaWoodswalker, you can connect the mic with the camera in the case. The case has the side cut out to allow you to plug in the mic, but you do have to have the waterproof door on the side of the camera off in order to do that. As for the back panel catching on the screen protector I think it might, it is a tight fit. I would go for the one without the back door and just use the pressure screw on the side.
Hey great video. Thanks for the links but any chance you can add the hot shoe extra and how does it attach. Writing from Oz and it would seem you guys are way ahead of us in Go pro. Cheers G.
@@HikerJ Thanks for all your help parts have been ordered expact some deliveries starting next week. Can i ask one more question , it may be self explaining once it arrives but how do i attach this cold shoe to the go pro case ? Thanks Grant
Hi, is it possible to film in 4k 60fps using linena view and stabilisation all at the same time with the Gopro 7? I also use the Gopro 4 and was thinking of upgrading ;)
And another question: I notice that you are plugging the Rode mic directly into the GoPro 3.5 adapter WITHOUT using a TRRS to TRS adapter. Do I even need the TRS adapter? (I talked to GoPro support about this issue and they recommended that I purchase the TRRS to TRS adapter in order to "avoid issues". If you found this adapter to not be necessary, is there a setting in the Hero 7 preferences that you used to avoid "any issues"?)
Even for beginners I would go with the RODE mic is a little more cash but so worth it. I have used mine for 3 years now and it keeps on giving me great audio. Audio is so important when creating content its worth the investment.
Personally, I don't trust those little doors to keep the Hero 7 waterproof. I treat mine just like the older 3/3+/4 Hero cameras if it goes in the water, I bought a dive case that fits the 5/6 and 7 just so I have to make a conscious effort to know it's water sealed properly.
Your video and audio are completely out of sync. I suspect a voice over. The GoPro Black is amazing but the additional box for audio just ruins it. BTW: the black version is the model with all the features.
@@HikerJ Wish I knew mate. It's 89 bucks. Talk about captive audience. If it was 15 here, I'd already have one. Instead I'll sit and wait in the hope that an after market cheaper one comes out. Sucks, big time.
@@DENMONKEY Try to see if they have this one over there geni.us/GoproCasewithMic ULANZI V2 Its the one I have been using for the last few months. Its cheap here not sure about your area.
@@HikerJ thanks for the reply mate. The cage is about the same price. Got one for under 20 bucks but it's the audio dongle which is the thing that's expensive down here. ah. now i realise your above comments, you were referring to the cage. We were on a different page there for a sec.
