In this video, I shared the exact step-by-step strategy of writing a great summary. Here are some points I covered in this video:
1. Cut the redundant phrases
2. Shorten the sentences
3. Use transition words
In GCE O Level English (1123), summary writing is the second part of the first question - 1 (b). And it is connected to 1 (a) - Writing the content points.
The word limit for summary writing is 150-180 words. If you want to ace this topic, you have to follow the word limit strictly.

Can I use examples in summary?And write lines which are from passage but related to content point?For eg a content point is written without example and in summary passage I write that content point but with example from passage.Is it ok>can u clarify this doubt.Anyone please tell me ehats the structure.Thankyou

it's usually advisable not to include examples. I think you can add content related to the main points but use connecting words like additionally, furthermore etc.

@@sl0745 content related part is when there is additional info besides the main part ... so for example: The olive is mentioned in several abrahamic religions and it's branch was used to signify the end of the flood in the tale of Noah's ark. Additionally, olive oil was used in the past to anoint kings and priests. the extra content is the part after 'additionally', good luck with whatever you need summary writing for 👍 I have an exam tomorrow so am scouring the internet for tips

@@sl0745 the example I gave is already a summarized version of a passage, the original one was: The olive is also featured as a symbol of peace and holiness in the Quran and Holy Bible. In the tale of Noah and the arc, an olive branch was carried by a dove to alert the prophet Noah that the flood was subsiding. Olive oil was also used in several religious ceremonies, such as anointing kings and priests in ancient times.

I'm a bit late but I m in the same situation and what works for me is to underline difficult words while reading and to search their meaning and write the vocabulary words down with their meanings which helps me to remember them for a long time

brother i recently gave my paper of o level english paper2 i did a lot of cutting and didnt use hard vocabulary but i believe i reached a world limit and used cliff hanger and a bit of foreshadowing and fullfilled the instruction can you tell me if i manage to get A* in paper 1 will i get an A ?? reply please

You should avoid making paragraphs. Instead, focus on making your response coherent by using transition words.

is it okay to write a brief introduction in summary? and conclusions aren't necessary?

no its discouraged. Basically start in a way that basically gives an introduction as well as a benefit of the topic. For example if the topic is like benefits of online shopping vs physical shopping from stores, you could begin with "Online shopping has revolutionized the idea of purchasing products at the ease of a screen, not only are you not affected by ..... but also you benefit due to ......." then begin the points and basically start the second point similar to this. i have my cie tomorrow too 😺
