I've never in my 68 years drank a pint in the US that didn't have the twang and I never had a pint in my 6 weeks total in Ireland that had it. I, of course, kept the Guru's best-of list in my pocket. Bittle's agus Gravedigger's go brea!
Love that you enjoyed Boston. The Black Rose is a tourist bar. The reason for the high ceilings is because it probably was once a Bank or financial institution at one time. It is in the financial area of downtown Boston. Next time you come to Boston you need to go to the local neighbors (Boroughs) such as South Boston, Dorchester (Eire Pub) (Dotchestah pronounced in a Boston Accent), Brighton, West Roxbury, Charlestown or Quincy/South Shore to get the small/cozy irish pub feel. I agree, Mr. Dooleys is an excellent pub. Many Irish (off the boat as we call it in Boston) & Irish Americans in those neighborhoods
11:45 that’s exactly what I think when I get handed a glass with the logo half rubbed off from being washed so many times, I especially like getting old Tennent’s glasses like that since I’m from Scotland.
Great videos, very entertaining keep it up. Only place in the US that did not have that slight twang was from Guinness Baltimore. I’m not sure if they are getting a “special” supply but it’s as close to in Ireland as it gets. I also own a Guinness kegerator and each keg varies in taste slightly some are better than others… and it’s served the exact same way every time at the exact “specs” from Guinness.
Oh man, don't have Insta, would have sent some different recommendations. Solas, Emmets and Burren are all cozy and great pints. Druid is a great spot.
I was trying to give a break on drinking but watching this lad quaffing pints so eagerly makes it a difficult thing for me. I ended up buying a 4-pack of Guinness for the weekend, even though one cannot get the dome out of cans and this seems to be a pretty big deal. Slainte!

@Guinness Guru , Darragh the Twang is from kegs being in hot containers on ships rail and truck.The twang disappears around Xmas.. same with cans..goes shit around June again.
Interesing point about the open design of US bars. I guess it comes down to the fact that they're just nowhere near as old, and are a product of the period in architecture/design they were built. Just like their streets are built on grids.
Not technically an Irish pub, but The Lakefront Restaurant in Chicago has the best pint of Guinness in Amerikay!! Just plain brilliant creamers!! It's The Gravediggers of the USA!! Slainte lads!!
I would love to visit Boston but it seems impossible to get a simple room even with shared Bathroom for under $200 a night .That's insane . I can get a return flight from Dublin shopping around for around $350 or less .
Just curious. After pub hopping all day and have consumed 5 of so pints do you just go to the hotel room and drink a camomile tea. Or do you pick up a few brews for the way home. Asking because I couldn't imagine just going back to the room and getting all sober
Think 16oz glasses are probably standard in the US, rather than imperial pints (568ml)? Probably why the glass feels smaller. Just like the glasses in mainland Europe are 500ml.
You should visit the couple Irish bars in Hawai’i I luckily work above one and the bar keep downstairs always draws shamrocks at the top of his final poor never spills You should really check it out some old history!

Scrap the part scores (7.2, 7.3, 7.4) - there’s no difference between them. Just do 6, 7, 8, etc. fair enough for the top, top ones you can go 9.5 but doing these scores is kind of pointless

Im from Galway I live in yonkers new york, they definitely sweeting up irish drinks, my first bulmers/mangers here I couldn't drink it cause it was too sweet, as a Bulmers and Guinness drinking back home, don't touch the Bulmers here anymore and seldom Guinness, 💚🤍🧡
