Is Buckethead the BEST GUITARIST nobody knows EXISTS? Of course hardcore guitar metal enthusiasts are familiar with Buckethead.... but he's largely left the limelight since his days with Guns N Roses. In this video we'll watch a live performance of Buckethead's, "Frozen Brains Tell No Tales." Take note of his incredible melodic control and chord hooks. He's influenced a myriad of modern guitar players with his unique style and sound. Get on Buckethead's level with my NEW COURSE below. It's all about Sweep Picking using the CAGED System plus the modes of the major scale. There's also a module on using Counterpoint in your guitar riffs. It's 65% OFF until Sunday!

I've seen Buckethead 3 times live, and every time he has filled my entire soul with emotion and inspiration for what guitar playing can be. The greatest guitar virtuoso alive in my opinion. No one else has recorded as much incredible guitar work in one lifetime, other than Prince. "Soothsayer" Live is up there with mind boggling expression like Vai's "For the Love of God." I absolutely love his more emotional and toned down albums such as "Electric Tears" and "Colma."

Buckethead is one of the craziest deepest rabbit holes to go down, if you you get hooked on a popular song like soothsayer and then check out more of his work its all over for you.....I like to think of the pikes as long single songs with multiple parts....some of them are really odd and not my bag of chips but when your mood syncs up with a paticular pike man its like locking into another world....not since Hendrix have I heard a guitarist that makes you want to explore everything he has done.....bonus that he is a super cool dude and so great to his fans😎👍

Buckethead is truly an amazing talent. His personal perspective on music is unlike any other. To him every riff, melody, song is so much more than just something you listen to. He has a child like imagination and has spoken about how he thinks of and creates music. To him he views the music in his head like a movie. each note isn't just a note, they are basically like movies in his mind he then translates into music through his guitar. It isn't just putting notes together to create music, he is trying to give a peek into that sometimes crazy but always awesome mind of his. Check out his amusement park Bucketheadland if you ever have a chance

I've been listening to Buckethead for nearly 15 years and my favorite is the stuff from around the time this video was filmed, 2004-2006. Every album he put out was distinct and filled with memorable riffs. Often he would create a melody and solo over that instead of just shredding over a simple chord progression.

5:48 to answer your question, he use to use a strap that was elastic, that way he would do his signature move where he'd push his guitar down. As far as him being unknown, I don't think so. Every guitar player I've met and talked shop about big pro players all know Buckethead, and if you didn't you're living under a rock. However for sure Buckethead is definitely underground and had he not join GnR would not be as well known as he is today.

Huge hands. Good ole Buckethead. Most songs w/out lyrics get boring quick but as you said, "It's a 4/4 in a groove. So he is playing with this nicely and then hits some freaky note-effects. Wah-wah is very cool. And it is not like he's boring you with his shredanomics...it's just grooving. I can see a basement with some candles...just kicking back with a ray of light coming in through some corner window. Yeah. The way he is playing here, (And I've seen and heard quite a few of his works) Michael Schenker and Uli Jon Roth, both kings of melody would really appreciate his melodic ways here. His effects are stupendous! but bringing it back to the riff, the groove keeps it from going off the rails. Yes. go Buckethead go! Around 8:50 you can see how HUGE his hands must be.

Jesse Johnson from The Time is a great guitar player that nobody gives props too, in the land of R&B and Funk he's 1 of the best I've heard...

I've been following Buckethead for 20 years, maybe more. Been to a couple of shows, have his videos, probably most of his 300+ albums (side projects included) and I dress up like him for Halloween. My Playstation screen name is DeathcubeK. Yeah, I've heard of him.
