Been cycling for 40 years and I've always said that all your senses need to be open to the environment at all times for maximum safety. It's not something I would use but if others like them that's fine.

Used to think the same - these days listening to podcasts and can hear everything around me fine it turns out. Riding for +50 years

Got myself a pair before watching your vid, use it for jogs and bike rides. They are by far the best workout headphones because they don't clog up your ears like regular earbuds, and you can absolutely hear everything around you for safety. While the audio quality doesn't compare to in-ears or over the ears, its a totally worth tradeoff. Glad you guys found this product, only wish I used your discount to give you that kick-back, maybe when I buy a pair for my friends/fam!

I enjoy to listen to music on my bike rides, it definitely lifts the morale. I prefer using a watch-size mp3 player that I mount to the stem on my bike. It works like a charm. I can listen to music and hear surrounding noises such as approaching vehicles and such. The volume can be adjusted accordingly.

These seem like a 1:1 copy of the Aeropex bone conducting headphones. I've had those for a few years now and they're really good. I can recommend getting boneconductors if you don't have any yet.

yeah they look like bulkier shokz which I highly recommend, at low volumes.

TWC love the review guys. Open ear is huge for situational awareness because we feel alot of the traffic conditions around us and you're not playing with bad sizing on earbuds that might want to jump out of your ears in flight. No cords and this set grabs and anchors onto the ears. Excited to know about this product. 🙌🏾

Impressive Video ! When I wanted to switch to bone conduction headphone, Haylou BC01 and Wissonly Hi Runner were both my favorites. Although I chose Hi Runner in the end, I still thought BC01 was good. I chose Wissonly because I need an headphone that can be used for both running, cycling, and swimming. It has a waterproof rating of IPX8 and an MP3 mode. The sound quality and wearing comfort are also good, which can better meet my needs.

Great video. In my non-expert opinion listening to music takes your attention away from what's going on around you even if you can still hear. Especially if you're cycling in city traffic. Thanks for your great videos.

Several times I've nearly run over joggers running in the middle of the bike path with ear phones who couldn't hear me yelling at them. Look out!
@TwoWheelCruise
@TwoWheelCruise 2 года назад
Yeah, it's already annoying when people run in the very middle of the path, but even worse when they can't hear anything.

I used to listen to podcasts when riding but eventually gave up because it was always too windy to hear it properly. Now I just use cycling as a time to just think about nothing and focus on nature. Rather than feeling like I always need to be consuming some kind of media. I have never subscribed to the safety thing really. I listened to the radio with the windows closed and AC on when I had a car and never crashed. As long as I was careful on the bike and looked around, I felt safe enough as well. And when I was riding a motor scooter, you’re not going to hear much with a helmet and engine noise so it all came down to visually looking around and riding defensively with that too. But it seems to vary from person to person; so it’s good that there are options for people who feel it’s essential to hear everything around them.
@TwoWheelCruise
@TwoWheelCruise 2 года назад
Sometimes I'm definitely in that mood where I just want to ride and focus on the ride and nothing else. It's also nice to take a break from constant media consumption.

Obviously, these clever headphones need to be used wisely only when riding in safer surroundings, but they definitely look much healthier than the trendy in ear version which blast your eardrums with sound and which, when used for too long can lead to progressive hearing loss. Also, your new cycling gear looks very smart and so do the larger goggles to protect the eye area better
@TwoWheelCruise
@TwoWheelCruise 2 года назад
Yeah, I try to not use in ear versions much for that reason. And thanks, we're big fans of larger lens glasses.

My favourite for audio while riding is the Bose Frames which are sunglasses with built in speakers. I can protect my eyes a as well as listen to music and podcasts while still being able to hear the world around me.

I have the Aftershockz and love them. I actually have two because I use them on my computer instead of speakers and when one goes dead I switch them and charge the dead one. I would really like one that connects to two devices so I'll give this a shot, it would be nice to have my computer and phone on one.
@TwoWheelCruise

It would be nice to see more devices like this start to offer more multi-device support. Even 2 is not enough at times haha.

I also recently started listening to music on some of my rides. I'm lucky to have a good network of isolated bike paths where I ride, and the joy of hitting a favourite song while cycling home on a sunny afternoon is pretty amazing. That aside, do you have any podcast recommendations? ;)

The interesting thing about using them indoors with earplugs (not riding, of course), is that you will often want to turn the volume way down, since without the distraction of other noises, you need much less volume.

If you are on two wheels an voluntarily disable one of your senses, you have put yourself in more danger than necessary. Plus, there is no music more beautiful than you hear in nature.

That was crazy traffic in the first part. Cars, scooters zooming by you two. And pedestrian about to walk in front of you. I was nervous. Second part with you pushing it down the road. Was Thoung with you at that time? The last part, I was very impressed that Thoung was biking down the road at a good clip. She's come along great in a short time. Thanks for sharing you two...🎥😎👍👌👊🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️💪🙏❤️

We're getting used to the crazy traffic, it's less scary for us now, but still need to be cautious. She was still with me in all the clips today. Actually, she can keep up behind me on the flats at a pretty good speed now.

Back on those roads again. Tell me, Cruise, do you kiss the floor when you get home to your apartment? "Thank God I'm still alive 🙏." I purchased one last year from a company called Shokz. I used it for communication purposes when riding. Excellent for carrying on a conversation while still being able to hear your surroundings. I didn't use it for listening to music, etc., while riding. I don't like being distracted to where I can lose focus on the road. But, that's me. Unfortunately, I don't have any remote roads close by anymore that can be safely ridden. Even mountain roads a short distance away has heavy traffic. I moved here a number of years ago, and the population was around 500 thousand or so throughout the entire valley. Now it's over 8 million. Long gone are the days when you could ride out to the mountains and rarely see a car. Now it's ridiculous. Anyway, as for listening to music at home or while walking, I didn't care for it. Hardly any bass, and if you raise the volume a tad, it gave you a tingling sensation. Much mahalo for the video. Take care on those chaotic roads out there.
@TwoWheelCruise
@TwoWheelCruise 2 года назад
In some places here at certain times the road situation has been worse than we both imagined. If you avoid those places/times, it hasn't been that bad, but we struggle to get up for the early morning rides. These headphones do seem like they would be great for improving communication while riding. I've made a few calls with them while riding by myself, but not with another rider yet.

@Two Wheel Cruise I’d be curious to know how practical it is to use this to listen to turn-by-turn prompts provided by ride with gps, Komoot or even Google maps. Also, does it work with apps that make your smartphone work like a walkie talkie (etc. Zillow) or a Bluetooth phone?

The headphones should be sitting fully in front to the Targus of the ear not on the Targus. In fact leave some space between the Targus and the bone induction pod. I run the other brand for the last year and they work great. I do not run them more that 50% volume for MTB'ing, Gravel, or Road.
