god there's nothing I hate more than self centered, selfish, annoying youtube viewers like you. You're watching content FOR FREE, sitting through 10 seconds of a youtuber asking for FREE support so they can keep living and doing this as their job is the LEAST you can do. Fucking children man
@Doile911

Kiiturii, please read the comment above yours, that is my opinion on the matter more or less. As for the least i can do part, the least i can do is enjoy free content because that is what youtube is based upon, free content. i hit like on what i really enjoy and rarely press dislike on anything (i don't find annoying videos all that much). What truly irritates me is when a content creator shows the now famous chart on subbed/unsubbed viewers, then continue on begging for subs. What i wanted to say in the first comment i made, was about the appreciation for rf9 not doing the said above. Most of all have a good day sir.

Pro tip: Don't cut off your old grips if they are in good shape, just use an old plastic spatula handle or something similar and a little spray cleaner polish on it to gently work off the old grip. Save and reuse later when you want to reverse the change.

Just an FYI F9. Bought the Gerbing gloves and variable controller directly from Gerbing USA in the spring of 2018. The gloves were poorly stitched and the sizing wrong (I measured as a XL and bought those. My friends with large hands could not fit in them) the controller was sketchy at best (the locking nut was not corrosion protected and was already rusted)... I will stop there. When trying to talk/email them there was a week to up to a 3 week delay because "we are on summer hours". Their final excuse in July was they "Could not find any XL or XXL gloves. Hell, you make them and you cannot "find" any? In the end (about 3 months later) they took all the stuff back but I bore the $75 of shipping costs. I would never recommend them to anyone. Ever. On a side note to this story, I was in Whitby during all this and went into the motorcycle shop (you know the shop just off the 401) and they said they dropped Gerbing last year because they found their products to be unreliable and the warranties took forever. Ended up buying FirstGear's jacket and gloves with a dual controller from F9 actually. Love them. Just my $75 worth of opinion.

The Oxford Heated Grips are a game changer in places like the UK (where I am from). I used to want to gnaw off my hands in pain when riding in winter until I saw the light and installed a pair of these grips a few years ago. Then, my bike got stolen. When the next bike I bought, a year or so later, I immediately installed the updated heated grips, which Ryan showcased. The fine tuning adjustability of the settings makes a real difference to a summer evening ride, and a hard core British crappy day. I have no connection with Oxford, and find their other motorcycle products which I have bought to be quite low quality (e.g. motorbike cover, tank bag) but the heated grips are excellent.

I have heated gear. 1) Heated collar is really important to keep head warm in cold weather. 2) There are two ways to wear heated gear - under insulation liner of jacket or replacing insulation liner of jacket. If you replace insulating liner you need a heated liner with sleeves. Under insulation works best in really cold weather while replacing insulation works better in slightly warmer conditions. Heated liners have pretty much NO insulation of their own so do not contain the warmth they produce unless you layer insulation over top. Using over top insulation means you can run the liner at a lower temp and get a more even warmth rather than cold and hot spots. 3) A warm core will keep warm blood flowing to the extremities and help prevent cold hands and feet. 4) I've never had cold feet or legs on the bike with waterproof motorcycle boots and warm socks. and insulated motorcycle pants using a heated liner to keep my core warm. 5) Great video.

Mikael Sedlacek - When I lived in Arizona I used the Veskimo system. The system I used looked like a small cooler I strapped on the passenger seat. The cooler has a electric pump that pumps cool to cold water thru a vest that has tubes on both the chest and back. You put some ice blocks in the cooler and a small amount of water in the cooler. The pump can run off AA batteries or motorcycle battery via cigarette type plug. This system works well for 4-5 hours on an unfaired bike. Using ice from the quickie Mart only lasts 1.5 hours. I also use a jacket with mesh vents over it. This system brings some serious chill to your ride.

I can vouch for the Oxford grips! I bought some last year and wired them up to my bike. You're right Ryan, the 100% setting is H-O-T!! I keep it on minimum (30%) or maybe upward of 50% when it's super cold. I live in Pennsylvania - not Winnipeg, but still gets pretty cold. :-) I've got a '94 Yamaha XJ600S and the Adventure size is a dead ringer for the OEM grip length/fitment.

I made all of my heated gear for less than half the cost of a pair of proper heated glove liners. Heated vest in particular is great. If you understand ohms law it is incredibly simple to make. The heated gloves I made aren’t amazing but combined with bar muffs I certainly don’t get numb hands anymore.

Before I need any of these things, I'd need a heated visor! They disappeared many years ago, nearly everybody praises these pinlock visors, but even they will fog up when the weather is cold or when it is rainy and wet. The heated visors disappeared with all these good-weather-riders, but if you only have a motorcycle you will ride in _every_ weather. Cold, rainy or even in winter with temperatures well below freezing. And then I use multiple layers of clothing, which insulates against the cold. No heated boots/gloves/jackets, only lots of layers of cloth and cursing at the fogged up pinlock visor. The last time I rode while it was snowing (wet sticky snow) and it was night, it fogged up so much I couldn't see anything. I had to open the visor and I got all that terrible white and then wet stuff into my face. If the visor were hot, no snow would stick outside and no fog would build up inside and the heat would radiate on the face. The rest of the body is well protected in multiple layers of cloth and waterproof raingear. Heated visors are the only missing thing.

Bell's MX-9 Adventure helmet comes in a snowmobiling variant with a double-layer heated visor. There are probably others out there you just have to look in different markets!
@zvpunry1971
@zvpunry1971 7 лет назад
Thanks for that information. I didn't know of that vendor, they are fairly unknown here in Germany. We have some bigger stores for motorcycle gear (polo, louis, heingericke) and they didn't even know what a heated visor is and one guy even insisted that pinlock must be better because he didn't know heated visors (strange reasoning). Anyways, I did a quick search for bell-helmet dealers here in Germany (around Frankfurt am Main) and found some online-dealers but no store where I can test them. I wouldn't buy a helmet where I can't test if it works for me.
@Balomis
@Balomis 7 лет назад
Ahhh you being from Germany makes sense. I'm Canadian and Bell Helmets are pretty well known here! I second the preference for not buying a helmet you can't try on first. If snowmobiling is popular at all in Germany maybe some searches for those helmets will bring up different results! They should be similarly rated for safety
@zvpunry1971
@zvpunry1971 7 лет назад
Snowmobiling isn't popular anywhere in Germany. Maybe it was/is popular in some places in the Alps but nowhere in my region. Thirty years ago we had a bit more snow, enough that we even had a hill with a ski-lift. But over the years the winters got warmer and warmer and since 2009 the ski-lift is not in use anymore. There are some pictures of that hill with ski-lift (use google translate for both pages): - www.sommerschi.com/forum/reportagen-f8/neunkirchen-15-02-2009-nicht-retro-sondern-origina-t1697.html - de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neunkircher_H%C3%B6he But that climate change has something good, less ice and snow means more motorcycling. ;)

The best motorcycle upgrade I have done in recent years is to purchase KEIS heated jacket and trousers. I read reviews that you will only ever need a tee shirt on under the jacket and I was sceptical but when I tried it, it was amazing. No more layering up (like someone mentioned further down the comments here) so you don't have the bulk under you leathers or textiles. In colder UK riding weather, I still wear thin, lightweight skin tight garments with the jacket and trousers on top and all this fits comfortably under my BMW leather jacket and biker jeans combo. In fact, they recommend you do that as if not, you will end up with scorch marks on your legs for hours and I'm speaking from experience here. Always wear something between your heated clothing of choice and you skin. I've only had to use mine a few times but the difference it makes to all year riding is significant. The only trouble is, is when getting back to the garage at the end of a ride and facing the elements again as you disrobe.

I commuted 60 miles to and from Seattle for years. I used Gerbing (the old company before they were bought out) gloves and a jacket liner. For me warm hands are the key to staying comfortable. The problem I had has to do with the motorcycle's electrical output. The bike I commuted on was a 2002 Triumph Speed Triple. 3 alternators later and I finally got the point. I also own a KTM Super Duke. It has heated grips. The heated grips are a game changer for me. Now if someone would only perfect battery powered gloves and jacket liners...

My two cents- Oxford Grips are great but when temps started falling to freezing(zero and lower degrees C), they didn't do much for my fingers even with me wearing insulated gloves. So, I got heated gloves which did a better job of keeping fingers warm- VentureHeat ones, which do need big bulky controllers (but annoying stabilizer wires?). Still not fully happy as I was still connected to the bike with pesky wires, I went the old fashioned way and got dorky looking Oxford handlebar muffs but they have done such a great job in combination with the heated grips, that I didn't even really feel the need for heated gloves! They say the Hippo hands (short version) do a great job too so may put in some more $$ and try those this coming winter.

Mixed feelings on the Oxford Heaters. Keeps my palms nice and toasty but the back of my hands, knuckles, and finger tips become frozen. If I bulk up on thicker gloves, I don't feel the heat of the grips. On the plus side, the grips did extend my riding season by about a month in the fall!

I have been using electric gear for about 30 years now. This includes various vests, chaps, gloves, electric glove inserts, and heated grips. If you only had one the vest is the one to pick. As far as warmth goes gloves are great, electric inserts are good and hand grips are nice. I have been using electric inserts with motorcycle gloves all during last winter and found that combination to be the best for safety and warmth. I guess if you were racing you might feel some loss of touch but most people will feel comfortable within an hour with the electric liners. For sporty riding in cool riding then sport gloves with electric hand grips is the ticket for me. I trashed the chaps after one ride.

I ended up going with Venture Heat, since each piece of gear has its own button to control the heat. The jacket liner is thin enough to go under my riding jacket. The pants I only use on longer rides that are below 40F ish. They have more protective glove options, but my thumb bottomed out in their largest option. The cruiser version is a leather gauntlet. Bulky, but keeps the leading edge warm and I can feel the heated grips on the inside. Eventually I get some socks, since they discontinued the boot inserts. Although, I found that merino wool socks and the heated pants kept my feet warm between gas stops on most of my cold rides.

When I was younger I would take my GSX-R 750 through the local canyons EVERY weekend no matter the weather (okay to be honest I did not do pouring rain intentionally) The deal was that early in the morning there was no traffic meaning could haul ass...the bad thing at the crack of dawn in the winter? colder than hell sometimes! Man I would have killed for heated grips or glove....I seriously would put my hands on the hot cylinders for brief periods while riding t was that miserable. ... how about induction heaters on the foot-pegs? No battery necessary then, just a steel plate in the insole. Or better yet a pick-up antenna and heat the conventional resistor way.

I use these heated socks, off ebay. And the suckers do the job. On medium heat which is plenty, they run about 5 hours or slightly more. There are really cheap ones, I don't get those. the next level up is about 38 bucks and they work better.

I do like FortNine videos. Although I won't be needing this gear. It's September and 40C. Maybe a test on textile jackets for hot climates when the seasons switch around.

I bought a pair of Oxford heated grips and within 2 years the right hand grip stopped warming up completely. I'm done with them now...lol. Now I ride with windproof winter motorcycle gloves ..

All heated grips suck. I actually found the the heated glove liners to be much more efficient at keeping my fingers warm.. What use is a palm warmer when its your fingers that engage the switch gears!

I have heated grips on my bike and still use heated gloves. No matter how warm your grips get, the clutch and brake levers are made of metal and will freeze the tip of your fingers. Especially in cold morning commuting where there's a lot of traffic and you need to use them a lot. Also I actually like having the controller on my leg. Easy access to the controls without having to look. My First Gear Carbon heated gloves offer decent protection and are not bulky.

Heated grips are very limited and only really heat your palms. Your fingertips, thumbs and back of your hand still freeze

I’ve bought a few types of heated gear - by far, Gerbing has proven to be the most reliable. Does FortNine sell Gerbing products? What I was searching for is a FortNine review on the remote control accessory - pros & cons?

The clip on the Tourmaster controller will break off by the second use. I stuck some Velcro on mine and happened to already have velco on the leg of my Aerostich. It works better than the clip now.

Had my first fall ride today and froze my ass off. Cold hands, cold legs (jeans), cold air up my jacket sleeves and the liner is not near warm enough. Next year I will have better gear!

The tech of the Oxford grips is great, they work fine..............to me, the grips are really big diameter, and I have long fingers, they are huge.............2nd thing? The grips are hard like wood....not soft like rubber. But hey, they sell lots of them so what do I know?

medical grade silicone has nothing to do with implanting per se, it means the material is in fact safe for prolonged contact with skin, causing little to no irritation. pretty handy if you wanna warm your fingers for 4 hours.

I've ridden (naked bike) in very cold East coast winters..nothing like Canada but still the only thing that gets cold are my fingers. I have a tourmaster 4 season jacket and some scorpion winter pants. unfortunately I spent $200 on rev-it tauros winter gloves....they were good until about 35deg....I might have to get heated grips this winter...

I have to ask, what part of Canada? This review sounds like it is for cool weather gear, not cold. Who needs to put heated grips on a BMW GS, how did you find one that didn't have them stock? Grips are nice for cool summer nights, but can't handle actual cold on their own. If you want solid heated gloves with actual armor and key reinforcements, do the Warm & Safe Touring ones. Best addition is handlebar muffs, Tucano Urbano makes functional quality ones for a decent price, but i had to order from the UK where more people use them on 'rides'. Can't help with the controller size for now, but for me wired gear (jacket, gloves, insoles) are the overall most workable, affordable, flexible, simple, and durable setup for dealing with actual cold weather. Don't forget your tire studs...

wouldn't you have to remove the insoles anyways in order to remove the battery, or am I missing something? Either way, cool product and great review. I'll vouch for good heated grips vs gloves. I've tried the liners and by the time my hand was getting warm, my fingertips were burning. My stock harley heated grips put enough heat out that I only wear summer gloves (I live in Canada) and always have warm hands. If you do heated grips with winter gloves the heat will never get through.
