As you say, that's the best sounding system / speaker review so far. Natural edging towards warm, with an open sound which you could listen to for along time. Something to aspire for.
Holy s***t...I don't usually comment on speaker demos but this is mindblowing. What a fantastic system. Those speakers are the best I've heard. What an incredible muscular sound.
The Canor 1.20 is a great value, without a doubt. Clean, detailed transparent sound being delivered to the Borg speakers. The Borg truly shined on the true audioohile tracks 'Trip Trap' & 'Something Special'. I listened through my headohones, and was not quite convinced that the speakers were a high end quality speKer. So I went to my main system to listen again. They truly delivered. Bass was formidable. Thanks Jay.
I do really like the way Karl Heinz designs his speakers, they are highly transparent without assaulting your ears. Even the Wharfedale Diamond 12 are stunning for their price.
Tel, congrats on acquiring the Borgs for review 👍🏻.... You know how much of a fan I am of AMT tweeters ..... (at this point) I don't see myself returning to any type of dome tweeter again.
Very impressive big sound. Made my wee KEF q55.2 speaker's sound like £30000 worth 😁. Would be interesting to have a comparison video with the KEF reference 3 speakers just out of interest. Marcus Miller's bass work sounded awesome. Great review as usual Terry.
That means a lot of moving of over 200KG of speaker, I am getting older not younger - I cant do it sorry man, things move too fast for me at the mo, lots of new products to review
@@PursuitPerfectSystem yeh I kind of knew that but it would have been interesting all the same. I know what you mean by getting older as my bones creek just getting out of bed every morning.
@@steverees1936 fwiw I think I can get the KEF close but they will fall short in quite a few key areas while maybe having some benefits due some of the design. Both speakers look to do a similar thing be very smooth in the in room freq reponse with a slight roll off to achieve it
@@PursuitPerfectSystem that's interesting but it would be down to personal choice I'm guessing to which sort sounds the best. In terms of looks, the KEF's win hands down but we aren't talking about looks. It would be great to sit in your room and listen to both speaker's and then make the choice. Enjoy your time with this setup as I'm sure you are.
Stunning sound, could you pick a song, then play it from vinyl, cd, and streamed from Spotify, quobuz, amazon, deezer etc, to see if there are any differences on the same song..... Cheers keep up the videos and reviews
Its mostly cd rips Steve with the odd Qobuz streamed song. Nothing fancy for the media like high res or DSD. I think the Tool track is 96khz on qobuz but I prefer 16/44.1 so the hugo m scaler does its thing
@@PursuitPerfectSystem thanks for that.... Love your reviews, very helpful and an incite into the wonderful world of music... Just one other thing please please play pink Floyd shine on crazy diamond, would love to hear that on this system, hope you can do this, again keep on posting
Exellent bass response , even though the 4 subs are not on they still help out as a passive radiator and smooth out the bass tones. Next time you play music with good bass feel the subs drivers.
I really like the AMT tweeters. Would be interesting to compare these with the far cheaper top Wharfedale models. They are way too expensive for most unfortunately. Isn't this the same designer behind the new Diamonds?
Borg speakers? £22,900 for a pair of 2 way, slimline low efficiency ported speakers? Get these in the same room as Steve57's red and black DIY'd semi-ported semi open baffle 4 way high efficiency speakers - which have a set of drivers that would cost about £3,500 if you paid full retail price.
@@borisbobowski628 Indeed. Steve57's are the joint best speakers in the World. Give or take a bit. Were you at Owston for the DIY themed hi-fi event today, where they were playing? Along with a few other DIY'd speakers that offered really good sound quality for the money spent on them.
That pinpoint tape positioning :) as i remember they sound pretty wide, no need to be turned to listening position. But when when u have small room it will be better i think.
sitting more on axis is more direct sound and less room reflected sound - I try and minimise the room reflected sound as much as poss and I couldn't get them toed in anymore haha :)
Am I the only one that think this sounds bad compared to the older demos? I think it sounds muffled with a hint of Tupperware. The Piega sound demo was quite bad as well, but not this muffled. All previous demos from this room have impressed me a lot, like it's almost hard to tell if I'm listening to the speakers playing the music or if the music has been overlayed. Any changes to the mic or room setup?
Interesting feedback, nothing has changed in terms of production I still record and shoot the video in the same way and present the videos in the same way. I have changed my lenses so I am now shooting the video at a different angle because the FOV has changed due to the lens change. Interstingly I have a video coming soon showing something that was added to the system which has improved the sound by reducing the muffling and thickening of the sound. I didnt have it dialled in 100% for the piega and there is still more improvement to come - the older videos would have been sounding artificially warm but really that wasn't real. One thing I have been doing is toeing the speakers in more again because a more toed out sound is more softened at the top end and more vague I am very much off that sound atm
Hideous speakers. Who wants two coffins or urns in the living room? Those diffusers are not very attractive either. Thanks for the variety of music options.
I gotta admit, those speakers give me the heeby-jeebies: they're like Egyptian sarcophagi. Maybe there are other finishes that look a bit better, but as is, they're far too scary to contemplate giving house room to, no matter how good they might sound. Speaking of which, whilst they sound quite good, the sound stage seemed much compressed laterally to me -- comparing the "Trip Trap" track with the version on RU-vid in particular. I can't say that I've noticed such an effect before on your sound demos, Terry, and wondered if you did anything different this time. Whatever, I'm sensing that I didn't get as much out of this demo as is usual with your set-up. Maybe you can explain it, because nothing's changed at my end...
Hi John, interesting feedback for me this is the best set of recordings I have ever done as the system is the best Maybe the difference is with these speakers I was getting deep deep bass put of them to 20hz deep and maybe that is the difference because everything else is def better man
@@PursuitPerfectSystem Interesting: have you listened to "Trip Trap" on your demo here _on RU-vid_ and compared it with "Trip Trap" on RU-vid at: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wNiYJDb1gAc.html To my ears, the sound stage on the latter is appreciably wider, although the bass may not be as deep or dynamic. Maybe I'm going nuts and am imagining it. If so, apologies, just ignore me.
@@johncallaghan3097 I will do the demo when the kids go to bed - not being funny if I am even getting close to how the original sounds from a recording of the system I am not doing bad man - cut a man some slack haha
The GAIA are installed on my KEF I cant change and install them for every speaker I review. As the KEF were mine it was fine for me to use them like that. I still love the GAIA its just not practical to keep changing them, from speaker to speaker
They are different models/sizes of Tungsten Grooves W70 isolation feet ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bj89-epLyNg.html I have made several videos about them inc an A/B demo video
Why does it matter if its a 2 3 or 6 way speaker - if 2 drivers can be made to do the duties of more with no negatives that means less crossovers which is the big loss area within a speaker - maybe your money is going into an immense cabinet construction and all the man hours in making a 2 way speaker perform like it does. Your never buying just the individual parts costs of anything
@@gzubeck3 You would have to open them up and look inside - a few coats of paint and 10 coats of lacquer doesn't make a speaker worth 10 grand either. Its the inside that matters to the sound - the rest is purely to catch your eyes - you dont listen with them, well your not supposed to some people do haha
Don't support Fink. He bought out the expertise of Australia EPOZ and British Creek Audio specialist's. They are the real engineers and stars. This guy goes and buys out a company that stood for good quality cheap Hi Fi and makes it expensive german product. Now his name graces his just as ugly loudspeakers for the rich.
You have control over how you set them up and I like an upfront sound front row. The most expensive ticket in the venue is the front row, you don't spend a lot of money on a hifi to have a personal concert and then not sit in the best seat.
What this sound is, is fast detailed clear and crisp pretty much note perfect from 20-20 big full and rich with no fat on the sound, very low distortion and very low noise floor ' and that is the recording imagine what the real thing is doing
