This is a great guide for people like me who haven't made it to the Lake District yet - really must get that sorted! I like how you classified the various walks and hikes by difficulty and added who might find them particularly suitable. You have so much magnificent footage - it's great to look back and see all the highlights again. A very informative and well produced video!

Caroline, Thanks for sharing the best hikes in the Lake District. Can people fish in the lakes? Can you overnight camp on the trails? Love your channel and the cool videos. We had an other extremely experienced solo hiker missing this week. 90 volunteers and dogs, were activated. He "self-rescued himself" with the help of other hikers after 3 days missing. One happy ending, but others are still missing. Cheers 🍦🍦🤠

Hey hey. There are opportunities for fishing as I've seen people doing it over the years, but there' signs saying you need permits and I understand you get these from local Angling associations. The camping on the trails is a funny one. Technically speaking, wild camping is only allowed if you have the land owners permission, but more often than not, people don't know who owns the land/how to reach out to them. A lot of people wild camp anyway, but so it up high, past the last farmers wall on land that feels unused. They set up late and leave early the next day leaving no trace. I have sadly seen some people camping in very obvious areas like lakeshores however! But on our final day of this trip when we hiked the Langdales, we saw in the National Trust's car park a chalk board encouraging wild camping. It asked people to leave a note on the vehicle dash board stating how long they'd be away for and to use the honesty box to pay on return. I didn't know until then that the National Trust encourage wild camping on some of their land - which is amazing! So pleased to hear the solo hiker in your region was able to rescue himself with the help of other hikers - it's such a lovely hobby until it goes wrong! Cheers 🍦🍦

My fav easy walk is from Vicarage Road in the village of Ambleside. Start here, go past the church into Rothway Park, go past the standing stones, then cross a stone bridge, follow the sign which says 5 miles to Grasmere, and continue on the road taking in the lovely fells and passing the stepping stones (have fun getting all the way across and back). Continue until you almost come to the main A591 road, instead of going over a bridge, go left up the hill past a car park, keep on going and you will come out to lovely views of Rydal Water. You can choose to go up to the caves, or go low and hug the water's edge. Either way, you should continue until you make your way to a gate by a ruined house/barn by the start of some woods. Go through the gate and woods, and soon you'll come to a bridge, but instead of crossing it (there's a theme here), turn left and follow the path by the rives edge (one tiny scramble downhill) along until you get to the start of Grasmere ("lake") by the weir, which again, you shouldn't cross over the bridge there. Here you can relax on the small sandy beach or continue into the woods and out again, following the lake path until you get to a short but steep climb to a road, at the top turn right towards Grasmere (village) and then stop off at Tweedies Bar for a deserved drink (or two!), Other highlights are pretty much guaranteed buzzard sightings, lots of damselflies (month dependent), sheep, and maybe even a military jet or two. It's not a walk for all as it has some bits that a wheelchair can not manage, but otherwise, it's fairly flat and can be managed easily within 3 hours.

This sounds like such a lovely walk. I've not done much in the way of 'village to village' walks, but I imagine the idea of being able to grab lunch in a café, and ice cream on the way back etc. is brilliant! One for the list for the next time we're up there!! Thank you for sharing!

@@WhenAdventureKnox I'm actually going up to the lakes in two weeks for my birthday holiday, so I'll see if I can do a video of it! If you leave at 9am, you can get to Grasmere at midday, just in time for pubs to open, plus cafes etc. You then have the afternoon to do what you want, from here on a nice day there is a nice 'moderate' walk up to Easedale Tarn and on the way there is a really nice waterfall/pool of water where you can even go for a small swim!

Dodd below Skiddaw is a nice short walk with fabulous views of derwent and basssentwaite . Troutbeck tongue gives you a medium high level walk view of Windermere . Blea Tarn , low level with great views of the Langdale Pikes .

Thank you 🙏 I'm afraid we don't have a gpx file of the walks. Of late, we almost always use All Trails, but in the earlier days we used things like books in AirBnB's and borrowed ones from our local library, and we also used things like the National Trust's website. I don't know if any of that is helpful for you.

For goodness sake…. I do not want to listen to “ Annie” who in the advertisement complained about her financial position. Where does this fit in with hiking. We have all had a period of financial difficulties. Good god stop this advertising in the middle of what was a great video however has now been deleted for me. Shocking. I appreciate its Google. Stop supporting Google. Bad form my friend.
