Hiking to Everest Base Camp? You're going to need the right pair of shoes for the job! The La Sportiva Tempesta GTX hiking shoe are lighter than boots, insanely comfortable and glide over rocks and stones and grip to boulders like a gecko on a wall.
I wore these all the way up on my 12 day Everest Base Camp trek and didn't regret it. I didn't get a single blister in these trekking shoes and found I could slip them on and off with ease.
They kept my feet really warm most of the way, but I'd highly recommend wearing a super dry, thick pair of socks up to Kala Patthar, especially in sub zero temperatures.

BTW, I MADE THIS INCREDIBLE BIT OF GEAR

They do come in black and yellow, the typical la sportiva colors. I just ordered a pair of these and Hoka One one clifton 7. Not gonna go to Everest base camp. but where i live, we have similar terrain anyhow... :).

The issue with Gore-Tex runners is; the puddles are inside and inside for good! I quit with GTX and now go with wet until I dry. Gore-Tex runners are like walking with puddles. But hey, each to their own.

I’ll stand out great as a landmark on Everest when I die! I’ll be “blue and green boots”!

Should’ve worn shoes instead. But at least I won’t get lost. 😘

A question, do you think it will be very hot in summer?

How about Salomon Trail Runner speedcross? Lighter and fits like a sock. I use it for trekking in the Alps. Cheers

Thanks for the vid. Question - there are those who say you should have a boot that goes over your ankles to help protect you - you thoughts?

Cheers, Jeff. Thanks for watching. I always say, hike your own hike and always do what works for you. I find boots are heavy, uncomfortable and not breathable which is a recipe for blisters and for me all those issues outweigh the requirement for ankle support. Over time and with practice using shoes, the need for ankle support is less because your muscles strengthen.

Hi there :) I actually have some La sportiva ultra raptor 2 and besides the ankle question, would you say it could be a problem as they are not waterproof? Would be perfect for me not to buy another pair but also wondering about a mid, lightweight waterproof one ! Thx

@@thetrailhunter4469 very useful. We are travelling to Nepal on April thinking of buying walking shoes

Ahh fantastic and I wish you all the best on your trip. It’s amazing. Yes, I would recommend a shoe over a boot for this trek unless you’re going I in the winter. Another good shoe is the Altra Lone Peak 4.0 but not as warm as these La Sportiva Tempesta. I recommend you buy your footwear before going to Nepal as the quality gear is hard to find in Kathmandu. Any more questions, let me know! 😊

@@thetrailhunter4469 thank you so much. Regarding travelling bag pack which one I should buy?
@thetrailhunter4469
@thetrailhunter4469 5 лет назад
This is a really good question and one that depends entirely on how much gear you’ll be carrying. I had about 7KG (15lbs) base weight and a 40L HMG 2400. See these videos for reference. The pack I used: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HCru85WlweU.html A cheaper alternative which would be fine: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MsRbUG77bnw.html My EBC gear list: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yHk1NZswc4Q.html My guide had a Deuter day pack the whole way, but bought very little with him. Hope this helps.

Would you recommend to buy a size up to be able to wear a wool socks?

@thetrailhunter4469 5 лет назад
Yes, that’s actually what I did. But be sure to try both sizes for peace of mind.
