Since we knew about the important and eventually life saving differences between available hook knifes there was the plan to create a video related to this topic.
Special thanks to Raphael Schlegel, the owner of Westerwings, who was available for an interview and gave us some vectran lines and some straps which are commonly used at skydive rigs.
And guys... eat more fruits!

Went to Rafe's shop (Westerwings in Alzenau, about 25mi [40km] due East of Frankfurt) a couple of months ago for a reserve repack and he totally sold me on this amazing tool. It's 150 Euros (not be cheap) but I promise that this demo is 100% accurate. After showing me how poorly my own hook knife performed (wouldn't cut through ANYTHING!), he then showed me his. Rafe's knife goes through leg strap-weight nylon webbing with no more effort than tugging on a trouser zipper. It's the wickedest tool I've ever seen and it would not surprise me to learn that he has sold these to emergency services units - there's just nothing like this device anywhere. First-class German engineering you can trust with your life.

Westerwings is selling these knives. Check out the other comments to find the the Facebook Link. Even the website of Westerwings is not telling something about the knives but you can find the phone number on the website if you don’t have a Facebook account. I know they are shipping worldwide.

product intro is cool but you should explain what the purposes are for the noobs like me. i dont even know wtf a hooking knife is and when you need to use it. im thinking if i get myself into a situation where i need a knife while sky diving im pretty much fucked and it wouldnt make much of a difference anyhow lol

Alex Skywalker you have a malfunction, deploy your reserve and your main canopy is still attached somehow. In order to prevent the main getting tangled with the reserve, you must cut away the main using a hook knife.

Okay, seems like he went super creative and calls it "Fallschirm Kappmesser" short FKM which translates to something like Canopy cut off knife :D It´s a super tiny manufacturer. You can order those knifes at Westerwings facebook.com/Westerwings-148742148508652/

ok good german engineering but now comes the but - emergency landing drop plane that rolls over, a window has to be broken, where is the glass breaker - and why no four-finger hand protection for a secure grip and hand protection and so awkward gripping with one finger

zeig mal lieber ob es auch eine Aufziehleine schneidet, jahrelange Absetzer in der Senne bei den Engländern und in Seedorf bei den Holländern - es kam nie zu einem Vorfall aber wir wissen wohl alle noch der Teufel ist ein Eichhörnchen, es kommt wenn niemand damit rechnet

Let's try that again with a fair test. Not folding the material into the blade of the cheap knife and then making a clean diagonal cut with the knife you are promoting. You are comparing a 1970s Skoda with a 2021 Audi.

Ehem... yes we compared a 1970s Skoda with a brand new Audi. And we recommend not to jump with the 1970s Skoda for security reasons.

@@Teamfancyshit I wouldn't but as an engineer I test like for like as as close to it for a fair comparison, with testing carried out like for like. Meaning that if I am going to cut something: same angle same force applied.
