I think it can definitely replace your laptop, as long as you do not do heavy tasks on it. I am currently using the iPad 9th Generation is working great so far. Right now, I use this iPad for my studies and it is just incredible for this price. Highly recommend this iPad for everyone
I got a 15 dollar stylus that looks like the Apple Pencil (i knew it wasn’t the Apple Pencil) but I soon realized that it doesn’t have palm rejection 😭😭😭
for me as student who watches online classes due to covid-19, as well as taking notes, working on google presentations and documents, and consuming contents it is perfect for me. I wouldn't pay for a pro if Im only a student on high school (128gb)
I updated from an iPad 2 to an iPad 8 in January! I am so shocked with the power of the device, i'm going into College this September and i'm so excited to use it
Btw u can use a wired mouse if u buy a lightning to USB adapter:) my mouse has no wire but it has a usb receiver meant for a computer. Hope this helps:)
I got to secondary school (high school) and I’ve had no problem using my iPad Air 3 as my only computer, defo recommend picking up the Smart Keyboard or other Logitech one and the usb 3 camera adapter from Apple means I can connect most usb drives. The Apple Pencil is cool but not essential unless ur gonna be taking notes in class. I only got 64gb cuz £629 for 256gb costs almost as much as an iPad Pro! But 64gb is more than enough imo especially as a student in school (not university), it’s easily enough for all the apps, notes, photos and games i have. I’m using about half the storage on my iPad Air and I’m not constantly deleting stuff making sure to save space. There is easily enough space for lots of Netflix and music tho
2016 12.9 Ipad pro user. Its my main device for work and entertainment. Only use it with smart cover in slate mode using the virtual keyboard and apple pencil
Hey I think everyone should check this keyboard out if they are gonna spend that kind of money on it: www.brydge.com/products/brydge-10-2-for-ipad-7th-generation?variant=31071486738537
Glad you didn’t include the Logitech crayon. Stopped working 1 month in and it’s been over a month with going back and forth with their “support” and still I’m without a replacement.
I made the switch from a MacBook Air to a 2020 iPad Pro with a Smart Keyboard (the new keyboard with trackpad) and Apple Pencil. I study, and work. I prefer it WAY more than my MacBook and its functionality is amazing.
When it comes to the keyboard the brydge keyboards are a great option they give the ipad a more classy macbook like feel and they got a very good battery too ive bought mine 3 months ago and still haven’t charged it and they are also backlit
Could you make a review about how any type of flash drive works when plug in the dongle on the ipad 7/8? I see some other reviewers using dongle for connect the flash drive, but sometimes it didn't work 🙏
I already had the MX Master 1 with my Windows Laptop and when I switched to the MacBook Pro 16” I went full Logitech :D I got the MX Master 3, MX Keys and the Palm Rest... and those things are the greatest things ever in my opinion :D Especially since this setup works perfectly for BootCamp Windows Gaming as well. :)
JSL Review If you would think about it very rational... an upgrade is not necessary. But if you look at it from a subjective point of view I would. Yes, there is a high chance that is well worth it. It is one of those decisions where you can say it is worth it for everyone. I had the 1. Gen. you the 2. Gen. and I think they’re are basically the same, despite that yours already offers the Flow Feature. And I will obviously take that into consideration. I don’t know if the 3. Gen. offers a lot of more Features compared to the 2. Gen.. The scroll wheels are different and I like them more. The Steel is very nice, build quality as well. The Operations feel even more high quality. The transition between the scroll modi is even quieter and smoother. The biggest factor though is the ergonomics and the looks. I personally found it to look nicer. The new one is a little smaller at the top, which is actually a good thing for most, I think. With the old one, one of my fingers was always on the right edge, not on the top and not on the side. On the new one this finger moves to the side of the mouse which makes it more comfortable . By quite a lot actually. The side buttons on the left are in a slightly different position as well. And still think that they are nicely placed. It also has USB C now... a USB A to C is included (1,3m?! not sure about the length), and the USB A Unyfing receiver is included as well. I can highly recommend this mouse. And if you think that you like it and it would be a nice thing to have, then I think the upgrade would be worth it. :) Be careful when buying locally, the light one looks very dark on the box, almost got the light one instead of the dark, which looks rather black on the box, though it is a lovely grey. The trim matches the MacBook SpaceGrey very well :)
@@herrkeks8509 Appreciate the thorough review (you should start a RU-vid channel lol) - putting together a best accessories for the MacBook Air soon, maybe I'll try and get my hands on the mouse to include!
JSL Review Yes, maybe I should, quite a few people already told me that... Regarding the mouse again. Though you won’t get a lot of new features, you’ll get the much more advanced product :) I think that is what I’ve been looking for in my previous answer. :)
Just got my 7th gen iPad on sale and it’s beyond expectations! Definitely more than enough for students or someone who doesn’t need a full fledge computer but want a larger screen than a smartphone. I got the Apple Pencil and found the Smart Keyboard on sale for 99 on Amazon which was such a steal! So excited to use all of this on the go once quarantine is over!
I asked my mom for it in a letter explaining why I want it. :") Wish me luck! 🌸Edit: So I didn't get it but that's because I was gonna get a laptop from my private school so I didn't need one. Instead, she offers to pay 200$ for whatever I want. I just got a pair of fila shoes, sims4 pack games, and a bunch of aesthetic things (ex: customized erasers, pens, mechanicals pencil..). I'm pretty happy with that though 😀 Well, still good luck for all the people that are gonna try getting the iPad~ 🤗✨🌸
Hey man, thank you for this, it is super helpful, especially when you are searching for review on this model but all you can find is reviews on the iPad Pro. I don’t have those kinds of dollaz... lol but thanks again. Also have you tried the rugged folio from logitech?
My favourite and probally a useful one is the usb dongle? Its good if you don't have enough money to buy the ipads with extra storage, you could just put everything ont a USB and you're done which is good for documents you would want to open in other places where you don't have your ipad with you. I would get that item (: and the xbox control to play games
I’ve found the 2019 Air quite useful so far. I use it as a laptop replacement even if I have a MacBook Pro. Buying a mouse was a waste of money for me. It simply doesn’t feel right. Maybe it is because of mouse acceleration. The keyboard (I use the Logitech Smart Keyboard) was a brilliant investment. The Apple Pencil I also use every day. But yeah, I don’t know why the mouse pointer feels so strange on IOS. And Bluetooth mouses aren’t cheap :)
If you check on the apple store or best buy they should have adapters that are either lightning to HDMI or USB-C to HDMI. I’m not sure if they make the lightning to HDMI though.
Definitely thinking of purchasing the keyboard, thanks for this review. The Only thing I disliked is the pen. I have this pen , it is extremely sensitive to the point if it falls , the tip can break off (it does come w replacement tips ) but the thing is the tip breaks half way and the remaining stays stuck where it is impossible to take out the broken one to replace it 😞. It is my second time purchasing this pen but I will definitely order the original Apple Pencil or maybe another pen that isn’t easy for the tip to break off.
I recently got this iPad & I am enjoying it. I have a keyboard with it & I'm using it for mostly everything I need. As a full laptop replacement? Not yet
To be, definitely the stylus has to be the most useful! To find something LIkE the Apple Pencil but not as expensive is wonderful! Now I have have to search to see if it would be compatible with my 6th generation
I'm right in the middle of deciding whether to get a laptop or an iPad. I'm going to wait until the Apple Event in March, but I think I'm leaning toward an iPad.
@@eminem7765 I think so. It's the laptop form-factor that's tough for me on my lap. Because the iPad is not forever connected to a keyboard, I can use the touchscreen with my hands or the Apple Pencil while it's on my lap and a keyboard and mouse when I'm at a desk or table.
Its okay if the keyboard is overpriced and does not cover the entire ipad but for an apple pencil that has great pressure sensitivity and connection, its not affordable? What is this :/
If anyone would like a different on keyboard for the iPad that uses the smart connector and has a touchpad and is def more protective than the Apple smart keyboard then check out the Logitech one. It’s around the same price
if macbooks were touch screen i would for sure stick with having an actual computer. now i go to school with both. i use my macbook for typing notes and my ipad for handwriting notes and looking things up quickly
32 is small, but it's do-able so long as you don't have to download anything big. If you need to download text books and stuff, you'll l likely want to upgrade to 128GB
12.9 inch ipar pro with the new magic keyboard can really get the job done for many people... People who just do basic computer work like typing , surfing and you know ...and after that if you want to use it as ipad you can do that too... Like you if want to lie down and watch some youtube or netflix
An ipad can be a laptop alternative for students who just want to make simple documents, power point, and excel. Plus it could also be used for note taking and all the other things that ipad can do like web browsing. For a more professional use it can't be tho.
As mkbhd said. The iPad is not a laptop replacement but rather a laptop alternative. I'm just gonna wait till the iPad pro 2018 drops in price which it will when the iPad Pro 2020 drops. Just want a future proof and powerful iPad to replace my laptop and use for a couple of years.
The lightining to USB adapter only works for photos or videos. If you want a way to save doccuments or other stuffs of students, you'll need a "Apple flashdrive" It's not cheap but is the only solution
