Product Sourcing:
When it comes to sourcing a product for review, I will usually either purchase and item personally or reach out to a supplier requesting a sample for review. Many suppliers are supportive if they are confident in their product, appreciating the value of greater exposure.
I am sometimes sent a product by a supplier which I may include if the product fits planned content and I believe will be of interest to you, my audience. The product needs to be worthy of a review and I always make it clear to the supplier that they cannot influence or be involved in the content in any way. It is not in my interest to review inferior or poor quality products and therefore as you might expect many product offers are politely declined.
Any sponsored videos (paid for reviews) are clearly stated as such so there can be no misunderstanding.
Sometimes a supplier will provide a link to the product or the supplier which I am happy to include in the description. Sometimes I will be provided with an affiliate link so I can earn a commission on sales and this helps to support channel costs but never at the expense of an honest review. There is no cost to you and in some cases discounts can be obtained via the link or via an included code.
If a product I have reviewed is available from Amazon I will often include an Amazon link in the description. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you purchase a product or service with the links that I provide I may receive a small commission. There is no additional charge to you.
Please consider subscribing and being notified to keep up to date with new video releases.

First heard of Leatherman when I joined the Army. I remember my Drill Sargeant recommended us to purchase one. At the time, the only one that was available was the PST. I still have it to this day.

@@benyaffe5389 Closest thing to a Sonic screwdriver there is in yesterday's and today's marketplace. If a person needs the pliers Leatherman was there pretty much first in a meaningful way but sure dig up some old products few bought or patents few made of vaguely similar "multitools" if you want but I've seen them I'll bet and it proves little... Leatherman created a mass market for these things and a pretty unique formfactor. It or the copy of it is the predominant form factor more or less or inspired by it not some pair of regular pliers with their handles machined at their ends to screwdrivers or other "multitools" that were around longer... Pliers need come up unexpectedly more than people think. I recently needed pliers, unexpectedly just to loosen a car oil fill cap some brute overtightened to the point it required a tool for what is supposed to be a tool-less procedure. The only tool I had? One of my Leathermans! Sure I own many pliers but I don't carry them with me. I have Swiss Army Knives but most have no pliers or if they do they aren't relavant for the normal type knives as opposed to SAK multitools.

A great selection! I own 6 of your top 7 (having yet to yield to the Free technology) plus quite a few more from Leatherman's 25 year output. For me, the Squirt P4 and Style CS make a fine dual pocket carry that edges out the capability of the Micra by a might. And while the Skeletool and Wave see the most sunshine, old-timers Core, Kick and Fuse have found spots in various kits in and around the car, home, and shop.

I've finally found the perfect equipment: the combination of the Leatherman Crunch, the Leatherman Super Tool 300 and the combination of the three various Leatherman bit kits (one of them having the on-Phillips adaptor). This toolset, which i keep in just two separate sheaths, gets me able to do absolutely all jobs in my house and my garden with a children's playground, swimming pool and a shed, as well as everything when my friends need my help in their own homes.

Happy Friday Jon, I have been a Swiss Army Knife fan all my life yet despite that I did own a Leatherman ( an early model, possibly the 3rd variant, can't recall now) for 34 years, I never pocket carried it but kept it in my office desk at work & when I retired I gifted it to my replacement & as far as I know he was still using it up to 5 years ago - the last time I visited my old place of work. It was useful for all sorts of little repair jobs in the office & at the time the only SAK's I carried with me in my pocket to & from work was a 58mm Classic SD or a 58mm Midnight Manager on my key ring and my minimalist 84mm Bantam (economy model without scale tools ) in my pocket, so having a Leatherman multi tool on hand in the office was a real boon. The modern variants of the Leatherman seem to have improved somewhat in capabilities over the original models but despite that I don't intend to buy one & if I was in need of a multi-tool I would pick one of Victorinox's Swiss Tools like the Swiss Tool Spirit MX Clip over a Leatherman

Great summary of many great tools. I've carried a Leatherman of some variation for 30+ years. My subjective opinion, based on what I need and use on a daily basis, is my #1 favorite Leatherman (and multitool in general) is the Leatherman Wave+. 1) If it doesn't have scissors,I won't use it. I need basic scissors all the time. 2) I wear glasses, as do my wife, kids, and parents. The Leatherman Wave+ is the only multitool I know of that has all the other tools I use regularly, plus a small precision Phillips/flathead driver with which I can repair eyeglasses (and many small electronics). I have given the Wave+ to both of my sons and many other friends/family because it is legitimately the best general multitool out there.

Great video and I love your list. My personal favorite is the P4 It is an outstanding tool with the innovations to making every function one-handed. I especially like Leatherman’s choice to arrange the two blades, so that no matter which hand you have your tool in one of the two knives is accessible one-handed. As someone who is left-handed, this allows me to open a blade with my dominant hand.

100% agree on the Skeletool CX. For me key, it is the only one too have a reasonable option to have Philips, flathead, and two Torx. For tough work I use the surge with rachet, metal saw, wood saw and a micro flash light. If I would find a multitool with a bitholder (Torx for me), flathead and Philips I would consider swapping the Skeletool CX. Any single handed ideas are welcome. Lucky living in Switzerland.

Before I purchased Leatherman Crunch, I never thought it would be a favourite multitool. My understanding is though that it is no longer in production and out of stock in most places. Without a doubt the locking pliers is a game changer. I am always suprised, just how large the pliers open up and provide clamping force. You never can achieve this with regular pliers. I love it so much I have 2 of them. Both paired with either the Victorinox larger SwissTool or smaller Swisstool Spirit X. My only compliant is the fit and finess of leatherman tools. Things like the pliers ends not lining up.

Unless maybe one could be said to be disappointed when a particular tool was discontinued... I prefer the skeletool as it is fairly light and still has the most important tools. The first Leatherman I bought was the Surge. It is truly beastly, so much so that I don't carry it! I have a small kit in a Vanquest pouch I built around the Surge that I keep in my 4Runner. What I do carry everyday is a Wave (not the Wave+) that was my second Leatherman. I found a nice holster from Clip & Carry and the Wave carries very easily on my 1.5" web belt. The Wave gets used almost everyday. Beware, though, that the Wave will pinch the #%%^ out of you if you get a bit of your palm between the backs of the blades when using the pliers. I have had blood blisters twice, accompanied by an appropriate amount of atmospheric ionization from my vocal response to said pinch. I keep a pair of Mechanix gloves in my kit for those times I'm doing much with the Wave. Great list. Thanks.

I bought my first leatherman from you, or at least from the gadget shop in london, around 98 I think. Used it until I misplaced it a year or so ago.

On both surge and wave you forgot to mention the wire stripper built into the can opener. Great video. Ended up getting the surge

I really like the Micra and my Signal, always with me, the signal is never in the top when people talk about Leatherman but i'm very happy with it

Would have thought the Free P2 would be higher up the list. Best Leatherman I've ever owned.

Great video! I've been looking to buy a Micra and a Squirt PS4 to add to my EDC for a while, but they seem to be rare as hell in the UK at the moment. I have both ordered from Amazon, but still waiting on stock since August.

I've been carrying this leatherman wave every day for 25 years now. I've worn out 3 sheaths, but the tool despite constant use is still in perfect shape. I don't like the wave+ nearly as much. Wish I could get another just like this one though.

Wonderful and informative video, good sir! You earned my subscription and a thumbs up. Just wanted to put my 2 cents in and say the Leatherman Free P2 became my all time favorite multitool BUT I did choose to void the warranty by replacing the Phillips and flathead screwdrivers with an aftermarket, exchangeable bit driver that worked with BOTH Leatherman skinny driver bits and standard 1/4 inch driver bits. Which I ordered online for about $25 and, in my opinion, that made the Free P2 far more useful and my favorite multitool. For about 3 months, until I dropped it into a lake while fishing. If the water wasn't freezing cold, I would have dove in after it. Alas, Cochiti lake claimed my favorite multitool for the fish to awe at, as it still sits on the bottom of the lake. Sad day indeed.
