You do the most amazing job with your reviews. I literally look you up when I'm wanting a review on a trailer. Plus, you provide comic entertainment. LOVE IT!
I really like the layout of this and that camp kitchen is awesome. I noticed they took the time to build drawers in the dinette but they are not full length. I wonder what they are hiding back there in the dead space. I'm not ready to purchase yet but I couldn't find anything with this camper that would be a deal-breaker for me. Awesome hybrid!
Very impressive. I find my mind being opened up more and more by your videos, in terms of preconceived notions I've had for years about what is "good" and what is "bad". Thank you for your service.
My husband and I watch all of your videos and we love how descriptive that you are ! Thanks for your honesty and all of the details that you include. Hello from Windsor, Ontario!
Drat’s! once again my dastardly plot to listen to 7 second snippets of royalty free (3:32)music on the Haylett RV channel has been foiled…..well at least we got to see a pretty versatile camper😜
Josh, I can't wait to own one, my short coming right now is a proper tow vehicle but I feel like Rockwood took their trailer design to a whole new level. I never used my out door grill because of mess and cleanup but now with a remarkably large out door kitchen and a griddle that changes every thing. I also really like the height on the door for the out door kitchen so on windy days you can still cook outdoors undercover. I am 6'5" so your take on the size and roominess is a welcomed plus on all your videos I for one do appreciate your reviews, thakyou!
Josh: Yes. Please continue to show your videos with slides retracted and in travel mode. Can’t stress enough how valuable this information is to people who like and want slide outs (doesn’t include me :) ) Being turtle friendly is good to know if part of the philosophy of use is going to include rest stop and fuel stop overnight “camping” This is especially true with hybrids where, if it’s raining, you may have to pack up with wet canvas. Respectfully, WS
I always enjoy and usually laugh watching your videos. I even learn stuff! Thanks for putting out the great content that’s become my daily entertainment.
We just ordered our 235s can"t wait!! Any chance you would do a video on the 12 volt fridge/solar package as I'm anxious to learn more about this system just to be ahead of the game before getting our trailer.
Wow very nice for the summer. I thought that was a baby hammock also lol. Love the colors and solar. Great job. God’s blessings and thanks for sharing. Stay warm and safe. ❤️
Rockwood Doing Rockwood Things... I Say it all the time. It sounds stupid. But the more you see of them the more you realize why I say it all the time lol :)
The refrigerator and solar package are probably about the same price as a 3-way refrigerator freezer both in materials and labor. It is good to see this! I can't wait to check out the 2023 model review. I'm getting the itch to upgrade from the pup.
Good brand of tires. More reliable I bet. Glad it had a DVD Player too(I think)(It looked like it). Nice heated mattresses also. Storage behind the T.V. was cool too. I bet it's really convenient to be able to control the Control Panel from your cell phone. When you raised one eyebrow, I thought you were gonna do an Impersonation of "The Rock" lol. I'd have to say that I like the "Scrubbing Bubble Stable Steps" the most lol. Good tour, thanks.
This is the camper I have my eye on. The one thing I’d like to see is a water source at the camp kitchen. Ideally with a sink, but could just be a shower head and no sink. Just want something to rinse hands and do a little cleaning around the cooking area.
Congrats! I don't care where you got it -- just want to say "thank you" for watching! Please stick around to share your thoughts/experiences as new videos roll out!
@@ericwarner2513 storage tubes mounted underneath for rug and awning supports, door screen guard, rear hitch carrier, lighting dimmer, water filter, the list goes on
We have had a leaky hybrid in the past. This looks amazing as long as it doesn’t leak. What a great, exciting video. Good deal. I just wish all the dealers would push the manufacturers for 5 year warranty
Longer warranties are certainly a possibility, but are customers willing to pay for them? That's really the question. Historically automobiles did not have the longer warranties they feature today. When their warranties extended vehicle costs went up accordingly. Warranty coverage is not a no-cost item unfortunately. People also tend to keep vehicles longer than individual RVs (which have a 2.5yr average ownership period). So a long term warranty that would be lost would often result in extra up front cost to the original owner without the full long term benefit for most people.
Having been in a pop up previously, use the front bed for the heavier / only people. The tongue jack will help stability and prevent unintentional wheelies. Great unit!
Did it not have rear stab jacks to prevent the wheelie-effect? Fun Fact: I didn't put jacks down on a popup when showing a camper to a lady and long story short we ended up in a very compromising position on top of one another upside on that rear bed. Thankfully she saw the humor in it. One of my top 3 more embarrassing moments at work
@@JoshtheRVNerd we had a Coleman Grandview SP, which has king beds (front and back). Heavy people on the rear are pretty far beyond the rear stabs, while the tongue jack is under the front bunk. I would have laughed my rear end off.....
Also, we have the white and grey package and I think it looks so much more slick than the brown. I'm not sure I like the new wood color, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.
@@Saintly2 The answer is actually pretty simple but not necessarily pleasant: It wasn't popular enough and didn't sell in the volume they require to maintain it within their lineup. The hybrid RV market has been waning for a while. So much so most builders stopped offering them. I've long felt Rockwood offered the best hybrids out there and as testament they're really about the only noteworthy hybrid builder left today. But even then as their murphy bed models have grown in popularity their hybrid campers have diminished. Only the most popular models have remained and this sadly was not among them.
Has anyone ever thought of replacing the outside kitchen with a washer dryer? not necessarily in this unit but any unit. You already have water power and drain.
A Hybrid has been high up on the want list for styles. I look at other trailers, but I keep coming back to a hybrid. I really like the pop-up beds. I grew up tent camping, and listening to rain and crickets is something I was concerned about with all of these sound proof RVs now. Thank you for showing the access with the ends up and slide in. Plenty of sleeping space. I plan to do some camping in bear country, and I know the parks may limit it to hard sided camping only. Beds up, plenty of sleeping space! Any chance of not having the outside kitchen? Such a small camper, I'd rather have usable space. That and I really don't see the point of an outdoor kitchen.
TY for sharing a bit of your life today, Penny! The camp kitchen is a standard item. It could easily be removed aftermarket, but not something Rockwood will flex on currently with their production demand.
We want to step up from our pop up. I really like this hybrid. Only thing I could see that I dont like is the carpet. I could not believe the amount of storage for hybrid.
Hey Josh...very informative and fun to watch. I may just consider this rig as my first rv purchase. Question though, can those beds hold a 300 pounds person???
This is the first hybrid I have ever seen. I was shocked to see how nice and all the bells and whistles it has. This would be great in a bear free area, I would be scared a bear would slice open the area over the bed. I had a bear push in the window screen on my camper last year. Bears are jerks and I have a mother who's den is close to my house and every other year she has twins and her brat baby's come in my yard and cause trouble. It is a nice camper tho
Hybrids have waned in popularity, but Rockwood continues to find success with them. I think it's because they don't "treat them" like something different. They load up their hybrids the same way they load up their Mini Lites. I would also advise you kinda can't judge hybrids just by what you see from Rockwood. I've never seen another brand that does all the bells and whistles they do. MOST hybrids are quite flat/plain/bare inside. #BearsAreJerks
Did I miss you talking about the temp in there on that day? That would have been good to know. I'm interested in hybrid but wireless about climate control
Josh, thanks for the great info on this amazing hybrid! I'm 6'4", how's the headspace in this one? Will I fit in the bed? How about under the outdoor kitchen door?
6'6" Sidewall with 2.5"ish mini vaulted ceiling Walkaround around you'll be fine. Your head will be solidly "in the bubble" in the shower You should fit under the camp kitchen door pretty easily
Hi Josh! Following you from PA! Love the vids! They are VERY informative and helpful as I am in the market for a camper this yr. Anyways... I had an odd request. Lol! Many of the rvs come with outdoor speakers, indoor speakersand/or a soundbar. Im curious as to how they ACTUALLY sound. So i thought, who better than to do an rv sound system review than you!! Lol! Is that possible? Keep up the AWESOME work!!
They outfitted that trailer very nicely, you could leave that completely closed and still be able to use most of it. My biggest concern with hybrids is the bed ends getting wet right before you need to pack up and leave the campground, being solo most of the time if I know about rain in advance though I could close this up and still have a sleeping spot. Just curious, have you had much feedback on those pop-up gizmo type things? They'd help in hot or cold weather with keeping the bed ends at a more consistent temperature.
I sure wouldn't be sleeping in one of these in sub-freezing temps personally. There's only a sheet between you and the outside basically. They're spring/summer/fall RVs in my personal view. Perhaps another viewer has some add'l input
Love what we see (speaking mostly to you Josh -.0) but we have a question on the material around the beds. About how long does that 5ply tarp like stuff usually last and does it require any special treatment? Love your page as always and thanks!
Hmm... I'm sure there's one or two but nothing popped into my head off-hand.. Hard to put a BIG thing like that in a small RV. usually the best you'll get is a little mini fridge and a grill hookup like on a lot of wildwoods and wolf pups.
This is actually I pretty cool hybrid travel trailer! And question for u, cause I’ve always been curious. But how well do these stay cool in the summer and warm in the shoulder months with those fold out beds? I figured those would let a bit of heat in during the summer and cool in during the shoulder months, or do they? And another question, could u fold out one of those beds in real time and put it back up cause I’ve always wondered how they are deployed and stowed away, thanks Josh. Keep up the amazing work big man!!! And I’m thinking clantry or clontry tainment center.
They definitely struggle more in more extreme weathers. In the summer time there are reflective foil covers you can get for the bed ends some folks swear by. I have never tried them personally (but I don't hybrid camp so....) This summer once weather warms back up I'll try to make some real-time footage.
I am a bit taller and walk under it easily. I don’t have specific measurements, but I demonstrate it in this similar Rockwood here m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kNiJE5V8nCQ.html
how long does the canvas part last ?? i am interested in a unit like this. But i worry about the longevity of the canvas. Do you still stay relatively warm if it a little colder at night with it ??
Typically the longevity of the bed ends isn't an issue. They're stowed away most of the time and actually get less weather exposure than nearly anything else on the RV Regarding heating and cooling - it'll never be like a hard sided trailer. It's just a fancy fabric between you and the outdoors, but it won't be like sleeping outside naturally.
5/8 tongue and groove plywood with aluminum joists I actually have several Rockwood factory tours where you can see their construction The Roo and the Mini Lite are basically the same same trailer so that video will probably give you the best information
I've camped in popups and full wall TT, but never in a hybrid. When you did the outside walk around, I didn't see any support arms for the bed ends. How are the beds supposed? How is the canvas attached to the floor?
There are aircraft cables anchored *inside* the bed ends that give it an impressive 1,050lbs load rating. Plus all the bed end material is C-Channeled in place so you don't really need to pull/tug/set anything. Just bring down the bed, make sure the skirting is flipped over the edges, then put up the shepherd's hook for the bed and you're done. It's like 30sec per bed.
@@JoshtheRVNerd sounds a whole lot easier than I was thinking. My uncle had an old 100% manual scissor arm popup. It took 45 minutes from the time to unlock the roof latches to fully camp ready.
The hardshell cover on the back? That's standard (though they ran short for a while and had to use slip covers briefly). If you mean the tires on the ground -- MFGs don't include those that I've ever seen (we have them on the shelf of course)
I realize this is an older video but will ask anyway just in case anyone knows -- How many inches wide/long is the dinette when folded down for sleeping? Enough room for a 6ft adult?
It's not currently planned. That's Jayco's attempt at taking on this one from Rockwood ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6T0VAvFFLuQ.html We carry both brands, but folks flock to that Rockwood by comparison. It just muscled the X23E off our facility over time
Not sure how to answer this, Bill. They've been doing extremely well over this season against all odds. I cannot say the same for every brand out there. But Rockwood has really earned my respect personally!
That is not a brand we carry at Haylett RV so I won't be able to provide a full video for one unless it rolls thru used. With that in mind I would advise that my knowledge on the more specific details that help "Define" them is quite limited to what I can glean by glancing thru their website real quick. I don't believe in bashing other brands though and as a courtesy to you as a viewer I would say that I don't see anything that overtly scares me from a "Surface level." Again, understand I don't have a great grasp of the details. I like the idea of that sliding king bed, but I'm curious about it's benefit... if it just slides under the wardrobe, then what is really gained? I do like the idea of putting the fridge in the slide like they've done too. That'll open the space up in there quite nicely. I would ask you to take a peek at a similar offering we have from Coachmen in exchange if you wouldn't mind! :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-006a89JTq2s.html
@@JoshtheRVNerd .... just watched your review of the 257bh ... and wow. Storage everywhere... nice set up , and my wife likes the no carpet. Just subscribed , and you sir are one of the best reviewers out there. Non biased , funny , and point out all the little things I wouldn't have thought of. Thanks for being professional, and humorous. Although we live in florida , I am going to spread your name and channel to all my friends , who are thinking of buying an RV. Thanks again !! Stay warm !!
Would the 235s be too much weight for a 2004 Dakota crew cab 2wd? I did take the 4.7 liter out and installed a 5.3 liter Chevy engine out of a Tahoe. Just wondering about the actual weight of the Dakota vs the weight of a Tahoe or Silverado.
@@JoshtheRVNerd several years ago we had a Jayco Jayfeather. It was nice, but small. On the hybrid RV owner forums, those that moved to fully enclosed trailers or 5ers were said to be moving to the “dark side”. That’s one sweet rig you showed us
@@JoshtheRVNerd Hmmm so would there be price differences or really are you just buying one or the other for the name and exterior look? Shane and Nina say Hi! They bought a Minnie off of you a little over a year ago. I sent them to you. :)
I wish the other color on the lights was red. Blue light is horrible for your circadian rhythm (sleep signal), while red light can be used as a nightlight that won't kill your night vision and will allow you to fall back asleep.
I've seen that mentioned plenty of times before, but weirdly I have never had personal issues with light affecting my sleep. When i'm ready to go out.. I go out. My brain activity is my biggest hurdle.
Maybe I missed it but what is the weight rating on the beds? We never fast forward your videos, we laugh with you. We are sorry we missed you when we dropped of "Wilson" ( the wife does not like the name I gave it lol).
Apologies I am not following - carpet in the bathroom? There is none Did I perhaps slide the carpet square in there they send with the rv to help keep it clean?
Hi Dylan! Thanks for watching! Sandpipers are certainly sharp RVs but they are not featured among our lineup currently. Something similar we'd have on hand here may include this one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v-SS8wGWWEQ.html or perhaps a Cougar 32BHS
Nobody ever shows the Roos with the window flaps open. 😢 Google it - there’s nothing. I really want one of these so it feels like sleeping in a tent with the convince of a camper. Also, i don’t like the closed in feeling of our Winnebago trailer. I just wish I could see what it’s like to see out. Sigh…
@@zacharygross460 I still cannot provide a definitive answer. Again there's a lot of details that need checked. What I am seeing is you can _probably_ handle this one safely But I strongly advise you to speak with a member of our team who can speak with you in person to verify all of this
Haven't seen it from any factory yet but you can get 3.3 and 4.5 cubic foot 12V fridges in the aftermarket. Swap it out and use the AC fridge for your dad's pop fridge at home =)
Only a few specialized products. My understanding is the cost vectors on them are still pretty out of whack and considering the material cost surcharges MFGs have already seen this year they're doing everything they can NOT to add money to the RV currently
