Fiskars looks like it performs slightly nicer at machete things. If you had to be chopping saplings but only wanted a machete instead of saws or hatchets, I guess the Fiskars machete axe would be an interesting option then.
This is a very relatable video, because I too just got an S22 and have been looking at these exact two machetes for the past few days! The choice is tough, because I like the chunky, weighty look of a bolo, but since I live in a very similar environment (Latvia - mostly small brush or softwood), the Fiskars makes more sense. In all honesty, for camping a good axe would probably be the most reasonable choice, but I've dreamed of having a machete since I was a kid, so I'm willing to sacrifice some of the efficiency. I really trust in the quality of Fiskars. Between the ergonomic handle and weight balance, I'm starting to lean towards it. How's the thickness on them? Are they about the same or is one considerably more rigid than the other?
Gosh, the thickness is really close. I would say the Fiskars is a little more rigid than the Gerber which seems to have a little more flex. I've found myself using the fiskars almost exclusively since this video was made.
Where did you read that the Fiskars that it is 3/4 of a full tang? Do you know if the tang is also thick? Because I like the design of both those blades and I'm debating which one to get.

I've got just 2.6 acres of land and needed something that I could use for basic trail clearing on my property and you answered all my questions.
