Hi Ah Hong. Thank you for featuring my mom's shop, Kwan Pastry, in your video. 谢谢你! My parents were really happy and have been watching your video repeatedly hahaha. You really made their day! Thank you for helping us reach new customers and for showcasing our shop!
Cheers with Kopi Siew Dai 😆😆😂 Thanks for the nostalgia old shopping malls videos ❤ Keep it up I always love your friendliness with shop owner and your interaction with your sister Huat ah
loving your videos since i chanced upon your video of my childhood mall katong shopping centre. will be looking forward to what kind of content you will be doing when you've covered all the old malls in sg.
Never went City Plaza before, what an eye opener, thanks for showing us around the mall and the heartwarming atmosphere with the friendly people there 😄
Wa hair salon that sells cookies so impressive. Hong & sis r formidable! Friendly, authentic, precise but not too fussy, just enough suaning and retorts... I m proud that Singapore has our own old-school mall YT channel. Congrats and thank u!
No prob. Interestingly after last watching this vid, I asked my Indonesian SPR if she frequents City Plaza, she said that mall is for maids. I didn't know if I shd feel embarrassed or wat😅
I like this place Mian fen Guo soup their chilli is super spicy and their mani vegetable not a lot of places have it. My fren like to buy their chilli to eat soup stuff they love it and also cannot remember which level there is one fried chicken shop always a lot of people. I have not been there when covid till now. Did not know there is a corner pastry shop. One day will go there walk walk 😊😊😊 thanks for the recommendation.
My house is walking distance to Katong,Joo Chiat Complex,Geylang Serai Market and Food Centre,Paya Lebar Square,PLQ and City plaza + Geylang + Aljunied !!😝😝😝 黄金地段,我不会卖的 !🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for featuring this once popular shopping centre. May I know if you have covered Katong Shopping Centre which many years ago was very popular like City plaza.
Hi Hong & Sis Hv enjoyed ur old mall series thoroughly, & look fwd to more. I love City Plaza! Have shopped thr several times pre-Covid for my D&D shoes. My go-to is the L2 shoe store (Midas?) that's not far frm Popular... not sure if it's still operatin nw tho. 😅 Would recommend shoppin at City Plaza for some relatively bank-friendly loots to "应付" CNY / D&D / othr events. 😉
True. The stuff there seems to be on a reasonable price point. Just bought a trolley bag there the other day for work and the auntie really knows her wares. I think that’s something great about owners running their own stores too, they always seem to know their stuff very very well.
@@HongisBoredYES!! And besides them knowin their stuff vvv well, the store owners are friendly too! Much better cust experience imo 😂 Can evn try & bargain (reasonably of course!) also if u're buyin multiple items frm the same store. 🤭🤫🤭🤫 The few times I was shoppin thr, the store-owner aunties were quite willing to give "discounts" (eg. $5 off total purchase) if I bought several items frm them. 😊
Just wondering why your sister doesn't eat with you. But when she tries the food, for hygiene purposes, should use another set of utensils lah 😅. Overall, I enjoy watching all of the videos. Nice to revisit old malls especially those almost forgotten ones.
My house is just around that area. My late mum used to cut her hair at the saloon at level 3. Level 5 is all the good foods. I have tried the Pan Mian before, tastes good. I like the Arnold’s chicken. My friend used to work at the Watson store at level 2 or 3.
@@HongisBored Lol... My family moved into Haig Road when I was 4 years old. At level 5, they have a stall selling Thai-style boiling see hum. I wonder if the stall is still there.
it was my playgound in my 80s-90s, i remember 2 lv go the first arnolds chicken, actually 5 lv old food court can go to carpark and then carpark can go 6 floor playgound
Hello Hong, there's a bakso shop (beef ball with meehoon) that only open on weekend! It's quite pricey starting at $8 but if you like spicy, you should add all their chili and sauces, really bagus. Many indonesian foreign workers patronise that, with super long queue! It's right at the kopitiam same as meehoon kueh. Try visiting on a weekend to portray the "reality" of the mall 😂
I live in the west but go to the popular dentist in City Plaza. After that will go to Arnold’s - the best fried chicken in Singapore. I think there are shops there selling clothes to the legal working ladies in Geylang and those working in KTV.
@@HongisBored Just surprised that you did not film the original shop of the legendary Arnold’s fried chicken who has been there for ages. I think those shops selling kinky clothes must have closed down during COVID as the KTVs and the red light district in Geylang were also closed during that period.
@@nicholasgoh3526 Actually we did film Arnold’s chicken, just that coz we sore throat never eat, so not much to talk about and never add it to final cut hahaha

Hi Ah Hong. There are still many delicious snack and food you didn't try. Example, western food at level 4, finger food at level 5. And many more things to explore. I would like to invite you to city plaza for part 2 to explore. I can sponsor you on some foods. Thank you.
Very kind of your Joey! It seems you really love CP haha. If we doing 2nd episode, I let u know! Can drop me a DM on Instagram @hongisbored and we can connect from there. Cheers!
I have not been to City Plaza for more than 30 over years ! Back then I would occasionally go there to tailor make my company’s dinner and dance outfits . The must go place was Shakey’s Pizza 🤤 My favourite pizza was the one studded with chunks of steak all over 😋 It’s really strange that nobody seems to remember this place . Has any fellow baby boomers been to the Shakey’s at City Plaza ? Please share 🙏
@@HongisBoredIn the 1980’s , company D&D were usually held at hotels . Sit down dinners , compères/hosts to coordinate the entire event/entertainment , best dressed contests , games , lucky draws etc . You can imagine 1980’s heavy makeup , big hair and bold vibrant over the top fashion 😹
@@Irisbeacon For sure. BenRanAway has been a huge inspiration to me. Some of my favourite SG youtubers. I too shy to ask them, we're still quite new haha! Maybe next time!
@@HongisBored thank you Hong, I really want to try the ban Mian, stay in west travel time at least 1 hour. I love that you mentioned they are not arrogant like those famous stall Yaya papaya
I've never been to City Plaza. Thank you for your delightful introduction of the mall. And you are such a natural in front of the camera Hong. Good job!
Did u guys see any glow-in-dark dice being sold at City Mahjong Centre? Very had to find these dice nowadays. The board games shop in the video should be Momo Gadgets which sells mainly online so I reckon the shop kinda double up as their warehouse.
@@HongisBored Used to play a lot cos ran a BG cafe last time so it's my job to learn first n then teach others how to play. Have not been playing for many years.
i used to go city plaza when i was a kid. still rmb there was an arcade and food court at the top level.... Wow those were the dayss.... didnt know Hong can do magic, impressive!!!
