LS2 valiant owner here. The single color helmet is $299 from multiple retailers, and my Sena 10C mounts perfectly fine right under the chinbar hinge. It's great with glasses, the vents are very functional, unlike other ls2 helmets, and the chin/screen are a joy to use. The glass has couple of built in stopping points, so it's easy to leave it slightly cracked, leaving about 1/2" air gap, a feature not available in any other helmet I've owned before. The sunshade is excellent in operation, sun protection and coverage. If you looking for negatives, the microphone is really hard to mount because of the forward protrusion. The opening shape is kinda weird and takes getting used to. It's rather heavy overall, even by modular helmet standards. Just like all other LS2 helmets, the interior liner has that fucking cord around the perimeter, pain in the ass to reassemble. The styling is unorthodox, so not everyone is going to be impressed. But I do get many positive comments from other riders. The 180 degree flip is a great feature. And for the money, there is no competition.

I almost bought one yesterday. But then I tried on the Neotec 2 and it was all over but the crying my checkbook made when I took it home. The Neotec 2 really is that good. I still like what the LS2 does thought. Extremely functional in design.

@duroxkilo 5 лет назад
@@Kornholeeoo That is my take also... but in all honesty some riders don't go faster than 50mph on a regular basis, so noise might not be a big issue.. the Neotecs are nice looking, well made and extra quiet but also too expensive for the occasional rider. I like mine but it's not the one I use the most.. be safe, have fun!
@Kornholeeoo
@Kornholeeoo 5 лет назад
Durox Kilo Yep. I totally understand the price issue. I have a half shell that I wear if I’m just going to putter down to the store. Fastest speed would be like 40 MPH. But if I’m gonna be on a highway or interstate, it’s gonna be the Neotec or Schuberth. And although I do love FortNine’s videos and the wealth of information this site brings, he’s all about the weight. I’ve never found 1800-1900 grams to be heavy. But I’m a bigger dude so maybe it’s more noticeable to others. 1850gms is just 4lbs. I remember when kids were way heavier, LOL. I partition some studies when California passed the helmet law back in 1990 or so. The data they used to pass it was totally flawed and skewed to make it look like it was a no brainer. Had they put out the factual data and not twisted it to their favor, I doubt it would have passed.
@adammfharris
@adammfharris 2 года назад
@@Kornholeeoo Can’t hold a candle? I tried the Neotech 2 aka the brick and the c3…. Needless to say I ride in the HJC Carbon. Lighter. Still debating on if it’s quieter. It’s close close. The good part is the carbon version is different in a few areas, the bad part is the carbon version costs the same as the Neotech 2

Ls2 lifts the visor when pulling the chin down. That's an awesome design
@russ02281990
@russ02281990 6 лет назад
stewillett ls2 also wears out faster then most, they are made cheaply . They seem to offer superior value for money until 9-12months down the road and you wonder why your helmet is now noisy as hell and starting to wear out. I have had several friends who will never buy another ls2 again I have one who has same helmet as here, the chin bar latch is worn already he has to close it rather hard to get it to lock. Compairing to my shark evoline yes the shark is twice as much but it's also still tight and still comfy and still works as the day I bought it about a year ago. This may not hold true with all ls2 helmet but it does on the few I have seen which is every ls2 helmet I have seen. LoL
@TheAsheybabe89
@TheAsheybabe89 2 года назад
@@russ02281990 spot on. LS2 seems fantastic for features, finish, and comfort at their price point. But they become insanely loud. My LS2 assault became unbearably loud after three months when the seals on the visor became useless. . My brother has an assault that did the same after around 10 months, though he rides way less than me. I replaced the LS with a Schuberth and relegated the LS to just bring used to drive to work. I eventually had a wreck on my dual sport near home when I hit a dog going about 45mph while test driving after a sporcket change. The LS2 did see me through to no head injuries, so I can't complain on that end for $170

I’ve owned the HJC, the Schuberth E1 (aka, C3 Pro) and now the Neotec 2. Hands down winner is the Neotec 2. Proper sizing. Comfort. Quiet as the E1 without getting a decibel meter, just my opinion. Locks without having to manipulate the cheeks. And it’s the first helmet in my life of 48 years of riding that when I put it on, it doesn’t fold my ears down. I have no problem with the weight and it feels lighter when at speed. It doesn’t rock forward on my head like the stiff neck roll causes on the E1, so my eyes are in the center of the visor opening. And my head fits in it like a hand in a well worn glove. I have a 61.5 cm head and the XL is spot on. I had a 2XL with the E1 but needed a 3XL. HJC??? 4XL to fit my head!!! WTF? Anyway, the com system arrives today. Cardo needs to step it up with their contracts as made-to-fit com units are the thing of the future. And by the way, the neck-roll Cardo unit on the Schuberts sucked like a $600 Dyson vacuum! I actually tossed it in the garbage after a year. So hard it rocked the lid forward so bad the visor opening was on top of my eyebrows and the regular neck roll was not much better. It was quiet, I’ll give it that, but I cannot tell the difference from the Neotec 2. The HJC? Well it’s not too bad for a budget lid. I was able to sell it for just $50 less than I paid for it and dude loved it but he had a quiet bike. My Harley is obnoxiously loud and I love it! Thanks for the video. Good stuff here!

Since my crash in 2015, with my girlfriend on the back, we never used modular/flip-up helmets anymore. The helmets were closed at the time of crash, but if she had it open it would damage her face. Btw, we were only going at 25mph when a lady decided to jump the STOP sign when we were just in front of her.

Ryan, as a US rider I take exception to your comment about ratchet helmet straps. For 8 years now I've enjoyed riding over 200k (miles) with Schuberth C3, C3pro and most recently the E1. I can secure or release the ratchet quickly and easily with gloves on, compared to those annoyingly cumbersome D-rings. Plus Schuberth offers a 3XL size that fits me well and I have yet to find with any other modular helmet. Now with the E1, i appreciate the detachable peak, which works well as an eyeshade when riding directly towards the Sun. My only real complaint would be the nearly useless PinLock, which I removed after finding the view both more blurry and not particularly effective on reducing fogging.

for the past few years, i've used a Zox Condor helmet. I found that for just over $100 its been a great bucket. Its got washable and replaceable inserts, hyperallergenic, deep ear sockets for comms speakers, good venting, nose guard and chin curtain, and fits nicely on my XL noggin...also, i found that the bronze inner visor has been brilliant on days that are very glarey and when used at night, really cuts down that blinding headlight glare but also seems to make the lines on the road really stand out, almost as if they were underlit

Going from a HJC ISMAX-2 to a Neotec 2, gotta say the neotec just feels all around better. More solid chin bar in both up and locked positions. Also the neotec fits my dome a bunch better. the HJC liner had this really bad sewing spot on the forehead area which left a painful dent across my head after wearing it a while. Modified the stitching for it and that did help.

I purchased the RPHA-90 as a replacement for my much beloved RPHA MAX EVO, and was much disappointed. The fit was not as good, but worse was the wind noise in the helmet. On the same bike the difference between the MAX and 90 is astonishing. I ended up selling the RPHA-90 again and buying another RPHA MAX EVO. I have over the years has Multitechs, Neotechs and Nolan modular helmets, but the HJC RPHA MAX EVO takes the prize for best modular in my book. Really a shame they don't make it anymore!!!

I've owned a Shuberth since 2014...at the same time I was skeptical and purchased an HJC as a spare and my bro bought a Shoei. We ride year round in heat, cold, wind and rain. In 2020 my Shuberth is still functioning perfectly while all the other helmets have rotted and torn liners, broken vents and strap clips, but the Shuberth is totally intact. Most of all...the aerodynamics of the Shuberth doesn't get caught by crosswinds and gusts like the other helmets, especially the HJC. I suggest real world testing rather than a lab test. The Shuberth not only out performs in durability, but in the wind...and it can handle sweat without rotting. My bro even replaced his shoei with an Arai, but it's liner rotted too. I know where my money will go...and none of the helmets you reviewed will get a cent.

Great video! Bought the Neotech II with SRL and have been using it for a few months. I really don't like either, so the price results in buyer's remorse. I do not find the helmet to be quiet, nor do I find the SRL to be loud enough or to have decent sound quality. I do like the Neotech for the plush cushioning, its seal against rain, and the ease of sun visor deployment. Otherwise, I dislike the lack of D-ring on the chin-strap and that the front visor cannot be cracked to be just barely open. The SRL voice-com doesn't listen, cannot be heard well, but does have nice exterior weather-proofing. I guess YMMV.

After using both AGV Sportmodular and Neotec 2 for two months, i can tell you the weight is not everything when the comes to quality. The AGV aftersales is non-existent, the helmet liners keep coming off everytime i take off the helmet. The neck strap liner on the AGV is non-removable, this will be an issue when the liner get smelly over the time. As for the Shoei Neotec 2, surprisingly Shoei hide the weight very well. I rode for 2 hours and i feel the weight is well balance and i dun miss the extra lightweight of the AGV. To each its own, I sold the AGV and keep the Shoei.

Dont mess around if you want the quietest, comfortable, and most aerodynamic helmet on the market spend the money and get the neotech 2 this guy has a problem with shoei helmets they are the most popular high grade helmet on the market for a reason!!

I had my local parts monkeys order in every single high end modular helmet they could get their hands on not long ago. I had a few more models than you have in this video. I tried them all. I picked the AGV Sport modular hands down, I was in love with the helmet. I opted to wear it home. I made it 4 miles and turned around to return it for that damn chin strap. I wanted to love that helmet, but the chin stap made it un-wearable. My next pick...the HJC RPHA90, believe it or not.

I have the old ls2 and it’s convinced me that a modular is a very useful helmet to have. Next time I’ll invest a bit more as its heavy and loud but good. Great vid.

Bought the HJC (the exact one (IS-Max II Magma) shown at 8:34 on the bottom there) last year! Been an absolute joy to own and use! Awesome value. Wouldn't mind the slight upgrade to the RPHA tho.

A Caberg Duke/Tourmax is basically the safest modular helmet you'll find under 200 bucks. For that price you get : -p/j certified helmet -5 stars SHARP rated -Drop down sun visor It honestly sucks that Caberg helmets aren't available outside of EU, I'd love to see you review a Caberg Tourmax.

I’ve got a pure white Valiant and while I don’t really have a frame of reference, I find it quiet - but I hate noise and would often wear earplugs in restaurants and can’t sleep ‘unplugged’, and my ears aren’t fatigued. I guess a lot depends on how the helmet sits on one’s head and how tight is the seal around ears. That flipover chin bar is a godsend, though - makes a world of difference riding in hot weather in slow moving traffic.

The LS2 is the REAL evolution of a modular. Truly a full face and truly a 3/4. The others are knight visors that hang over your heads when open and if that's the time you fall, will jerk your head with such force when they hit pavement, shoulder or B pillar that you may end up with a broken neck. The other four are just redecorating the old design. 3/4 have been around on street bikes for 60 years, as have full face. The idea that something truly spectacular is going to come out of this years design is unlikely for those two fixed styles. In reality ten-fifteen years ago any helmet from China was considered murderous counterfeit junk. Now they are the norm. The last decade of "announcements" has been the counterfeit factories learning how to make a quality product that had already existed in Japan, the US and Europe decades before. First run knockoffs are typically bad, but eventually the knockoff company may get as good or better than the original they were copying.

Where is the Caberg Duke 2?? 5 stars Sharp rating for safety (safer than the Shoei), tight, quiet, enough ventilation, nice visor and drop down sun visor. Very happy with my one, sturdy but light. Apart of that, keep up the good work Ryan! You're the best mate!

Great review! I have first bought neolec 2, it is heavy, it creates hot spot on my head and can only be used with outdated sena comm. I have returned it. Than i bought AGV Sport modular! What a mistake! Built quality is very bad, my helmet was replaced as the side panels cracked and it took AGV two months to do this. The comfort is very bad due to the choking strap. It could have been a great helmet, but it is not. Now I'am back to my C3 pro and i love it!

Awesome video Ryan! Like always. One thing. My HJC 90S Carbon was the same price as the Neotech 2. It’s 2021 now, but know if you get the HJC in Carbon, you will not be saving any money.

I have a Schuberth C3 Pro (2 years and running) and honestly it is a hard helmet to beat. Shoei might have nudged it out of the "quietest" slot (barely) but I can still buy a brand new C3 Pro for $300 less than the Shoei for what equates to nearly the same helmet. Don't get me wrong, the Shoei is nice, but it's not 30% nicer. In my eyes the only real contender here is the RPHA 90, which is only a little cheaper than a C3 Pro, louder, and as you mentioned in the video - has some cheapness to it. I would rather spend the little bit more for the quality of the Schuberth. Yes, it might be considered an "outdated" design, but it still works wonderfully.

Man Canadian dollars throw me for a loop every time I hear them because they're just close enough to sound maybe right. Also I think your neotec 2 had a factory defect, those vents are buttery smooth on every model I've seen.

Hey... oups... can you remind me your name? I find your videos on bike stuff the best! They contain all the technical I need and they are produced with humor and as sci-fi movies! On thing though: I am sure there is an audience in Canada for your videos in French... and I am sure you have great French since, if I'm correct, you lived many years in Montreal. Bonne continuation dans ta passion.

I really wanted a good mid priced to premium flip up helmet. Had my heart set on getting one. I even had my list of pros and cons for different models. Then, I saw what you, yes you Ryan, and a golf club did to a Shoei Neotec. All the warnings from friends came back to me in that moment. I always blamed it on the victims having cheap brands but now I can’t shake the uncertainty. That being said, that was a hell of a good video though. 👍👍👏🏾👏🏾

Stop selling HJC, they aren't as good as everyone claims they are! They are loud and under ventilated (despite the amount of ports). Only plus side, is that you can brag it's cheaper and outperforms nearly every great lid in some way.
