@@ryanm7654 Shangela being in the bottom aside, you can’t tell me it wasn’t a clever idea. 😂 Regardless, Carmen still fell for it. If only she brought her A-game. Would have had that category in the bag. 😔
The saddest thing about this is that 10 seasons after this aired, they are still treating Latinas with an accent badly. Alexis explained it well. They couldn't argue their way out of the elimination process because it wasn't there first language and they were placed in the bottom
For real, there have been plenty Latinas who have gone through RPDR and definitely deserved to win or at least be top three and the judges stayed doing them dirty.
@@MiaG2012 spill like jessica wild (easly top 3 over jujubee or win), alexis was neck to neck with raja and manila and yara was almost in the top the whole season, lineysha in S5 was the most polished and she was robbed the first challenge and packed a win in the second episode and the list continue..
@@juliosolorzano889 My favorite, Nina Flowers made it all the way to top two and they took it from her right at the end. Then Ru gave her a "you're amazing" speech. I was like please. She deserved it and they knew it. Like why keep accepting the Latina Queens to then keep throwing them to the side, c'mon. Ru is missing out on some gems. There are plenty of winners who definitely didn't deserve it.
I feel so bad for Yara and Alexis because they really called out the riggory of the money ball correctly. They knew they were being screwed over and props to them for talking about it.
@@demonslayer4951 piñatas? 👀 nah, they had construction, shape and concept. Tbh Manila and Rajás were 90% crumpled and shredded bills laid over fabric.
@@emmanuelmmunoz The gown by Raja was the best out of the Top 4 that episode. She couldn't have been in the bottom and Manila really gave the best first 2 looks. The judges may have liked Manila and Raja more but in that challenge, those 2 really looked better in the challenge. Raja's outfit was literally unmatchable on that stage.
@@ashishsingh4867 rewatching the runway I can see how Raja’s dress is a standout. Plus it helps that she can sell sin to a nun with that walk. Her cocktail dress was cute too. But I continue to believe that Yara and Alexis used the money much more creatively and in many different ways. They left no stone unturned. Manila’s is mostly crumpled money on fabric. I can see why they would be frustrated with how the other girls got praise compared to them. Especially since Manila and Raja got more time then them. I’m just saying I understand them in that moment and that they undeniably turned it out.
@@emmanuelmmunoz Alexis's was cool, but Yara's was a mess. It had shape, but it was way too much and it needed to be edited. Manila's was more simple but she still looked amazing and had the best first 2 categories. And Raja's money ball look is one of the best constructed looks on Drag Race like ever lol
"you're so snatched you have very feminine features" "but so do you though, and you too, and you too, and you too, and... we... exchanged notes." "why did you point at everybody else but me?" 😭😭😭😭😭💀
No they got rid of that in season two because juju got wasted. Like she was really drunk during her black velvet lipsync so production made it a one drink limit
Apparently the S3 girls still managed to smuggle in more alcohol from buying it from the store close to the studio where they filmed. The early seasons pretty much let them do anything and go anywhere outside of filming and now they get locked inside their hotel rooms thanks to the casts always being spoiled online
I heard - I think on Race Chaser - that it was actually vodka in those bottles around untucked, and they would sneak them onto set with them and get wasted lolz
I mean by today’s standards, yeah it was. But mind you, people back then were not as educated as they are now, the conversations weren’t as prevalent as now. Ten years really did made the world’s difference. So I don’t think it’s fair to judge by today’s standards.
Not untucked but Alexis reading Michelle” it’s stupid to make comments about my breast plates being fake, I mean you purchased your implants” gagged her real good
Back then I guess Shangela thought it was more about being the celebrity, even though Shangela was just doing herself while referring to some Tina Turner songs, and less about making the celebrity funny. Which is how it is nowadays.
Not transphobic. Drag is about creating an enhanced look, an illusion, surpassing the ordinary. That is what is said. Whether that is a man in a gown, or a transwoman, does not take away from the fact that the look has to be something special, even if if the esthetic is 'fishy'.
"I think at this point is just about who the judges like the most" Alexis, just look at All Stars. They literally waste episodes just to crown the girl they wanted from the start.
Eli her 2 in 1 look was the same week she was heads and shoulders above the rest of the cast in the maxi challenge (Shequels). And OK, so she should have been in the bottom because of her padding when Katya gave us nothing and Ginger wore the worst runway outfit of that entire season? It’s not like she won the lip sync challenge, she was just safe and would have been in the bottom if Katya and/or Ginger did better. I agree licking Katya was gross though, but she will be the first one to tell you how wrong she was for doing that. At the end of the day, she still dominated - we got one of the best Snatch Game and acting challenges from her, she smartly created her entire paired comedy routine to play to Alyssa’s strengths and won, and her and Katya gave us the best commercials we have seen on the show. She deserved to win whether you like her or not.
One of the things that bother me about this season is how Alexis and Yara were treated as if they didn't know any English while the actual issue was the accent, they knew how to speak very well, but the rest focused on just the accent not sounding American enough
@@Emile.gorgonZola they spoke very well. People who only understand English don't know what it actually sounds like when people can't speak a language, since most people pick up English quite quickly because the principles are simple. They may not have been at native speaking level, but they're fluent. You can understand them perfectly well. Occasional grammatical errors are a given with any second language.
@@anya1253 right like that would never fly on the show today like when shangela said “is this America’s next drag superstar? Or America’s next tr***y superstar?” it’s like girl how are you on your second season of drag race and don’t even know trans people can be drag queens/kings, like trans people literally fought for lgbt rights and freedoms to do things like dress/perform in drag. Without the trans people at stonewall, we might not even have drag race today. Like she probably owes her livelihood to those trans people that fought so she could go on a TV show about drag queens and dress as a woman. I hope since this season her views on that stuff have changed cause I know this was a long time ago
@@bryh555 The read was to Carmen for relying on looking “pretty” and being a “woman” (at the time I don’t think Carmen had transitioned or even spoke about it yet) So it was moreso a way of Shangela saying they should be bringing bigger DRAG to their looks and not relying on just basic “pretty” and being safe With that said, it still is rude in general because of what you said. Trans individuals are the heart of the drag community anyway
THAT WAS THE FUNNIEST EDIT EVER! IT GOES FROM DELTA SAYING “I’m not a fucking Buffoon, I’m not a fucking idiot” THEN CUTS TO ALEXIS “IM A FUCKING DRAG QUEEN” WAHAH
I think people can change also but I agree some of the comments where out of line but not trying to make excuses season 3 was ages ago and people can improve through 11 years and 11 years ago trans people where and still can be looked at negatively which shouldn’t happen
@@lexikimbo7909 true but wasn’t she also sneaking down to the super spreader events in PV during the beginning of the pandemic 2020 as well? To avoid lockdown? IJS
@@Queen-ty1xz you’re completely right and you should say it!! People were calling out the transphobia back then too, rupaul just didn’t care until it started affecting his coin. The point of drag is the performance!!
The way that Yara breaks down during that lip sync still breaks my heart. She was so defeated. I genuinely believe that Raja was set up to win season 3.
@@shahd986 I believe they became friends after the show cos Raja posted a bday greeting for Shangela last 2020. or they were really ok with each other and the beef was just for show.
not shangela talking the most, sturring the pot even more and then when raja stands up for herself all of a sudden shes ''being attacked'' oof i hated shangela before i cant lie
The way Raja and Shangela hate each other through this season, I love it. I feel the drama when the Heather clique go on Shangela and her friends, or who she thinks are her friends, stays in silence.
I can't even blame Yara and Alexis for feeling so defeated towards the end, IMO the cake ball Carmen should have been in the bottom instead of Alexis because she had a green sparkle tube dress and Alexis at least made a conceptual look.
@@jaredmanuel8609 wasn't the she-mail controversy in Season 3 that she got dragged for? And also she has a song that features the t-slur and ppl dragged her for that as well. I get that it was back then and it was a different time but Rupaul has been cancelled for her old actions too. Not just what she said after S9. She's definitely held to a different standard.
@@a.b.c.x.y.z.2967 Looking at these dumb comments is so funny How was she insecure? Reading someone for their body is the most basic ass read And babes, shangela ain't shit
I don’t know how Shangela had the nerve to call the Heathers bullies when she was one the cattiest queens on that season Same with Alexis hating on any kind of drag that didn’t look like hers
@@yapasdepanneau7934 india is not forgettable (perhaps for bad reasons) and how dare you call one of the only two Emmy Award winners of the entire franchise maybe forgettable
Season 3 introduced me to Ru Pauls Drag Race. The Entire Season, Untuck, the Confessionals, the Shade, the Heather and Booger War, and Shangela was the be-all end-all.
10:32 shangela’s face at being told carmen shaves her ass cheeks lmao ALSO CAN WE TALK ABOUT ALEXIS “I DONT THINK YOURE THAT PRETTY” AND CARMEN’S ENITRE EXISTENCE IS DESTROYED IN AN INSTANT LMAO
Shangela acts like bully. Making the rules for everyone. And why is nobody talking about her being so unaccepting of trans women being on the show? I don't remember ger being called out for this, nor do I remember her ever apologizing or retracting these things in hindsight. Correct me, if I'm wrong.
That’s so sad and wrong hearing Yaja saying to Stacey “you look like a transsexual” or Alexis talking about Carmen’s body when they later both came out as transgender. I’m shocked that they did that being part of the drag and LGBTQA+ community. Like wtf ?
i’m not ignoring but personally i think she’s grown a lot and knows that it was fucked up of her to say that. but that’s just how i think but really who knows
@@hailey-rosevintora6211 You mean at the reunion? AFTER SHE SAID ALL THIS SHIT AND DIDNT KNOW SHE WAS TRANS 💀💀. Girl your delusional trying to retell history
Wow the boogers were so transphobic (Shangela, Alexis, Yara), and I know those were different times but damn that was rude then and is rude now. Funny how shangela was able to build the narrative that Raja was the bully and not her though 🤣
I caught that when I watched it the first time how Shangela hates on everyone when the time comes and gets jealous very easily. Her total issue with Raja was just jealousy.
@@FriendshipIsMagic1998 She won 3 challenges and all of them, rightfully so. She was put in the bottom when she deserved to be. How was she even favoured? If anyone was favoured, it was Shangela. She should've been Bottom 2 for the cake challenge and not Stacy.
@@FriendshipIsMagic1998 And how is that so? I mean when did they favour her? Which of her placements were unfair? She wasn't favoured. The judges liked her. But that's because she was serious for the competition and still not taking herself too seriously. They liked Yara. They liked Shangela a lot too. It's just that she just did what she was supposed to do. Even for the money ball, there was no way in hell that she could be Bottom 2 after making a gown that was clean, beautiful and creative. The judged liked her but they didn't favour her. If they were to favour her, she'd be saved in the makeover challenge.
