I went and tried one on earlier today ( very comfortable and light weight) came back and ordered one from the sportsbike shop. Went for the chest pad as well. I liked the idea that I could wear pretty much anything over the top when it gets fresher. Already have enough kit but you know what it’s like. Glad you rated it, enjoy the summer.
Yes very nice I like it think it will be my go to every ride from now on knowing I can wear whatever I want over the top of it 😁. Back and chest armour is good but not in this 31 degree heat 🤣
I wear mine in 30 degrees - I'd rather sweat than bleed! I have several jackets and this is my favorite. I agree with the sizing. I am always a 2XL butt had to go up to 3XL, which was a real surprise.
What is your chest circumference? I couldn't find one locally, so planning to get one shipped. Wishing to avoid to-and-fro shipping to get the correct size. Comparing your chest size and your selected size (3XL) could help be with a better baseline starting point.
It looks like the ideal jacket for this unseasonable weather were having. I like the idea of just chucking whatever theemal/waterproof over it rather than spending a fortune on a decent waterproof CE motorcycle jacket. One question, how does it do with bugs? Do they get stuck in the mesh?
Depends on the bikes' protection, I suppose. I've only noticed one bug on my arm, but it was easy enough to wipe off. Fantastic for this weather and like you say any weather due to the layering. I just wish I'd found it sooner 🙃
Ordered one after your glowing review, arrived yesterday, don't tell the Mrs 😂. I went for an L and the sleeves are still a bit baggy round the elbows. Took it out for a 100 mile ride ride round the Lochs yesterday and it was like having Aircon once I got moving. Belt loops a bit fiddly to get on and off but definitely made me feel more secure. Love it.
@BillyHey72 haha brilliant it's a fantastic jacket isn't it I love mine. And it'll be the only one I wear now even in winter you can just wear something over the top 😁😁
Ive had one for a few years. Would recomend - only niggle which they have addressed on new aaa ratted version is not enough pockets. It was designed to go under a jacket but if wear on its own only one small tit pocket. I am going to buy the new model as ive been so impressed with my old one just because of pockets.
@@ConstantThrottle1 Same with me, CE Level 2 all around. It's Perfect. If it gets cold, I wear a wind-stopper jacket, and then really cold, a Thermalite® 120-gram jacket. I'm toasty warm. I also have thermals for my legs and a rainsuit. I'm set. This Knox MK3 is perfect!( 44 inch, 112cm chest, XL)
@mrbjay5443 same size as you fits like a glove I have the pando moto skin uh03 on the bottom half they are a perfect match for the knox as I can wear anything I want over the top half and bottom 😀
@@ConstantThrottle1 I use the Knox Action Pro Unisex Trousers upgraded to Level 2 on them. They are abrasion-resistant, impact protection, and unobtrusive since they are incredibly thin. Those Pando Moto uh03 are also very great for the legs. I heard about those, and since you mentioned them, I checked them out! Quite a legging! Now Revit came out with the Proteus Jacket, very similar to the Knox. I haven't seen any comparison reviews of the two. The Proteus has a chest protector and a waist belt/ kidney belt. Tome visually, they are the same. Until someone does a comparison, that would be good. I just Love my MK3. It fits perfectly, is light as a feather, and can wear it alone or under any jacket. It's my garment of choice. Great review!
I find it slightly too hot in the summer unless you wear it against your skin but I only have the mark one…you don’t notice the thumb hooks once u get ur gloves on!
I've been wearing a gym t-shirt and found it OK, definitely better than a normal bike jacket, and I just couldn't put up with the thumb loops maybe I'm just not used to having them on but they just don't feel like they sit right
@@ConstantThrottle1 I never found the thumb loops placed correctly in any gear I had, whether riding gear or football gear. It is always offset to one side.
How is the space around the biceps and upper arms for the XL size? I have relatively thick biceps and upper arms. In a review of the MK2 model, an owner commented that there was not much give in the arms and he couldn't recommend them for someone who regularly does weight training, which dissuaded me from buying at that time. Is the fabric under the arm made of stretch material? Do you think bigger-than-average arms can fit?
Yes suppose it does but nothing bad I just unzip it a little bit when I notice it but usually it's OK. I was thinking honister before this 1 but it's thicker and wouldn't be as cool in summer which is why I went for this one 👍
You want a long t-shirt under for shear protection. You need the outer material sliding over the sleeves of the undershirt in the event of an off. Otherwise there is a real risk of losing the skin. Also, a black summer jacket is an oxymoron. ;)
Thanks mate. It’s just a little confusing as I’m a 43 & based on Knox official size guide it’s a L but online retailer’s size chart recommended a XL. Just tough that where I live doesn’t have any store selling this.
@JoshW yes thats what I thought also sportsbikeshop and urban rider both have different sizes also. If I were you I'd go XL and you won't be disappointed 😁
