Thank you for showing the different homesteaders. I really love watching all the different channels. I do not watch TV anymore. i just watch all the families on RU-vid. (When I have time ;) The reason I started my channel was because I was super ill, and I really believe if we give our bodies what they need God has designed them to heal. And I try to encourage and show that it can be done. I work FT and I know a lot of people I work with still eat processed foods, So I want to encourage others to cook from scratch and grow their own food, or support the local farmers. Thanks again!

It is nice to see how your family has changed with the ups and downs of life. This is a part of preparedness most people don't think about. Planning for the "end of life as we know it" is fine, but it is the little changes in life that will effect you more. It will be nice to see how a family moves with the punches and adapts to the changes in life. I feel you guys are doing a great job, and I feel blessed that you are will to share this with us. - Jeff

I agree 100%. If we can't handle real life and roll with the punches what makes us think we can survive a REAL emergency?

Also wanted to add, you can do very well selling things you do not need or want anymore on ebay. People will buy anything and you do much better than other methods of selling. All you have to do is box it up and send it, the buyer pays the shipping. Merry Christmas, Connie

You’ll have made a Science out of homesteading. I started this lifestyle back in 1977 and am now at my 3rd location. I now live in Northern Arkansas on 1382 acres. We have 3 large homes all off grid. My electricity is hydroelectric. I also have my own gas well. My income or cash crop is hay. We have satellite Internet and TV. And cellphones. I am a Ham Radio operator, and a commercial pilot, also a amateur musician. When I started out “ Mother Earth News” was just getting started, I also keep up with the Foxfire movement of Appalachian history and folklore. Both sides of my family were poor but thrived during the Great Depression. I have not tried to do any videos Here on RU-vid, but like watching other people’s. I am 67 and had the misfortune of being injured a few months back. I am living with my daughter right now. My son and church family are running the farm and doing very well I mite add. I love seeing you young people doing this!

thanks for this video, though i already am followers of all these homesteaders. i would have to add Jamie and Jeremy at Guildbrook Farm to the "must watch" list. Al, Gina and Olivia over at Lumnah Acres are the nicest family you ever want to meet. i went to their pig harvest class in October and it was a great time. i also was fortunate to meet Doug and Stacy at the Mother Earth New Fair this spring in Burlington Vt. they were very welcoming and easy to talk to. i've gotten so much good advise from them. Deep South is great but the region where they live is so different from my North East grow zone that they often aren't relevant to what i need. still i have also learned much helpful food preservation and preparation skills.

Hi i have a question ,years ago there was this homesteading family channel and i don't remember what's it called ,the family had kids most were blond ,i think they had some animals too ,1 of em a girl she usetoo like making jewelry so she'd sell on Etsy and this other boy would like be in dungarees or short t-shirt and would go on the green truck idk what happens to them ,if i remember correctly one of the videos also had 1 of em start learn driving with father by her side.. they ALWAYS had an intro too with names and everything ... The one who sold jewelry on Etsy i remember her and another one of her siblings had a fan mail video too where they opened mail from their fans n stuff.. if anyone knows much appreciated ! ,Simba

We use a lot of pallets and follow the tree trimmers. I have only purchased cage materials once, everything else was stuff I already had and made do with. TruValue is the best and only place to get rabbit cage wire without having to buy a 100 foot roll. It costs about $30 to get enough for 3 cages that will last a farmer's lifetime.

Cycletivity Imagine if the people in this country were to pass a law making the use of fertilizers, pesticides, GMO's and intensive animal farms illegal. This would be the right thing to do, our food would become healthier, the earth would begin healing, and the abusive use of animals would stop. A homestead would become worth its weight in gold even an urban homestead and we could live healthier, more sustainable, and closer to the heart. Makes me think we should do the right thing?

Really appreciate that you did this. I know some of those channels and agree they are great. Will check out the others. It is a mixed blessing for me, as I’m sad I might never get to make a homestead. Your videos still could use better ... movement or editing.i often feel like your aiming camera in wrong direction. Less in the guests face, more showing what he or she is talking about. When showing a home get a overall view incoming first too. No offense, no big deal, just my POV. Everyone has different talents, mine seems to be criticizing =O

Meat is not sustainable, If you do some research, suggesting Dr Oppenheimer, you will see that the planet is becoming depleted whether animals are raised sustainably or not. Please take a look at the research, dear brother and sister
@turkeyhollowfarm1866
@turkeyhollowfarm1866 6 лет назад
So without meat you got no fertilizer for your vegan diet! Got to have nutrient cycling regardless of your beliefs. Last I checked your veggie scraps won’t provide enough compostable material to sustain your gardens/crops. Unless you believe in chemical based fertilizer you gotta have animals and their synergistic symbiotic contribution that it takes. Additionally unless you grow all your own plant based food? Being a vegan isn’t sustainable either.
@waytogoraw9965
@waytogoraw9965 6 лет назад
Please do some research. Read the book by Dr Oppenheimer,, We don't need animals for food or chemical fertilizer. Please please at least read up. Science is the proof not opinion. Blessings

I was there with the animals for a long time teaching my renter. It would be no different from selling my animals to someone I trust. They have not lost any animals or had any get sick. You go elsewhere if you choose but please don't put strange parameters on me that don't make sense in the real world of farm animals.
@brendaogara2543
@brendaogara2543 6 лет назад
For health reason , I can see but animals get used to us. I won’t give or sell my animals they are apart of my family , I have children and that is heart breaking for them. What are you teaching them ? It’s ok when you want to do what you want it’s ok to sell or give away when the poor animals love and trust you .
@dirtpatcheaven
@dirtpatcheaven 6 лет назад
I don't leave until the animals are used to the new person. I think leaving their home to travel for three days straight to a new and scary place would be more frightening than staying home and being milked by the same lady who has been doing it for weeks now with me. They are home, they are safe, they are happy. If I breed every year I have no choice but to send some on to other homes and I vet those homes very carefully. It makes me sad to leave them but it makes me sadder when an animal dies because it went across the country and was stressed by the experience.
@toffer99
@toffer99 6 лет назад
Maybe you shouldn't watch ANY homesteading channels, then. Most of them seem to involve killing and eating something. I used to watch one, but the guy pulled tomatoes straight off the plant and ate them! You could almost hear them scream! Seriously, if you can find food anywhere which does not hurt animals, its probably on a homestead -certainly not in a chain supermarket.
