RACHEL TUCKER IS A GODESS. She's even more amazing live! You can literally see the tears streaming down her face, you almost can't believe you are actually there watching it!! Her Elphaba is extremely close to the book and in my opinion, she portrays it better than anyone else ever has. She IS the best elphaba there has ever been, no doubt about it. Sorry, rant over, can you tell I frikkin love this woman?! x
Was there on Monday, 22nd November 2010. Rachel Tucker and Sarah Earnshaw were FANTASTIC ))) First time seeing WICKED !! Going again in 2 weeks in London again. ))
i was there when she did this and my god it was incredible fourth time ive seen her and 7th time ive seen the show and this was the best no good deed ive eva seen both vocally and acting wise! her acting was phenomenal in this song!
I'm not Rachel's biggest fan but even I can say that when you see her live her voice goes right through you and gives you shivers. It's pretty incredible.
Hands down the most unique singer of "no good deed" That crazy fierrooooo is just too much. It's incredible. I heard this in the theatre and Rachel Tucker's voice goes through you're heart and gives you goosebumps. My favourite Elphaba EVER! (i've seen 5 different elphabas). Paired together with Louise Dearman as Glinda (who's now playing Elphie in London) was jusT magic...breathatking singing..!
Rachel Tucker, perfection. I went to Wicked last thursday and it was a dream come true, i love it and can watch it over and over!!! London CD with this cast THERE HAS TO BE ONE!
I was at this performance was the best ever her acting just topped it off in this! tears where streaming and yet she still had the voice to nail a vocal performance like this she is just incredible x and this was a wenesday aswell lol x
Chills... all over. She was absolutely FLAWLESS when I saw Wicked live. In fact, no she was better than that... there was something extra in her performance - her HILARIOUS comic timing in the beginning, and the perfect, natural progression of the character into a much more grown up, dark one and this song... I've always wanted to be an actress and singer, but on film.... I saw Rachel, and as the curtains closed I decided there and then I was going to be on the West End! :P She's... inspiring.
I love Rachel Tucker, I saw her and Louise perform this Tuesday and Wednesday, Wednesday I was sitting in the second row of the stalls right next to the stage, and these two are just superb~ Rachel Tucker's "No Good Deed" simply blew me away on both nights, so I had to come and listen to it again. Thank you for uploading it~ :3
WOWWWWWWW!!! Awesome, I wish I had the vocal capacity Rachel has. You can see how passionate she is about her job and that she treats it as a career, rather than a chore, you can see some performers just want to rush their way through the performances however you can tell Rachel feels the words, can build up beautifully to climaxes and riff with the right emotion. Such talent is rare, all the best to her :) x
just heard this for the first time and gave me goosebumps! omg i saw wicked on tuesday and louise dearman was elphaba and was amazing but this was wayyy better love rachel ! x
Thanks for the upload! I'm performing this song (along with Defying Gravity) at a concert tomorrow night, and Rachel Tucker is the Elpheba I saw when I went to see Wicked last year. Before then I was certain I wanted to be a film actor, but now I'm not so sure... saw her and was like *MUST.....BE.....ON.....WEST......END!!!* lol :P Really annoys me that all the video footage has been taken down, because now I can't watch different ones to draw from... -.-
@malcolmlewis013 Every Elphaba actress brings something to the table. Me myself I prefer Rachel Tucker for No Good Deed, but listen to Dee R. for defying gravity. I like her "Look to the western sky" and "Renown"
WOW! definitely cleanest voice ive ever heard for elphie, and she puts a nice growl into one of the notes that ive never heard any other elphaba try O.o cant say a lot about her acting unless i see an actual vid of this, but damn it sure sounds like shes killing the role. & she really nails those riffs. jesus christ, i didnt know you could put so many riffs into the word "do" and make it sound good. if i ever play this role, id study her elphaba thoroughly to get some good ideas.
The thing to remember with musical theatre is that the theatre is supposed to come first. If they can play the part well, like Idina and Rachel really did, then they did their job. The singing should be believable, not just sound nice. That's the important thing to remember about any theatre-are they convincing? That's an actors point of view anyway.
I saw Willemijn play the role in Dutch a couple of months ago. I really liked her in the role. Anyone looking for her singing in German watch?v=qCUInhl56wY In Dutch watch?v=y4umAt9HDoI
that was really good! :) I think I would work on the "Fiyero where are you?" bit, but otherwise, Great Job. could you actually film yourself acting this out? I would love to see your acting abilities too. :) oh and could you record "Defying Gravity" and "I'm not that girl?" I'd enjoy that. two thumbs up. keep practicing and you'll be a great Elphaba one day. :-)
As much as I adore Idina, this is by far my favorite version of No Good Deed. You can hear all the emotion in her voice, and her "Fiyero"! Omiword, I get these chills
you really have to expearience her live she penetrates your soul with her voice...literally you are heartless if you arent left awestruck at the end of defying gravity or no good deed
I saw her last night for the first time and wasn't expecting how good she is! Wow move over Kerry Ellis and the rest of em! There's a new Elphaba in town! ;)
Not only is Rachel freaking amazing, she also looks very good green (not all Elphabas look good in green). I hope she comes back to this role; I'm dying to see her play it.
I've said this before, and I'll say it again. She is everything Kerry was, and more. I personally got the impression that Kerry was drop dead amazing, but she never really tried that hard and (other than her last show), she seemed to be bored all the time. Rachel, on the other hand, has Kerry's talent and boy does she use it. There's so much passion, and so many riffs without overdoing it! I loved Alexia so much, but Rachel is definitely a more than worthy replacement.
so you guys are all professionals but have never heard of singing classes? you know, they exist, and I'm pretty sure they teach you how to sing in singing classes, because well hints the name.
@welshjoe21 I actually get choked up every time I hear "If you can't find me, look to the western skies," in any recording of the song. I loved the song so much when she sang it. ^^'
I never said I was a professional. And you can try to teach someone to sing but if they don't have a natural voice they'll never be as good as people like Idina and Rachel.
this is still my absolute favourite recording of No Good Deed on the entirety of RU-vid!!! not only are the vocals AMAZING but the percussion in the orchestra sound epic!!! not many recordings really capture it
i want to like the last AGAIN.... but i just don't.... it doesn't go with the music and it almost sounds like she's sung the wrong note. I'd be VERY surprised if the producer allows her to do that.... and i kinda hope not.
She does have amazing riffs in her vocal and I in no way mean for this to sound as though I dislike her performance but .. After seeing and hearing the original cast ie; Idina as the lead, I have to say this does fall short for me personally but I do understand why the rest of you all seem to like it, she is very very good.
ahhhh still LOVE the percussion in this!!! it seems the guitarist has taken over the drummer latelyy though as amazing as louise dearman's last show was i thought the percussion that night was really lame...
I wish there were video of this. You can tell that she is SO much improved from the video of this number that is floating around on RU-vid. She is incredible. This bit always ALWAYS makes me shiver and want to cry. She's so passionate; it's amazing the way she can belt out the high notes, yet still have such passion in them.
I'm in musical theatre and I personally don't think that the acting should comje first. Everything should be equally. My aunts a a director and my cousin's and opera singer in New York. They both say that you can teach anyone to act and dance, but you can never teach someone to sing. You can try to train their voices but overall if your a bad singer it'll never work. That's why I think Rachel and Idina are both so amazing. They incorporate both their amazing voice and acting into their work.
You should, that's true, but, as an actor, the acting does come first. I'm not claiming that an actor should be a single threat, she/he should be able to do it all and well, but...to make a song like this powerful and mean as much as it does and make an audience member understand the pain or the hurt of the anger, they have to be an actor. The truth is, there should be some differences between the two. Truth be told, some of the best are pitchy and strange, but you simply believe it.
Rachel and Eden are my two absolute favourites. I can't decide who I like better. Especially this song. They both really capture the conflict of emotion Elphie faces. I really like Idina's acting, however I'm not a huge fan of her voice. I'm not saying she has a lack of talent, I just personally prefer the richer, darker tone of Eden and Rachel. The power and emotion seems so effortless for Rachel, and her stunning voice. I feel sorry for whoever has to fill the shoes of Rachel Tucker.
@unidan82 I think she just needs to hold that top note a little longer, and then it would fit in to the music. Nobody has ever done it like Rachel (that I can think of), but there have been other Elphabas that went up to that note and it sounds great because they held it longer. And actually that is my one complaint on some of Rachel's performance, she is really strong and then barely holds the high note at the end of NGD.
To everyone discussing who the best Elphabas is. First of all, its a silly thing to do. You cant compare two singers that way. Its purely Subjetive. and if you try to objectivly do it Idina is in no way the most skilled singer. Even so, I recommend that you check out Willemijn Verkaik do the role. Its in german sure but she has one of the best musical voices ive ever heard.
All actresses that have taken on the role of Elphaba have been truly superb. I do favor Idina in that her singing and speaking voice were so unique as well as her physical characteristics. Somehow, her sharp facial features and the green makeup complimented each other. And she had great chemistry with kristin and nlb. Rachel is really amazing here though.
Oh my gosh. This woman is amazing! Her riffs NEVER fail to impress, she is an amazing actress and portrays Elphaba as best ive ever seen. She is just stunning!
@pilchard96 Rachel Tucker, perfection. I went to Wicked last thursday and it was a dream come true, i love it and can watch it over and over!!! London CD with this cast THERE HAS TO BE ONE! i agreee, it will be criminal if one isn't made!
I did work experience here in feb, such a lovely current cast they were all so genuine and fun. It was amazing to see the magic of how everything works in such a fantastic show :)
