The Monstercat Best of 2016 compilation is a special time for us. It provides a snapshot of all of our accomplishments in the past year, both our successes and our struggles. Most importantly, it is a representation of who we are, the community, artists, and staff that make up this great family that we call Monstercat.
This year has seen a departure from our focus on genre classification. Often times these titles become the focus of discussion surrounding a release, and can sometimes overshadow the inspiration behind the song. We believe that in order for the entire community to continue to grow, we must set aside labels, and focus on the individuality of each artist. With that being said, in addition to our Best of 2016 album, we are also launching the final Best of Genre compilations to mark the end of a much loved Monstercat tradition.

It still saddens me we will never get a Best Of DnB & Drumstep Vol. 4 :/ This is easily one of the best DnB/Drumstep mixes out there. (This is volume 3 for those who don't know.)

I don't understand why you think he didn't work on it. All the post by Darlington says is that he didn't "ghost produce" it. Varien still worked on the song, and still gets royalties from it. He just didn't work alongside Rootkit during the songs production.

look at other mixes, they dont want ti repeat artists alot, i think its mainly because some artists get alot less attention due to popularity of others. long story short these mixes wouldnt be as good if they were filled with the same artists that have alot of popular songs.

I actually do enjoy both this and the Future Bass mix in different ways, this here is pure dope to listen to, like during a cold/cloudy/windy day, and the Future Bass one I listen to during the time of year where it gets warm outside (it's Springtime right now), and during the Summer evenings as well too (since I remembered enjoying Future Bass itself back in mid 2015). :)
