This man is the literal definition of a living cartoon character. Everything about him is so lovable, not just the fact that he’s massively committed to Harry and his plans but also the fact that he can go from being angry and cocky to screaming like a little girl 😂
This is EXACTLY how you make a funny character that all ages can enjoy. He’s not an annoying kid friendly comedy relief, nor does he have too much adult humor either. They absolutely nailed his role.
and daniel stern nearly didnt do the role either. as the schedule had been increased from 6 weeks to 8 weeks and there was no increased payment and hence he quit and another actor was cast as marv. however the director found there was no chemistry between joe pesci and the other actor and luckily they came back for daniel stern to recast him. thank god. i dont think any other actor could have pulled the role of marv off better then stern
Daniel Stern was the main star in this movie, playing so good this character so good and being so funny with his reactions, I can say the movie wouldn t have been the same without him
I wondered how that friendship really started? Between Marv and Harry I mean.. I would like to see how that started like a short film.. or maybe something more in-depth like was Harry always so mean? Or was Marv always so gullible? Maybe these are just my questions.. but I would like to make a cartoon.. about their friendship.. that would be interesting or a comic? Or maybe a fanfic..
It's funnier when you realize that that's the same woman from earlier in the film, where he gets his hand stuck on her handbag, he tries to hit on her, and she slaps him.
Marv's scream from the spider makes me clutch my chest crying every single time lmaoo! 🤣 All these years and it never gets old. Best part hands down! 💀😂
the amount of times he's gotten whacked in the head, dear god... I love Marv, he's the best part of these films IMO. His facial expressions are so hilarious!
Harry - HEADS UP! Marv - *looks up* huh? 😂 Also the bricks thing was the funniest! He was so funny to see! Daniel was phenomenal and I also loved Joe as Harry, his voice alone makes me smile like an idiot lol
marv: yeah, kids are scared of the dark harry: your afraid of the dark too marv, you know you are marv: no i’m not! that should have been in this video
I would like to agree but at the end of the first movie, the part where he and Harry corner Kevin, the Marv threatens to put a nail in the poor child's foot.
@@Alnair7224 Just trying to impress Harry . Sure he’s trifling as they come but as far as killing can’t see him doing that . Now Harry YES in a heartbeat.
@@sugarthedogyt3573 Again I would like to agree but In the middle of the second movie Marv along with Harry after capturing Kevin decides to go subway tunnel where they could execute him, and Marv seems to be OK with that. But wait, can be worse... At the end of the second film, after capturing Kevin for the third time, Harry pulls the gun on Kevin. . . . and Marv? he is more worried about PIGEONS flying around them than the fact that your partner, your companion at all times, your little friend of heart (Harry) is about to kill a child. And bonus, Marv tells Harry to hurry up and shoot in the pigeon lady. Even if Marv may not directly kill a person, he may be an accomplice to murder. Another bonus: He seems to enjoy robbing people and has a reputation of a burglar, so the argument that he does this to impress Harry is refuted.
@@sugarthedogyt3573 But I don't want to be unfair here. Marv It's quite a companion, following and trying to cheer Harry up even though he treats him like an incompetent (even though he is) sad to think that Harry might be the only friend he has. He must take the concept of loyalty very seriously. He's a good friend, a bad person, but a good friend. 😊
The funniest part is I only watched home alone because of Marv so to me this is really the whole movie LOL this is the greatest Home Alone clip movie whatever you want to call it ever made LOL
Marv was seeing a therapist during the years he worked with Harry. During each therapy session he spoke about various childhood shenanigans, whether they involved his grouchy father, his loving but sometimes overbearing mother, his hippie older sister, his bullying older brother, his childhood girlfriend, his childhood best friend, and various other teachers and friends, all of which would eventually lead to his nervous breakdown and turn to crime. Today, these sessions are known as "The Wonder Years"
The stunt men who helped joe pesci and Daniel stern deserve alot of credit your service and slapstick skills are the best and funniest things ever always a classic to watch at Christmas time thanks job well done you should be proud after all these years later thanks for the memories you guys rock ! Joe
Yeah I heard from a comment somewhere on a Home Alone vid that the spider scream was a legit scream since he panicked from the team having him free handle a tarantula or something like that. I forgot the exact details but I think I remember the person saying it was a legit scream
@@ezioauditore6371 it was a real scream. Stern even confirmed it. He initially didn’t want to do it since he thought he would agitate the tarantula into attacking him by screaming. The handler on set said that wouldn’t happen and he ended up agreeing to do the scene (on the condition for only 1 take!)
It's impressive how Marv would avoid 1/3 of the traps just by looking at the floor he steps on. Think with me, in the first movie he falls into 8 traps (9 if you count the Tarantula): 1 shotgun with lead bullets 2 frozen stairs 3 iron of ironing 4 another stairs with tar and a nail 5 christmas ornaments near from the window 6 toy carts on the floor 7 paint buckets on another stairs 8 rope between attic and treehouse In the second movie he falls into 11 traps: 1 necklace pearls on the floor 2 lever (who suffered from the trap was Harry but who helped its activation was Marv) 3 bricks being thrown from a roof 4 nail gun on a door handle 5 hole after the front door 6 soap puddle 7 electric sink 8 Cement bag with a rope 9 paint buckets and a pipe on the stairs (again) 10 Tool chest falling down the stairs 11 rope soaked in kerosene that later would be set on fire Now let's go to the traps he could have avoided if he looked at the floor First movie: 2 frozen stairs 4 another stairs with tar and a nail 5 christmas ornaments near from the window 6 toy carts on the floor Second movie: 1 necklace pearls on the floor 2 lever 5 hole after the front door 6 soap puddle Lol, be careful where you step :)
