Was looking for some advice. Have seriously debated about getting into VR. And question if it’s worth doing a valve index in 2024 or even going with a quest two. Vastly different power levels yes, but also considering pricing and text specs of my build. Have an AMD radian RX 6600 XT, overclocked edition, Intel i5 10400F CPU, 16 GB of ddr4 ram. As for games, one of the first games, I gotta get would be a copy of beat saber with the gaga music pack. Another game would use would be called American truck simulator where you drive around a big rig. So it’s not gonna be a very demanding build. But do love good video Visuals. I am in a wheelchair so that’s the other thing I question is if beat saver could even work for me. Love all your videos and was hoping maybe you could advise me on what it would set up would be best. PS live on a very tight dusablity income so that’s why this is debates. Been going strong for a couple years of my head on. What’s the best route?
The Valve Index is a very aged system that pretty much no one seems to be recommending anymore. Your video card may be limiting for VR. Native resolutions for headsets are at or above 4K, so a strong card is hugely important to get good visuals in more demanding games. Games in VR are much more demanding than you may think when playing the same game in 1080p or 1440p on a flat screen. Beat Saber is not that demanding though and I see very mixed statements about getting good performance in ATS with VR (which is not officially supported), so you may have to upgrade your video card or you may not have to. I would personally budget for getting a 4070 Super and if you don't need to upgrade, you save some money. The Quest 3 is an excellent headset with great visuals and a big sweet spot, so it's easy to get a sharp image. You do need to budget for at least a headstrap replacement with all Quest headsets, because the default headstrap is awful. The visuals of the Quest 2 are not as good and it's picky about where your eyes are due to the small sweet spot. You do save a lot if you buy it new and it can be great to see if you actually enjoy VR without a huge spend. There are also lots of people selling them 2nd hand, so you may be able to get a great deal there. The Reverb G2 was a very popular headset for using with a PC and if you can get a great deal 2nd hand, you can go for that too. Lots of people prefer it over the Quest 2 for simming. A big benefit of the Quest headsets is that they are very popular so there are lots of resources out there to help with getting things working. Another benefit is that you can play anywhere with standalone games, although I'm not sure whether that is much benefit to a wheelchair user. But because standalone is very popular, it allows you to get games that aren't released for PC. For example, games like Puzzling Places and Real VR Fishing might be right up your alley if you like fairly relaxing games like ATS.
@@aapje forgot to mention am runing a 75" LG QNED 4k HDR10+ tv as display curently. mainly lack of space for a physical desk setup. but for the most part dose the games i use almoust no issues. get slight stutter in final fantasy 7 remake intergrade. but thats much more demanding titles. hardest item to run is actually second life, but dosent really qualify as a games. and second life is aways a harsh mistress on system specs. most games me do are nothing hardcores or like that. sounds like the index is a no go though. herd quest can have racking issues at times though too. hence why was hoping for advice.
