Hi, yes there’s a chapter on sharing via Apps but the latest multi-audience feature came out after publication. I’ve posted an update here pbi.guide/apps-for-multiple-audiences/

Hi Wyn, I can’t really see the use case for embedding a dynamic PowerBI report into PowerPoint? A slide deck is often used to present an illustration of performance at a given interval. It’s a purposefully static snap shot which can be referenced and/or archived. However, having a dynamic component would immediately corrupt this record; as the report is refreshed, that would cascade through to all PowerPoint slides linked in to it. Therefore any accompanying narrative (variance analysis etc) within the slides becomes obsolete. In theory, it sounds like a fantastic way to integrate but in practice, it confuses the purpose of slide decks within a business content. In my view, the idea should be to mature business towards anchoring PowerBI as the primary media - not these clumsy accommodating nods to stuff which is old hat 🤷‍♂️ Anyway, here’s to 2023! The best of wishes to you and to the continual growth of this amazing channel 🥳

Thanks for the best wishes. To lock the slide deck you can "Show as Saved Image" that then is your slide deck done. Next month open a copy , untick that option, report refreshes, re-tick it and your updated static report is ready for commentary. Also it's rare that historic snapshots are ever looked at again (easy to PDF before / after the pesentation if really needed) , so current interactive presentations with a bit of commentary for the day of presentation can be very useful

@@AccessAnalytic Oh, that is interesting. I haven’t explored the tick/untick because of my assumption. If that does genuinely lock the slide in perpetuity - that would indeed be useful. I’ll kick those tyres in the new year. For legal reasons I have to retain all monthly reporting, which is then annually audited. I’ve long wanted to ‘kill two birds with one stone’ - a product which meets our operations board + satisfies governance.

Ah yeah power bi isn’t really built to retain snapshots. Archiving the Power BI desktop file and source data each month and PDFing copies of reports is the safest fully auditable approach I think.
