I remember watching rafa vs zverev. That level of tennis was just unbelievable. Ashame Sascha got injured. RG without rafa ist just like another masters 1000 for me
??? Wdym lol everyone watching was really worried because the closed roof and colder temperares were really affecting rafa and he was playin worse. In this video they even mentioned how he didnt even hit any forehand winners until the tiebreak. I remember watching it and being sad rafa was playing far from his best
Rafael Nadal may not end up with the Grand Slam record but he has to be viewed as the greatest competitor on a tennis court. Without doubt second to none. 14 French Open titles in 17 attempts 112 match wins to 3. That has to be one of the greatest sporting achievements of all time. I agree with the sentiment it is still totally beyond belief. It’s just incredible to consider the enormity of such an achievement. All those injuries could not dim the sheer will of greatness within.
@@rezadiputra6869 - Yes his withdrawal from his third round match against Marcel Granollers due to a wrist injury. He was also forced to skip Wimbledon. He made his return at the Rio Olympics where he won a gold medal in the doubles.
We want you back Rafa. Praying for you to recover from your injuries. Roland Garros will not be the same without you. We are going to miss your electric actions. Very enjoyable. You are a delightful to watch! Love you Rafa! .
Crazy how he has played so late into life and is still the best clay courter ever, and one of the best players ever. Hope to see him back soon. Also, nice touch stitching every point of the final game together👍
What Nadal does with his wrist is INSANE, look at his technique on some of the shots, it is ALL wrist work, shots no one even tries he routinely makes. Genius.
Brutal tennis from the Mallorcan... Opponents can only hold on for as much as they can but ultimately succumb to the immense brilliance of the finest clay court individual to ever grace the sports.... Vamos Rafa!!!!!!
Rafa's achievements at Roland Garros are probably invincible and will never be beaten. His feats at Paris are so great that it often overshadows his career outside clay and people think he is an average player outside clay. The guy has 6 Grand Slams , 10 Hard Court Masters Titles and an Olympic Gold Medal on hard courts. Not enough? He is a 2-time Wimbledon champion and a 1-time Queen's Champion. Even if a surface named "clay" did not even exist, Rafa Nadal would still have had an absolutely outrageous career and would still be among the best players of all time. Respect, Rafa; we love you, and we will always love you.
Correction -- Rafa has (8) GS outside of Clay. (4) US Open, (2) Wimbledon, and (2) AO. He has 8-8 record in Non-clay GS finals. If you take away the clay, Rafa still out-performs Andre Agassi, Stefan Edberg, Boris Becker, Ivan Lendl, and Mats Wilander in GS records. And these men were considered legends in their time. That pretty much says it all.
And that is with having to compete with Federer, Djokovic and Murray. Put him with the players some of the other people were playing against and these records would be even better
The French Open this year is really the FO! 14 times it was really the Nadal Open invitations with everybody invited to have a chance to hold the runner up trophy. Get well soon Rafa ❤
Well that depends on the way you're looking at it. From the point of historic importance, Nadal vs Medvedev at AO would still be better. But quality-wise and also probably length-wise, it could have been the match of the decade for sure.
@@leumas0412 No, it couldn't. 😂 The conditions were terrible and so was the quality for big chunks of the match. Let's not act like this was a classic in the making just cause it was long. Long doesn't equal epic
@@trullsengar9382 Well I’m sorry, but I don’t know what you were watching. I saw an absolutely epic battle with an insane number of breathtaking long exchanges.
@@leumas0412 There were a few great exchanges, but I'm sorry to say, that was not a great match. Worst conditions I've ever seen, loads of mistakes. It just wasn't that good and nowhere near the quality of the Djokovic match.
I don’t understand why fans dig on the big 3 and blah blah endless goat debate. Really its whatever you believe defines greatness across eras and records !! However how can any true tennis fan argue Nadal’s competitive greatness ??
Rafa is blessed to play on the clay ground I must say, and thats why he is called the King of clay! When he plays he is very determined and off course with so many years of his experience he overcomes the game and defeats other player . I wish him all the best for Madrid Open 2024. GOD BLESS HIM.
Crazy what this man has done especially on this court, i mean in 17 attempts , 14 RG Titles (112-3) loses. This should be marked as the hardest possible record to be broken in the upcoming years. And to be honest, i dont think that this record is gonna be broken. Without Rafa French Open feels empty , without excitement , less energy and all of a sudden just undefined… rafa has defined clay courts for almost 3 decades
Federer ONLY got 8 Wimbledon titles from his 12 finals, Novak got 10 from 10 at AO final but they both pale in comparison to Rafa's 14 from 14 in finals and he bagelled both of them in the final as well...Just mind boggling.. Even more, when he lost to Soderling in 2009 he had tendonitis in both knees which forced him to miss defending his Wimbledon Crown, His 1st loss to Novak was coming back from long term injury & when he lost in 2021 he was carrying an ankle issue which forced him off the court for 6 months... Just shows how insane his record really is....
Boy Rudd was a jellycake in the final, might as well have signed for that paycheque and just stayed for 10 mins, looked like he didn't believe he could win at all!
@@korninsao JAJAJAJAJ....NO didas estupideces, cuando nole empezo ser alguien Rafa y lleva un monton de GS y titulos en su haber....informate bien, fanatico, antes de decir barbaridades....
Alright, now it’s time for one more. Pete Sampras retired on home turf at the US Open, now it’s time for Rafa to do it in 2024. RG 2024, let’s go!!! I know he can do it😉🤩
People call Roger and Pete the emperor of GRASS. So what about Rafa? Is there a word in the world for Rafa of Clay? In 2007, when he won his fifth consecutive Wimbledon title, Roger was a god himself. So who will Rafa be at the French Open in 2020?
Hey hay......!!!!! We can NOW safely remove the word "GIVE UP" forever. Rafa is The BEST TESTIMONY for Roland Garos tagline "Victory Belongs to the Most Tenacious". No wonder he has as many, PERHAPS, none would ever even dream to have had!
Not really. Your boy Novak said that he wishes he never has to face Rafa again at the French Open 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Only one time Nole beat Nadal at the French Open which led to a championship (2021). He got his ass whooped by Wawrinka in the 2015 FO after he beat Nadal there. Nadal is also the only player to beat Nole in TWO HARD COURT GS finals (2010 USO and 2013 USO). Nobody else has been able to do that.
