Mr. Will van der, if I may . . . I recommend Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4. I have been listening to that symphony for most of my life since I discovered it long ago. I am over 60 years old now, and when I listen to it, it still sounds as new . . . as beautiful as the first time . . . I have recently delved into Baroque Era harpsichord music. Be well . . .
I am a Mongolian and I grew up listening, speaking and watching Russian music, movie and people. Oni ocheni dushaiya, dobrie, chistayie and velikalebnie...
Any thing an every thing coming from Russian is marvelous and beautiful. The music is in a class of it's own.I will most definitely be there after the pandemic.
No other music can make a person with a soul feel, feelings. Bless the beautiful people of Rus, the Slavic. I wouldn't want to be around a person who can't feel emotion from Dostoyevski or Tchiakovski.
You don't have to be Russian to love these errs. My mother loved ballet and the first music I heard on disc was Tchaikovsky. Yippee for Russian composers.
I grew up with Tchaikovsky, and fell in love with ballet... I really wish ballet was more known and understood among people... But yeah, you don't have to be Russian to love this, just somehow the Russians seem to care more than us about it 😔
Likewise--for me, it was specifically the super simplified melodies from Swan Lake when I was studying piano for the introduction to the distinctions between major keys and minor keys,
I have never heard these works played better. The excitement of Painfully Beautiful Music, Lives! I can't get over it. I never expected to hear great works played like this again... thank you for this.....
Hola... El Arte Ruso...en todos sus aspectos... Pinturas...Letras...Música...Ballet...es magnífico... Es sublime. Queda decir solamente... Gracias... Gracias... Gracias. Saludos desde México.

Adagio,by Miaskovsky
I shamefully admit I didn't know Khrennikov nor Miaskovsky to this day. All these pieces are masterfully executed. Khrennikov's Hussar Ballad moved me to the tears, and Miaskovsky's adagio is simply breath-taking.
I heard Myaskovsky's Symphony No 19 many years ago at a Prom Concert. On the way out I heard someone say, "why do we have to listen to that rubbish when we have so many fifth rate composers of our own?"
Svetlanov (the conductor you've heard here) was great rescater of the Russian Heritage. There are so many rare gems in there: Liapunov, Arensky, Medtner, Konius, some works of Scryabin, Tanieyev, Glazunov... So many!
I don't want to be part of any propaganda on any side, but Russian people are doing marvelous music that makes me dream. The music even sound the suffering when my thought goes to the movie Doctor Zhivago.

First love at first listen was Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake theme (the oboe solo had me in tears). From then on, it was a whole world of expansion from how large my music playlist was from how I played my instrument. I think it was the Slavic soul in me that made me love Tchaikovsky's music so much haha.
All of it is really wonderful music, but i'm particularly charmed by the warm and peaceful adagio of Myaskovski's 27th symphony. It's so beautiful and peaceful that i want to hear it over and over again.
