I definitely know what Dan means about confusing dreams with reality. You don’t actually fall asleep, but you’re getting there, and you wake yourself up just before you actually fall asleep, but for a few seconds, you imagined something that wasn’t really there. Yeah... happens all the time in first period math class...
One day I woke up for school but I daydreamed that I checked my watch and thought I had another half hour of rest time but I realized “I didn’t actually check my watch did I” and thank gif I did because my watch ACTUALLY said I was a few minutes behind
I just completely mistake some dreams as reality. I "wake up" in the dream, do something or something happens and I "fall back to sleep" then wake up for real and assume that shit actually happened and when I talk about it, my family look at me like, "the fuck are you on about?"
Honestly, for me that frequently is just how my memory works. Sometimes my dreams are almost indistinguishable from reality, and also my memory tends to be pretty bad unless something happens to make my brain file it in the "this is important" category. So I'll have occasions where I can't tell if entire conversations or trips to the store actually happened, or if they were just vague impressions from a really realistic and mundane dream. I even remember that when I was little, I saw a really big bionicle set at Walmart and brought it up to my parents about how cool it was and how much I wanted it. And that was the only time I actually saw it on the shelf at Walmart, so I literally forgot the toy existed, and thought that I had dreamed about that bionicle set, until I got that exact toy for christmas, and the shock I felt was less of getting what I wanted, but realizing that I actually did tell my parents about it and it wasn't just a dream. Fucking adhd man, it really can mess with your mind with how it changes your processing and memory recall.

I’m watching this after an anxiety attack and I finally felt calm and I got sleepy. When the pandemic was first announced, I stayed up ever since, from 1 to 6AM in the morning. My parents told me to get some rest but I didn't listen. Now I'm a struggling insomniac who always sleeps at 12 in the afternoon till 8 at night. :)(
