I was 22 in 1997 and loved the 90s,used to watch tfi Friday then turn to BBC 2 for shooting stars and then out the house to meet friends at the local pub before hitting the clubs, great years the 90s
Except in the 60s they produced a new generation, whereas in the 90s they all used condoms or did it up the @rse or swallowed it, and the few that did breed spawned the abomination Gen Z
Friday nights have never been the same since TFI Friday ended, it was such a cultural experience, I remember as teenager watching it every week without fail, what a start to the weekend, such an amazing time to be alive.
I so miss the 90s. As much as I enjoy technology and everything now, having the freedom and much less political correctness like you do now was so refreshing. If I could relive the whole 90s as a child, I would totally do it all again.
I worked in Soho around tge corner from Virgin Radio and bumped into Chris Evans and his crew often. I was 25 in 1997. Those years were actually amazing. I knew they were going to be remembered as the new 1960s. I didn't have much money. Struggled finding a partner. But damn, it was fun.
Lucky enough to have seen one filmed live. It was all broadcast live. Sleeper and Black Grape were 2 of the bands. Had tickets for the green room after party but didn't go. One of the biggest regrests of my life 😢
Early Friday evening, getting ready to hit town. This with TOTP was the perfect thing to get you in mood. And if you missed it, usually meant you was sat with a takeaway eating in and watching it on the late-night showing. Part of the Britpop culture of the 90s
@@A-small-amount-of-peas No, we miss the 90's... I'm only 44 and still do all the things I did when I was in my teens... I now just have to get up for work instead of school or Uni... ;-)
Evans was ahead of his time and maybe a genius - the format and even the set where he interviews guests is like a youtube livestream. Looking back it's like he really saw the future.
This show was amazing! My house mates and I used to watch this at uni whilst getting ready to go to the uni bar. Tv is so boring now and this would never be braodcast today. This show is crazy. Chris Evans is sooo funny! I miss this show so much. The 90's were amazing!
I loved this show. Every Friday after a shit week in the chicken factory I would watch this show and get pissed. It was like the precursor to the podcast as far as interviews went, it was the first time I realized Barry Manilow was a human being.
So you’d spend Monday to Friday presiding over a conveyor belt of death and then watch TFI Friday before going and consuming vast quantities of alcohol. This might be the single most depressing thing I’ve ever read.
Man, I come across these last week. Amazes me how this country went from being so proud of being British no matter were we all originated from. White black whatever, we all bought into being British. Amazing how racial divisivness and politics has been imported from the States and the level of self loathing. I feel so lucky to have grown up through the 80s and 90s. I'm sexond generation Irish btw the way and most of my pals where west Indian with a few sprinkling of randoms. Reason I put that out there is people outside London seem to have a very different view and project on to me that somehow London was devided when they didn't even grow up here. Best times tbh, not perfect but banter was great, everyone started wanting to be offended and offended on behalf of someone. Toxic, take me back 20 30 years. Yes just 20 years ago this country looked and felt very different and was not ashamed to be proud. Now we are told to be proud of having no identity. Now uk are affectively EVERYTHING & NOTHING at the same time.
We started our ten year stint in London in 1996. This show just brings back such good memories of a very happy time. I loved London in those days. Fun fun fun
Loved this show. Was about 17-19 at the time. Would talk about this on Mondays during a levels. It seems so chaotic but was incredibly well organised. Those in attendance - the crowd, the bands, the guests really all bought into it and didn't take themselves too seriously. We might all miss this but we lived this era once. Once is better than never. Current youngsters will never enjoy a show like this - kind of breaks my heart
Love this to come back but it would be nowhere near as good as it was. We were spoilt but didn’t realise at the time, thank you Chris Evans and the team.
Get home from work on a Friday, shower, make something to eat and then watch this classic before I hit the town to cause mayhem and hopefully pull.......great times!! 😎
Anna Friel's dad- Des Friel! when i started my teacher training, in rochdale, he was a teacher in the school i was sent to, and he is about as top a bloke as you could the to meet. we used to go down the pub at lunchtime and he'd tell me all about the job- a really lovely man
Yeah back when things were normal before the sinister woke/radical feminist indoctrination and propaganda began while flooding western countries with lots of diverse people for some much needed enrichment
Thankfully we KNEW and LIVED in a time when things were still *normal* its the younger generations I feel sorry for who are being raised in this clown society and they DON'T know any better and accept all the insanity as normal .
I loved this programme, watching this bought back a lot of brilliant Friday night memories! I would say they should bring it back, but given the state of British music these days, it would be a poor relation to the original. Sorry to sound like a grump! Thanks for posting!
Get in from work, crack a beer, watching TFI getting ready to go out...britpop etc...what epic times..39 now and miss those days...today's sensitive souls would never allow this show now! Imagine the uproar to ugly bloke or freak or unique hahah
You're in your 40's and never thought it would come to this, sitting in front of your computer wishing you didn't ache as much and kidding yourself that life was better when TFI Friday was on. Well guess what, it was, but it's never coming back, so take your supplements go play golf and look forward to working until you're 85. :)
This show was great back in the day. Loved watching the different bands that performed and the segments like the wooden bird with purple hair, it's your letters and I remember the model who would stand in the doorway 🤣
The 90's really did make the 60's look like 20's. I'm glad I was born early enough to spend my teenage years enjoying it! Chris Evans seems to be universally hated these days, but he was a big deal back in the day. I suppose that must sting a bit for him...
@@michaeldallaway1988 I personally don't mind him at all, he's always been a funny guy. The Top Gear situation came as a surprise. He seemed to be the one with a chance to save it, alas not...
What a laugh rather than the scared over PC popular entertainment has become. C4 was edgy and cool as a teenager. Not forced and scared of upsetting people who are easily offended. Good natured fun.
I work and live next door to where this was filmed in Hammersmith. Absolutely loved this show in the 90s, essential Friday night viewing before meeting mates down the boozer (which is now flats).
What in the hell happened to the music in 2021 - it was so much better before - must have been hemorrhaging all these years and now it’s full on catatonic
Loved this show. Always used to watch it with my wife...still my wife! The 90s were fatastic...then Blair appeared...and tech started to rule. The last truly great decade. All gone to sh1t now.
