In this video, we take a look at some best of the best Long Sword builds that I personally like to use in MHW Iceborne. Remember that stats are stated while your character is idle with no active items or food buffs. While some jewel buff will be in effect like maximum might, the video should give you a sense of the type of build I'm going for.

Nice video! Using the barbs alpha in the first set you could have another empty lvl 3 slot for protected polish, geologist 1, one level of peak and so on. Simply swap an agitator+ for shaver, the tenderizer for an eye and equip the barbs with fort./attack, shaver and a lvl1-3 deco of you choice

Yes, it is. Here are some relatively obvious things you can do, if you're struggeling to get evil eyes: Start with the canon-cheese. Once it falls, tenderize once, get to spirit lvl 1 and yeet it into a wall. If you then foresight the roar and farcaster to switch to your actual set, you'll have it's head tenderized and can get to spirit level 3 really quickly. Bring farcasters and make an Heavy Artillery-set. When Phase 2 starts, use the farcaster to equip that set. Put on temporal, tenderize the head and shoot it with the roaming ballista. Repeat at the start of phase 3, then farcaster again to use your set for fighting. You can also do it immediately. Only use binders when Fatalis' head is tenderized and when it is enraged. Don't just spam your attacks here, make sure the important ones land. Baiting cones isn't that easy, but you should probably try to whenever you're healing/rebuffing anyway. Use partbreak 3, obviously. You don't have to kill Fatalis to get your evil eye. If you can usually kill it, you should be able to get an evil eye pretty easily using partbreaker 3 even without necessarily killing it by really focusing the head instead of just attacking any weak body part. Use regular ballista in phase 3 during the big fire breaths, depending on where Fatalis is. If it's above the molten steel door, you can hit it with the Ballista on it's left. Don't accidentally waste your binders tho. Watch some speedruns. Some of the openings and punishes you see there are hard to pull off, others aren't. With how high Fatalis' damage output is, it can be really punishing to experiment with timings for people who are still working on getting kills. Gaijin Hunter always preaches this, but just do a hunt in which you focus on dodging and learning openings and how to punish them. Especially when playing LS, there are a few moves you can counter quite effectively with foresight. Playing solo should also help with distributing enough of your damage towards the head. I don't really know how people play online though, I've only ever played solo.

if you take attack charm 5 instead of exploiter charm, you can fit full tool specialist or any other 3 level skill into the frostcraft build! that's ofcourse dependent on what combinations of tenderizer and crit boost jewels you have available. I swapped rocksteady for impact mantle and put slugger and brace on it lets see how it goes!!

I know this is an old vid but an easy tanky/mega elem build is 4 pieces alteron and 1 of any other armor piece and then build just a bunch of elem resistance and whatever elem your going to use. I use this build with a altreon ls and I have 1050 elem with over 35 elem defense to all stats and 1050 defense points

One thing i love about this game and his builds is nothing is set in stone. Missing that 3rd attack 4 deco? Change the waist to the alpha and change decos around a tad.

im thinking about making the raw fatty ls build but instead of 5 evade window i put 3 free meal, and take 1 critical boost to put 3 mushroomancer aswell because mandragora is free max but free meal allows you to eat more than just 10

Sorry for the noob question, but how do you drop evasion for handicraft? The evasion comes from the Mighty/Evasion deco, and there is no Mighty/Handicraft deco right?

i think throttle decos can replace maximum might, i think when you take a certain amount of damage or a certain amount of time has passed in the quest you get permanent affinity for that quest. May you please reply and tell me which you think is better

I use the escadora armguards alpha with my raw damage longsword build cause it gives me some attack boost to go with my 2 attack 4's lol plus power prolonger is amazing on the longsword as well

Maximum might is so unnecessary if you put affinity augment on thw longsword, you can instead put a couple other skills that will be useful

Is attack augment better on the Fatalis sword than the affinity augment? The affinity augment gives a substantial 10% to affinity at level 1. Then with the extra point (affinity augment only needs 2) you could throw it into some extra dragon damage.

@Sammiboo97 I'm a little late but gonna answer for others that still want to know, he runs maximum might at 5, giving 50% affinity i think, so thats why he used attack augment. In my opinion is not worth what he did, better affinity augment since max might is situational, need to not use stamina to get the affinity buff, but counters use stamina, rolls use it too, in normal and sweaty gameplay max might is decent but never to replace aff augment of fatty weapons, the buff from max might comes back after around 3-4 seconds usually but u'll eventually counter or dodge and will have to wait seconds again to have full stamina and buff back

As much as it's helpful, everyone should have their own personal build. For example: I can't live without Stun Resistance, there's always at least once where I mess up and get stunned, so it's a great "stay alive" skill for me. Also, Evade Extender, I find it very helpful for every monster. I will always swap out Attack Boost for survival in my builds. Other honorable mentions are Partbreaker (great for LS), and Constitution (more rolling, Dark Souls mode activated, add Extender & Window and you're dodging everything and anything).

@@Reiaaa I stopped playing about 5 months ago. I just liked Evade Extender, made the game more fun & convenient. I'm not a veteran, but I think I was decent overall thanks to thousands of Dark Souls hours. If you wanna know how it went for me: as a completely solo experience (Longsword Only btw), I think the hardest monsters were Behemoth & Ancient Leshen (these 2 are EASILY the hardest by a COLOSSAL margin with pre-Iceborne gear + solo... I finally did them with Iceborne gear, but I STILL struggled).

hey man, in 0:55 you charged your LS while on iaito stance, how did you do that? I tried it so far with my nargacuga LS and so far nothing has happened. Is it only visuals for the fatalis LS?

that is just the frostcraft from the velhana recoving since it charges back once the weapon is sheathed you will need 4 pieces from any velkhana set

lol This is true I stopped playing the game when I had over 1.7k hours on World and Iceborne, and not a single attack level 4 gem dropped (Except for the free Lvl 4 gem they gave out a long time ago) from any of my Grinding sessions, but I had real fun with the game even then I didn’t regret not a single hour of how much time I put into it.

You’d have to acquire the “+” (master rank) versions of mantles you have. For example the Temporal mantle upgrades from “Temporal Mantle” to “Temporal Mantle +” from a optional quest on master rank once you reach level 150. The plus versions give you decorations slots. You don’t unlock them the decoration slots by ranking up.

Yeah, cool to create builds when you’ve finished fatalis and the others 😅 But what’s your advice to those, who can’t beat even safijiva and to those, who still can’t get modifications on weapons such as healing and attack increase cause they don’t drop

Just join with parties that have the relevant guiding lands region upgraded to 7, and ask them if they can hunt your monster. Most of the time they oblige. You just need to get one material from each tempered guiding lands monster. After that you can just trade for it at the Melder

for deco's you should run the MR event quest days of ruin. you will fight a tempered teostra, this can drop 3 or more sealed feystones. these are the rarity 12 feystones. as for progressing the game to fatalis i found it best to practice ATvelkhana in the event quest where the winter sleeps this will let you craft the rimeguard gamma armor the skills on this thing is very very good, this will then help you alot in the fatalis fight, just be prrpared coz the AT velkhana is really hard but the moves are learnable. use ice proof mantle so you dont get 1 shot

Wait hold up is MaxMight really necessary? Cause Crit Eye 7 + Atk Boost 4=25 with an Affinity augment + 20 from Agi is 45 total which isn't so bad if you slap Peak Perf on your build for a massive raw boost AND allows for 1-2 points of Handicraft

I think someone did the math and it turns out you're better off scrapping Attack Boost in end-game. It's still good if you're a god-level speedrunner though, but if you're not you're better off getting something else.

@@Kaiji... wouldn't that math be wrong considering speedrunners use Atk boost instead of other skills? I'm no speedrunner but MaxMight is all or nothing meanwhile Atk boost is 4 or more

I've been farming the zinogre thunders wrath event quest and im using a raw build was considering trying ice element and see if its a faster kill but can't find anyone who says if elemental builds are worth it zinogre is 3 star weak to ice might just try it out with 9:27 but ice

Zinogre is only weak to elements when he’s shining (charged up). You usually want to keep him out of shiny mode so raw might be the best.

I thought that too the first time I went in there. If you are able to kill fatalis I started crushing him easily with a Hammer build just jumping off the small ledge and doing overhead smashes. Many mounts and flinch shots. Max out tool specialist and divine blessing and itll be hard to die if you have any sort of knowledge of his move set

There's 2 quests, you can do to grind decos, one is a Jagras and the other one is a lavasioth, I don't remember now, but I'll edit once I figure it out again.

Fatalis armor set bonus with 4 pieces gives +100 health and stamina at beginning of fight, and when you die. Resulting in you not having to run vitality jewels.

If you start from the bottom and wanna go for that build right now with every exact Jewel it heavily depends on your RNG, but you should forget about it if you aren’t ready for at least 100-200h of grinding.

Good builds! But here is some friendly advise. One thing I don’t like about people showcasing their builds is how messy their deco inputs are in their armors! Like Sometimes is hard to follow the build when their decos are all over the place. For the first build, why does he have attack jewels on the feet and claws! Why can’t you just put all attack jewels in one armor piece! It’s just annoying. Builds are suppose to be presented smooth and clean so people can follow them!! Trust me a lot of people do these kind of sloppy things.
