Tesla's are really only good off the line. The reason being when they put the hammer down, they have 100% of their horsepower RIGHT NOW. Last summer my next-door neighbor followed me onto the freeway with his (not a Plaid) Tesla, me driving my old 1999 Corvette and egged me into a race. We raced from 50 MPH to 100 and I blew his doors off.... by about 30". He was shocked. Made my day. 1

I worked for Honda R&D road testing prototype vehicles before they went on the market and that little 1300lb insight with the factory 80hp 3 cylinder engine (this was over 20 years ago so memory may be off but) gave 160km/hr coming out of 3rd gear... imagine with some tuning it could go!

And here i get nervous about getting a ticket when goin over 70mph. Oh and I'll dust ANYONE of those go-carts those kids were racing 🏎️ LOL

On the GTR vs Plaid, the GTR was, what, 900hp? EVs always lose their vaunted acceleration into the high end, its why I keep saying, they ought to change that gear reducer to a 2 or 3 speed gearbox, there is literally no losses beyond slightly higher weight and maybe the extra drag of 2 more bearings per shaft, and the EV would end up faster to accelerate with a low-speed gear, and with a higher top speed with a high-speed gear. All electric motors have a flat torque curve, but after a point it just falls drastically as the poles can no longer overcome their inductance fast enough, like an engine revving too high and experiencing valve float. Really, its exactly the electrical version of valve float, but the only solution to the problem is to lower the inductance of the windings and increase its conductance, make the poles able to set up the magnetic field faster and invert it faster. But that enters the realm of replacing the copper with what could be considered a superconductor, even the Plaid motor uses copper windings because we don't have anything better than copper for motor windings that isn't ludicrously expensive. Gold would be better, but its low melting point and very soft hardness makes it a very poor choice, you could just melt your windings without proper cooling, and the motor would cost perhaps a hundred thousand dollars in gold just for a single Tesla Plaid. Silver is actually even more superior, but again it would cost a ludicrous amount in raw materials costs and be harder to manufacture. Its why a Tesla P90 motor (not the P90D, just the P90) costs about 5200 bucks, used, for the motor alone without any connections or even the thick copper cables, so double that to get it in a plug-in working condition. A running condition Corvette motor and transmission that can be plugged into a vehicle that had an LS already costs 5 grand, with maybe 100 bucks more for the fluids, in fact the P90 motor I looked at needed gear reducer fluid too, so add maybe 50 bucks to its total. At some point, the P90 motor is worth far more in copper scrap than it is as a motor, the value in an old LS that is no longer in running condition is far less since its got far less in the way of valuable materials and rare-earth metals like the P90 motor's neodymium. Admittedly, Tesla is trying to move away from neodymium, but they have yet to do so afaik, so its a moot point.

On the track is where skills come into play but allot of the highway stuff vs. exotic cars the drivers don't go all out. I drive some fancy stuff and rarely floor it on the street there is just too much that can go wrong. Even if the other guy crashes if someone gets hurt then both racers go to jail.

Been is the racing world a long time. Nothing surprises me any more when it comes to modded cars, I have seen it all LOL.

Many of these races are dependent on the kind of race rather than the capability of the car. For instance, drag racer vs autocrosser. Who wins? Depends entirely on if they're at the drag strip or in the parking lot.
