Alright, so you guys are like a bunch of drug dealers, you gave us a taste of the goods and now we want more of the product! Awesome podcast as always, would love to have more on these subjects, maybe some in field demonstrations and product reviews. Glad to hear that you are adding NF to the GOHUNT shop.
I’m like Brady. 27 alarms every morning to get me to work. It’s a total grind. I had the fire going in the wall tent at 3:50am for 8 days on elk hunt in November. I can go to bed at midnight and get up at 2 am to hit the mountains or anything else I want to do. The other 300 days a year are a real push to stay motivated.
I’m also the same way I have three different alarm clocks including my phone. So about 15 different times I got shit going. Those old Bose nightstand radios work great. It’s not a grind for me tho as long as I get at least 6 hours. I shoot for 7 so typically I try to go to bed at 12-1 and get up 7-715.
Cody helped me out this year with my setup. He made me question my original choice on which glassing system to purchase and I went a totally different route after our conversation. Very happy I reached out to Cody. Thanks GoHunt/GlassGuru
I am the same way as Brady. Always have been and I also am a single parent. It drives my brother nuts cuz he can’t figure out how I do it. I’m always up and ready early when I need to be but I’ll still stay up till midnight that night lol. The nighttime is my time to get shit done
Cody, what's your thoughts on the Kowa 554 vs the Swaro STC? I currently run a Vortex Razor 11-33x50 and want to step up to top of the line in the next year or 2. I've got terrible eyesight in my left eye so I use my spotter to both "glass" and zoom in once I find something.
Question for Cody. For a guy on a budget for a spotting scope. Never owned one. Would I be wasting money purchasing the Leupold SX-2 Alpine HD 20-60x80mm Angled Spotting Scope? I know it's not high end but it what I could afford. Thanks guys love the podcast
If you are on a fixed budget you will generally have a better image with lower magnification. Check out a 65mm spotting scope. I also have found you get better glass for your $ with athlon vs vortex or leupold in the lower/mid price tier.
Hi Andy, Cody here, I don't believe that it's a waste of money at all! That is a great spotter for the money period. I would also make sure that you are using your binoculars mounted from a tripod as well. Use the binos, in comfort, with both eyes open mounted on a tripod and when you see some see something of interest or needs a closer look switch to the spotter. That is a very efficient use of that combination. You will find a lot of game this way!
The conversation about points, tags and planning….you guys have no idea how much that actually matter until you’re in your 50’s. I’m using insider to plan for the future with hunts I can draw on the span of hunting time I still have left. So much so, that guys in my age class need to be made aware of the product and process. To Iinclude getting points for kids and and grandkids so we can do some of those hunts before I can’t anymore. It’s a big deal if this is your thing.
awesome awesome podcast Cody every 1 of the podcasts you are on i have taken what you have said and started using it in my glassing and tripod adjustments thank you for all your wisdom
Thank you Kurt, We are glad you enjoy the information we are putting out there! If you have any questions or would like us to discuss something please feel free to reach out 👊
Hey Alex. I did some blood work for my Tajikistan hunt last year and they never mentioned that. They did say that my levels are like a high level athlete and asked what my diet was to get me there and my workouts. I mentioned wild game, mountains and gym time and they told me to keep it up. But I just had to look that up. Could definitely be a possibility. Greatly appreciate the information and I'll discuss that next time I see someone.
