You Can’t Take It with You is one of my favourites… All the actors are good, from Lionel Barrymore to H. B. Warner : Donald Meek, Edward Arnold, Samuel Hinds, Halliwell Hobbs and unspeakable Misha Auer who comes from « Omsk » 😂 It’s a pity that people stick to three or four movies concerning Frank Capra, I also care a lot about Lost Horizon, Mr Deeds Goes to Washington, Arsenic and Old Lace, Lady for a Day and its remake, Pocket Full of Miracles where Bette Davis is astonishing, and even The Bitter Tea of General Yen… Greetings from France 🇫🇷
Bonjour! I forgot to mention Lost Horizon. I love that one (and the book it is based on!) Also nice to see The Bitter Tea of General Yen get some love. That one is often sadly overlooked. I need to see it again myself. Glad to see someone who appreciates the classics from Capra!
There are definitely some that weren't the best choice or haven't aged particularly well. But it's neat to see what audiences of the 30s loved and gravitated towards.
