San Diego, California - I've been wanting to make this "Best Pizza in San Diego" episode for a long time. As a New York native, I was worried when I first moved to San Diego that there wasn't going to be any good pizza. I was wrong.
There are so many incredible pizza places here in San Diego, and this episode is just an example of how many good spots there are in the city. To prove it, I even made a map of all the pizza places people suggested that I visit while making this San Diego food vlog!

I was born in San Diego in 1980 and lived in Kensington. when it comes to the best there is none other than Venice Pizza House on El Cajon Blvd. Since 1954. It makes me sad its not on your list. I recommend "The Works" or the #12 as it used to be referred to. I now live in Murrieta, CA and I will not hesitate to drive the 70 miles to get that pizza.

Having lived in San Diego since 1993 I can say you definitely hit some of the best spot. Bronx Pizza was my home for years because I lived a block away. Two spots I also love are Mr. Motos and Isola in Little Italy. Great video.

You guys mentioned Luigi in the beginning but why didn't you actually go to Luigi's Pizzeria???🤷‍♀️ Their pizza is HANDS DOWN the best pizza in San Diego. You guys missed out. And the girl behind the counter at lunch is hilarious! Always dancing and singing as she hands us our pizza:) We have a great time and their style is unique as well, woulda been a great addition to your list:)

Ahhh I used to love this one! I used to go there when the original creator and owner was there, before he passed. Their pizza was my favorite in SD when I lived there. Almost suggested it but wasn’t sure if it was as good anymore. They used to add real fresh grated big chunks of Parmesan on top and that was incredible. :P

urbn pizza is good, but I boycotted them because they were charging more for pitchers than an equal amount of beer if purchased through pints. They used to have a special and one day me and my bud discovered that we were getting shorted on the beer. I told the manager and she told me to go home and that I was obviously belligerent. Well jokes on you cuz Im a 1 pizza minum aweek kinda guy and we dont shop wit no beer cheating doe tossing punks.

The problem I found in San Diego is no consistency in the pizzas. One is the pizza can be great for a little while then next can be not so great. Like when new owners take over and they try to maximize profits by skimping on ingredients while charging more for the pizza. It's like a hit or miss game.

I think the show's format with the music choice + b-roll combo is unmatched. I'm tired of the ubiquitous license free hip hop/trap beats in all the other videos on RU-vid these days. good pacing, lo-fi/jazzy beat in the background behind the dialogue is *chefs kiss*. I grew up eating the white pizza @ the Bronx Pizza. Then got a roommate who worked at Leftys so grew to love that too but that Detroit pizza looks delicious.

CT native that just visited San Diego. So happy to see the New Haven style bar pizza represented. The hot honey pizza (locally usually called the Hot Lips or the Stinger depending where you go) is a favorite for sure. And potato pizza, for whatever reason, is really popular too. Great looking pies all around!

I've been to Square Pizza many times when I visit San Diego. Best pizza ever! Fred's pizza are just amazing! I was drooling when they brought out that Detroit. I need another trip back to P.B. soon to get my fix!! They also have Brazilian cheese bread that melts in your mouth. Holy hell - this video was great. It's making me so hungry now! 🙂

I’ve tried the 4 out of the 5. Buona Forchetta is by far my favorite. That’s if you’re into authentic Italian style pizza. Basic pizza is okay IMO. I haven’t been to square pizza but that’s because I tend to stay away from PB. 😂

Ya but at least he honored it by driving 2 hrs just to deliver it to my restaurant. We thanked Wolfie for feeding many people, then we barbequed it and served 24 patrons. German shepherds pie.

If you're trying pizza in SD, you have to try moms pizza and pasta in Sorrento valley. Full disclaimer, I work there, but we do have excellent pizza. In the top 3 best category 2 years running. We've only been open for 1.5 years

I’ll never understand the hype of Bronx. I try every few years and never impressed. It’s no better than 7-11 or Little Caesar’s. I’ll stick to Lefty’s (although going downhill), Luigi’s, Gnarly Girl, Filippi’s, Whispering Tree, Bullpen, Pizzo’s, Woodstock’s, Hoboken, Sandbox, Mom & Dom’s (closed 😢), etc.

I sorely miss TK's Pizza- I grew up in Fairport until I moved here in the mid 80s after high school. How can we convince Nick to open a location here? Heck - even a TK's pizza truck would kill it here! Yes, you can find good pizza in San Diego...but nothing like TK's - a great, simple, everyday pizza.

Mona Lisa in Allied Gardens. 4th generation SD Native, been to em all. The only thing that makes me slightly regret leaving, it sure isn't the people, or traffic, or crooked cops and courts! Not many even come close to Mona Lisa. same recipe, Im a pepperoni fan. and same quality over 55 years that I know of, my dad turned me on to them in 1968 when I was 8 Their Italian subs are unbelievable too

Bronx Pizza, URB Pizza, and Lefty's looked BOMB. Not a big fan of Neopolitan style pizza. I know. I know. It's the closest thing to "real" pizza, but I'm more of an American pizza connoisseur. Both pies from URB looked so delicious. Will definitely hit 'em up next time I'm in Daygo. Thanks again, G.

I'd pick Bronx Pizza as my, 'I need a real NY slice', it looks spot on. I'd love an Italian beef from Lefty's, (Chicago has fantastic thin crust/square cut, super yummy). That bacon potato looked to die for, the pesto punch as well. When you described Squares, I can imagine that pillowy lightness vesseling those tomatoes and cheese and basil... If you're ever up north, Golden Boy delivers that amazing pillowy goodness with each bite a flavor bomb, clams and garlic. It's perfect. I love yummy food and I love pizza, right next to classic deli heros/hoagies/subs, whatever you like to call them. A great slice, Bronx Pizza for this show, can sit right next to a great sandwich with no problems whatsoever. They're best friends for life. 🤗👍🤌🌻

Square Pizza is amazing!!! Definitely Detroit style. These guys are spot on - it looks like it's a very heavy Chicago deep dish but it's really light. Love that place!

As an SD resident, Bronx, Square, and Regents Pizza are the best pizza places in my humble opinion. Bronx is classic, damn good pizza. Square is rich and cravable. Regents is high quality across the board and my favorite of all. If you live in SD please support them and try them all soon!

Went today to Urbn in North Park to try the potato and bacon pizza after watching this video. Got the small, and it’s not round, but rectangle and the whole thing was about 1mm thick. NO mashed potato on it whatsoever! If it’s on there it’s aless than paper thin smear. Just tasted like deep fried oily bread and the crust is hard and hard to chew. Not pleasant. Sad.

Lefty’s was so gross when I last tried it I didn’t even finish my slice-maybe they’re just inconsistent? Im guessing there’s a reason you guys spent the least amount of time on them. It’s like eating a brick of mozzarella, or the slice wasn’t cooked through enough. Hopefully the north park site is better. Bronx is always good and so is urbn.

Mom's Pizza Sorrento Valley had a focaccia-like crust that's to die for. Pauly's Pizza Joint for NY style (get their Christmas Pie) and BLAH (Blind Lady Ale House) for the greatest small artisan pizzas.

Grew up in New York and assumed everyone had good pizza. Moved to San Diego and greatly disappointed. Not sure what the big deal is. Only exception was on a dirt road in Tecate, Baja California Mexico. New york style Sicilian pizza with pepporoni and chorizo. Off the charts. 🍕

Gareth ~That pizza is NOT that good ~ NY pizza and it kinda dirty in there and looks cheap ~ give I t a 5.1, Buona Forchetta much better ' n Authentic give it a 7.2. The Chicago Pizzeria much better ~ Lefties give it a 8.3😁😋😈!

Looks good but those are way too gourmet for pizza. Try Lidos Italian Food restaurant in Lemon Grove been there for 60 yrs. Great pizza and pasta.

OMG!!!! I just got in from work and early this morning I left my lunch in my fridge and just had chips to eat at work… I want all of those pizza’s they all look SOoooo Good. I know I can’t get any of those here where I live… So I found some Gino’s Pizza Rolls in my freezer and ate them while I watched this…. Depressing Truth… I’d Love to try the Hot Honey everyone is bragging about… 👊🏼💯💙

I have been trying to find the best DEEP dish pizza in San Diego for a long long time. I had found it in Berkeley's pizza, but covid took it away. Lefty's is OK, but not as good as Berkely's was. They need to put diced crushed tomatoes on their pizzas and make them thicker.
