We just rode in Moab, Utah for a week and it was the first time in a few since anyone had been out on a regular mtb with tiny 2.5 inch tires🤭😂 Fat bikes are just so fun to ride😎
How difficult was it to resist the temptation to ride your fat bikes on those great sand dunes you were looking at for the whole ride? Any rangers around to catch you? People can ski or sand board on those but no fat bikes?!?!?!? Are there any efforts to persuade the National Park Service to allow fat bikes on the dunes? Great video! Gonna subscribe now
Only saw one park ranger and he was out looking for a stuck vehicle... we helped get the person out he was looking for earlier by bouncing on his back bumper😂 We actually spent day 1 exploring the dunes by foot and it’s a workout. If there were free helicopter rides to the top it would be fun!!😎 otherwise they are literally mountains of sand high! GoPro cameras make everything look small. We’re going back soon to ride the same trail and surf the dunes too!
For this adventure we were both running Maxxis FBF/FBR @ 4.8 inches wide on 26 inch Sunringle Mulefut 80 wheels. Since this trail is basically all loose sand, the suspension fork was fully locked out on the red bike. We ended up with about 8-10 lbs in back tires and about 6 in the front tire. It’s more of a squeeze pressure check as no regular bike pumps register below about 10psi😂. There are small rocks here and there so don’t go lower than that. Plus the rolling resistance gets unbearable when we we to tow at first. We like the 26 inch wheel size the best because you can fit the fattest tires. The fatter the better for sand and snow! The temperature was great this time of year at the sand dunes. We walked around on the dunes for day 1 of our adventure and the sand was not hot! October 20-21, 2020.
