Some of the best places to live in Charleston are some of the older areas. They offer convenience, easy access and friendly people.
This is a link to the Charleston Tour Playlist:

There are so many "Best Places to Live in Charleston", so If you are considering a purchase, and trying to decide on which area of town, I would suggest spending some time talking to the people. They are really what make up a good community.
Some easy ways to do this are to head to a Starbucks, spend the morning... People like to help other people. You can also join some facebook pages and connect with someone that way.
I am of course biased with the Northbridge area in West Ashley. It is where I live... but being in real estate, I get to meet with and talk to people from all walks of life. It seems that most people feel like their community is the best place to live, which I think speaks more closely to the people that are in Charleston as a whole.
It's a good place.
Property videos are boring. People want to know more about where they will spend their days.. This is why I will be expanding this series.
It's is a good way to help people get familiar, and also showcase my client's homes for sale. If you are selling and love your community, let's talk. Your home does not have to be on video, but if it makes sense, and if it is an area we have not already covered, then I'm game!
Thanks for tuning in and I look forward to chatting with you in the comments!

As a Charleston Expat (CofC Class of 91) I lived there for thirty years and miss it terribly. Love the channel simply for my long distance Low Country fix.

Very nice job, Nat! Your voice tone was very pleasing, and you presented the kind of features that new arrivals/homeowners are looking for. We all love the classic historical homes, but most are way beyond most budgets. You highlighted the convenience, as I was not that familiar with either neigh or hood you featured, but have been in the area on drives around town (e.g., to Charles Town Landing). I so love Charleston, so just being in the area is a plus, and I can understand most people not wanting to leave. The featured home looked wonderful, and had some features of my home on Mercer Island, WA and about the same 2200sf, but not quite all the upgrades - and while close to Seattle, had no delightful Charleston climate and sunshine. Thanks for sharing and giving good I formation without being real "salesy". I realize this video was done 17 months ago, and the real estate market has really heated up, but what approximate price range is a house like this in?
@NatWallen-Realtor-Charleston
@NatWallen-Realtor-Charleston 3 года назад
Hi Jim, thanks for your nice feedback. You are correct, the market is certainly heated up. I just sold three in the neighborhood in the past two months. One was a fixer-upper that sold for 450, another was fixed up that sold for 550 and another was in need of some fixing but had a lot of charm and sold for 542. All of them roughly the same size as the subject property you mentioned. Hopefully the market simmers down a bit because it’s a challenge. I haven’t been to Charleston since Jan 2020.. this was my last trip since the Covid stuff popped off. My fiancé and I love Charleston, and try to make trips as often as possible.

I just moved here from Salt Lake City back in October. I currently rent an apartment right on Sam Rittenberg just down the road for Harris Teeters. I absolutely love living here! I am so happy that I took that leap of faith for a new job and a new city!

Hi, neighbor! Well, not exactly. I lived on Carriage Road but I DID attend church nearby. I was blessed to live temporarily in Charleston for six months and then had to return to Seattle just ahead of the virus and current madness. God willing I'll be back in 2021.

Hi Nat. I’m in the process of getting my home ready for sale in the SF Bay Area. Hope to be sold in early November. Looking for a great 4/2 home in Charleston or Mount Pleasant area, in the upper 400k range with private fenced yard in back. Thanks for these videos. They are very helpful.

I would suggest checking this website at: www.ccsdschools.com/ - it will help paint a picture with reviews, grades, certain schools, their locations etc. - Reach out anytime you need more help!

How difficult is it to tear down and rebuild from a cost perspective? Are there communities with water access / docking for your boat?
@NatWallen-Realtor-Charleston
@NatWallen-Realtor-Charleston 3 года назад
Hi Matthew, it’s not too much of a challenge to tear down and rebuild but we haven’t seen that in this particular part of town yet. There are some communities in West Ashley that you can have a boat, but they’re primarily on the other side of the area. The Ashley Riverside for the most part has shallower water and farther expenses of March to actually get to them. I actually live on the river here and it’s a beautiful setting, but the marsh is too far to build a dock and even if I did, there would be little water to enjoy just because of the nature of the Ashley River on this particular side of it. There are other good options to consider if that’s the goal.Feel free to reach out to me via natwallen.com if you want to talk.

Hey Nat! Random question! My husband and I are moving to North Daniel Island to a complex called Sweetwater. Do you know much about the area? Would love input! THANK YOU!

Hey, I am not 100% familiar with the complex. Is it technically on Daniel Island, if so, I am sure you will enjoy it. Daniel Island is amazing! Do you have a street address? If so, I will look at it and give you my two cents

Nat: I’m super worried about the mosquitoes, bugs and alligators due to being on the marsh, not to mention the potential for FLOORDING with the ever increasing sea level rise. What Charleston neighborhood would avoid theses threats? Thank you in advance, Dana

dana, look at Summerville -
@evz1244
@evz1244 2 года назад
SureLess potential for flooding in Summerville. As far as mosquitos, bugs and alligators? That’s everywhere around here. I’ve seen just as many bugs and alligators when I lived in Summerville as here on the coast, maybe even more. Either you accept and live with it or the lowcountry isn’t for you.

Forgot to say im from California and am used to all kinds of diverse people from diverse backgrounds... my baby has friends whose families are from Mexico to Asia to the Middle East, Europe, Africa, the Philippines & more... and they teach French Spanish Tagalog & more languages in his classroom... so perhaps SC came as a bit of a culture shock in a sense. But it is truly a lovely gem we’ll be visiting again.

Not the best. Best place is SC is Greenville. Charleston is over run.
@george5120
@george5120 10 месяцев назад
To each their own. But I spent two nights in Greenville to assess whether I might prefer Greenville over Charleston as my retirement destination. It took me only one hour of driving around downtown Greenville to decide that I disliked Greenville. So, I spent the remainder of my time two days in my hotel room. Because one hour was enough for me to decide that I like Charleston better.
