The title should read, Best Places to Retire in New Jersey if you are Rich.

If you’re rich and retire in NJ, you don’t go to these towns

Lived in Rutherford, NJ. Great place to live. Bus and trains to New York in less than 20 minutes. Taxes are outlandish. One of the few towns that still has blue laws. Retired and moved out of state, I’m so glad I did. So much cheaper to live elsewhere! Oh, it doesn’t bother me to pump my own gas now, 🙃

NJ is actually one of the more safer states. Its small number of cities get watered out in an ocean of suburbs. Higher population intake states (such as retirement fave Florida) often have overall higher crime rates.
@steverogers7601
@steverogers7601 Год назад
Because while the taxes are high, we have way more culture and diversity than any place in America. NJ is the most densely populated state in the country and with that, you get a lot of different cultures, which promotes more diversity, more inclusion, more ethnic foods, more chances of having a good neighbor (racist white folks hate this). NJ is also the second best state for education. So, chances are higher that your child will get a better education and better school experience than anywhere in the country. NJ is also in the top 10 states for job opportunities. NJ provides you with being 30-50 minutes drive from the beaches, the mountains, the suburbs, the cities, and other states.

@MegaGeorge - OVER 9 million of us live here despite being the 4th smallest state when you factor in land mass. Which cornball part of the United States do you live in? And some of you people clearly live in your own thimble-sized brain. Jersey is one of the safest states and consistently battles with Maryland and Connecticut for the top education system in America. Here's some actual crime data for you, Mr. Simpleton: **New Jersey boasts some of the lowest crime rates in the country, New Jersey's crime rate of 195.36 is the fifth-lowest nationwide. This is the second consecutive year that New Jersey was among the states with the lowest violent crime rates in the nation. The Garden State is the fourth-lowest in the nation when it comes to property crime. In the Mid-Atlantic region, New Jersey bested the violent-crime regional average, with the lowest rate ahead of New York (363.8)**

By retire, I guess you mean "go to dye" I am 74. I live in a very urban Newark where we have arts, energy and a future. I founded and run a 501c3 that identifies vacant storefronts, borrows them and turns them into pop up fine art galleries. One the lights are on, the space is advertised a an open and ongoing arts venue, people begin to come. Foot traffic and lights decrease petty crime, drug sales and make spaces possible to rent. One an owner gets a paying tenant, we are gone in 7 days. Why the hell would I go to the semi rural, boring , towns that are devoid of energy or new experiences except to watch my muscles and intellect deteriorate?

Thanks for the comment. What you're doing sounds amazing, would love to hear more about it if you're interested. You know "some like it hot and some like it cold". The focus of the video was on places with the lowest cost of living and home prices which to your point also happen to be the more rural areas (of course with the exception of Atlantic City). So while access to culture and economic activity might be at the top of your retirement criteria, affordability and cost of living might be at the top of someone else's.

I live in Toms River. Unless you’re wealthy and have an amazing house where you can enjoy those neighborhoods it is pretty much a dump. Nothing to do here, no places to eat unless you like fast food. You can drive 7 miles to Seaside Heights but I wouldn’t really call that entertainment. There’s no night life and it’s honestly not a great place to live at all.

Artem. We did exhaustive research. I'm not talking about economics. The cost of living is roughly the same if not slightly less. I'm talking about s state that respects my first and second ammendment rights. A state that respects parent's rights. A state where you are as a taxpayer not a chump for the public employees unions. In short a state that is still governed by adults.

@Vincent Porcelli respect parents' rights, their telling parents what their kids can and cannot say in school. If a child brings up LGTB, the parents get investigated. They remove books from library's, teachers are getting in trouble for talking about Disney movies. Desantis loves freedom as long as it's his freedoms, he's a goddamn wannabe dictator.

Really had to laugh at this attempted departure from reality. People from NY retiring to NJ? Supposedly to still be near the attractions od NYC? First, even if that were the case, which it is not, the traffic alone would discourage retirees from commuting even neighboring communities across the Hudson. Secondly, several communities referenced in this propaganda nonsense are at the south end of NJ. Actually, much closer to Philadelphia, PA. than NYC She references crime trending downward in places like Atlantic City. Not going to debate statistical data: but a DROP from record HIGHS is merely a DROP in the bucket. Not going to waste a lot of time pulling this narrative apart. I will leave the well-earned reputation of crime, corruption, wasteful governance. high taxes, road tolls, arrogant leadership, (think Chris Christy) pollution, etc. to be judged by one's personal consideration. Lastly, I'm going to switch lanes. Yes, New Yorkers, retire to NJ. I will go further. New Jerseyans should stay and retire in NJ. Please don't come down to the Carolinas with your obnoxiously rude behavior and horrible attitude.
@artemiscool67
@artemiscool67 Год назад
actually, NY'ers are indeed migrating away and NJ often is high on that list (CT and FL among a few others). I don't know what your source is, but it's wrong. Where do you think growth inHudson county (particularly Jersey City') has been coming from?

While there are MAGA types in Toms River, Rutherford, and Lyndhurst, the great thing about Jersey is the diversity. You can find many places with a combination of black folks, Filipinos, Koreans, Peruvians, Costa Ricans, Dominicans, Pakistanis, Puerto Ricans, etc. and it just makes the places that much better.
