ah wow boogaloo shrimp is my favourite popper as well! Michael jackson is pops a bit in fact taught a bit by SHrimp but i wouldnt class him as a popper but yh nicely done man enjoyed the vid!
Boogaloo Sam is in his 50's watch some of his videos and the old retro videos from T.V. shows on here from the lates 70's and early 80's with jeffery daniels, Poppin taco, the lockers, king tut there is legends of this style all over.No one new can claim whats already been done but you can make it hotter if your good.
Personally I wouldn't class MJ as a poppers, he did use popping techniques because he was taught by PopNTaco but he was more of an individual with unique dance moves that vary from all styles, even the more theatrical styles such as tap, which he took inspiration from by Fredastair.
i totally agree Lou. MJ was NOT part of the Hip Hop genre, he was TAUGHT alot of these moves by others like the great Mexican popper, PopNtaco, Michael Chambers.... even his "signature move" the moon walk wasn't his invention. somehow the media attributed MJ to this genre but they shouldn't. MJ was a great singer & had his own style of dancing(which i personally didn't care for).... but fact is, break dancing gave him a big boost & added fuel to his aura.
The best poppers are the original West coast poppers if it wasnt for them!!!! these cats today wouldnt be much! boogaloo Shrimp is one of them along with all the Eletric Boogaloos and everyone from Northen California down too Southern California.I see all these youtube dancers and america got talent etc. and they will tell you they were inspired by the Legends!!!! Bottomline Thats all they had back in the day a garage, funk music and a fat boom box lol I know I was one of those kids lol.
Man I thought b shrimp was one the best ever, until I saw him in person. He was a very good popper. But you can't call him the best and Michael wasn't even close. Jr. Booglo, come on!!!!!
What about Taco (MJ's teacher),Wigz,Salah,Kite,Bruce,Frantick,Kei,Greenteck,Hugo,John and Deydey? No doubt Mike's awesome at what he did (The Robot on Soul Train and the animation he did at the VMAs and his locking skills) but he lacked a lot of vocab in terms of popping. No hate though!
now mr animation will show u real poppin with a series of hits and pops with some waves ticks hits drops that are in real poppin..if you can find a video of him poppin for more than a minute or 2 were he has to really pop and not talk to a crowd...hes the real deal....i dont know the guy but i met him back in 83 at the metro i was from tx and a poppin king pin ..(not bein racist) but white people has made ther own interpretation of what poppin is..they even call poppin break dancin..lol
dude you get the thumbs down for this video....if you think this is the best poppers in the world ,well u have some searchin to do....for one michael chambers(boogaloo shrimp) was the only popper on there...the other cats were wavin(now wavin is a part of poppin but that was wavin , the second guy in the white long sleeve shirt was tuttin(also a PART of poppin)the white guy in the black hoodie was wavin..now MJ was mostly moon and back slidin with wavin..true popppin look up mr animation
considering all the talent that you can see on youtube, i would call these guys very good but not the best, and michael jackson was not a popper! he only used elements of popping,
there not the best poppers... the youtube sensations, which a lot of people see, there a loads of sick poppers which are better that are not on youtube...
boogaloo shrimp,,yes,,wtf were the rest doing n that dude at 2.40 smfh " NO " pure wackness..this is false advertising if ever i saw it .....do ya homework...
