Today we’re going to discuss the ins-and-outs of starting and stopping your stitching. It sounds simple, and it can be, but there’s a few things every longarm quilter should know to get the stitching they like and how to avoid bamboozled bobbins.
Join a socially-distanced Johnny and Kim as they do a deep-dive on proper stitching starts, ends, proper bobbin thread techniques and even how to bury your threads for that finely-finished look on an HQ longarm quilting machine.

erosion of the machine feet!!??! I would have never thought that could happen! I learned to loosen the thread tension the way this video does because I kept breaking the thread and couldn’t figure out why it broke.. After the 4th time I took the time to figure out why it was breaking. Took me a while, and this demonstration confirmed I am doing it correctly now! Thank you AGAIN for these great videos.

I have a Sweet Sixteen and regularly bury the threads. Self-threading needles are marvelous for this. Thanks for the videos.

I love the self-threading needles for burying threads, and keep one in every pincushion I have, including by my Avante

Appreciate the Capri references for the starting stitches. Still not sure if the tie off works for Capri as well?

I have an older Avante that does not have the tie off option. Since I haven’t found a way to make a neat knot, I leave long tails. I hand knot them as bury the threads. I was hoping you could show an easier (and quicker ) way!

My Infinity ties on and off automatically and then cuts the bobbin thread
