The video about unorthodox and orthodox pomades would be great, and pompadour really suits you, and your style, so you should stick to it! As always, amazing video! Glad I hit the bell button long time ago.
@@ManForHimself Can't wait! Also, I would like to ask you, if you are planning to do a video about more sort of affordable fragrances, because we all know that fragrance is part of ourselves, our style, personality etc. Sorry, for my grammar, hopefully I've asked you this question correctly, haha.
Heh, when you started talking about the history behind the "pompadour" term, I got instant flashbacks to probably the first video I watched from you ( how to style a pompadour, I think). Has it really been 5 (or 6) years since then? Anyway, this video was as good as the pompadour was high.
Yeah, it's probably because I was quite bemused by the fact it was named after a real person. It's like finding out the quiff is named after monsieur Quiff, Jeanne d'Arc's secret lover ( which, although made-up, is now canon in my mind )
For the hairwash part. Get the shampoo in, and just comb through your hair with a fine comb, while slowly adding water until the shampoo is all gone. Then do it the second time. (if needed) It will for sure save you the 3rd wash :) Atleast it does for me.
@@ManForHimself Normal shampoo plus conditioner. I use kingbrown original pomade and that is a very resilient pomade. Literally conditioner is your best friend to wash it out... But why would you want to wash it out? Best styling is with a buildup
Some one may have mentioned it already, but Aussie Three Minute Miracle MOIST is the best product for degreasing oil based Pomades. Leave it in for 15 minutes, then rinse out. I use oil based pomades frequently for pomps, but have to degrease every night or else I break out (it's alot of work, but worth every second for the sleek style). I hope this helps someone! Love your videos!
I totally felt you on the pain of goon grease lol the trick I was taught was when showering don’t water the hair and scrub shampoo into the dry hair. Then wash out. Great video! My go to is suavecito firme or suavecito premium when I want a weightless/malleable product
Great video!! I do love a good Pompadour. That and a slick back are my go-to hair styles. I would love to see the video on unorthodox pomades. I love my pomades. haha
Robin James because I have thick hair, I need strong pomades to keep the hairstyle in place. So my favourite I’m using right now is Don Juan Hybrido. Which is a water based Pomade. But my favourite Pomade company is from the Philippines, called Eight Wolves. They make oil based Pomades and they are awesome.
I really appreciate the closed captions, since I’m learning English is more easily to understand what your saying hehe thanks! And thanks for the video!
Thanks for this! I’ve been wanting to get a pomp but never seemed to have the right products. I’m waiting on my pink Reuzel and can’t wait to rock this look!
Hey Robin I love watching your videos.. I was wondering what shampoo and conditioner should I use for my fine and super straight Asian hair to help achieve the modern pompadour?
Hey robin great video as always ! The only pomade I currently have is shear revival crystal lake pomade is that ok? I use since it’s easier to wash out but idk it’s just me
Becomming a greaser was the best decision of my life. I haven't used a blowdryer in months. My barber keeps telling me how healthy my hair looks and I don't degrease and use shampoo every 2nd day. Really effortless styling.
Very very informative, with lots of personal experience and opinion behind it. Please do more of these videos and less of those brief 5 minutes ones covering 16 different products.
After having a pompadour for years and years Iv always round the quickest way to get products like dax red and Murray’s to get them out of your hair is washing up liquid then a shampoo 🤷🏻♂️ always worked for me
Hi Robin, Great video. I have fine hair and use Reuzel Green for a pomp and it works really well and isn’t that difficult to wash out, though for some reason it works better on the second day after rinsing, drying and adding a little more pomade. I have yet to try the pink though
I'd love to see reviews about Reuzel's Clay Pomade, Fiber Pomade and Extreme Hold Pomade. I'd also like to see a comparison between the last one and Blumaan's fifth sample. I have a week testing Reuzel's Clay Pomade and it's very creamy, kinda sticky, but not strong enough to easily hold my hair in place all day
@@ManForHimself btw man, can you please tell me what is the best clay you have ever tried? I recently ordered BluMaan Cavalier Clay in search for one that works for me
Hello, you say to avoid Clays for pompadour, but i have thin hair and pomades high shine makes my thin hair look thinner, and scalp can be seen. So pompadour is only for people with Thick Hair? It would be so cool to see a Tutorial for pompadour for people with thin hair. I think a lot of people would be very very thankful for this. And i always have the big problem after makeup the volumen and starting with pomade that the volume will bes destroyed and secondly after finishing the pomp doesnt hold. I dont want to use Hairspray. Really hope you can help along.
i loved this video gives me an idea of what i can do with my hair, unfortunately a new hair stylist at the salon i went to, did not give me the cut i wanted so this would be the best i can do with my hair at the moment. i have picked up the suavecito oil based pomade it gives great result but my god is it difficult to deal with. it does not come out with clarifying shampoo right away you can feel the grease for about 3 days till its gone and you have to be careful because the grease can get on your face and you will break out. With that being said i still love the product and i plan on giving this hairstyle a try
Hey Robin, my blow-dryer broke and this will be the first time I'll buy one, do you have any recommendations in terms of brands or specs that I should look for??
Hey Alvaro. I've used a Panasonic one for about 4 years, but as long as it has different heat settings and a cool shot button, you should be good to go!
Hey Robin, Could you do a review on the Wise Glacier Clay Pomade? I would like to know your thoughts on it. Or even a brand battle including it. Thanks!
Robin, anytime I wash and condition my hair, which is about 2x a week. My hair is extremely hard to style afterwards. It falls too flat and products do not adhere well. Do you have any idea why this is? I'm assuming its the conditioner coating the hair but I have tried three different ones by now and the only workaround I have is washing and conditioning at night and then styling in the morning after some natural oils have resurfaced. I see videos of you guys getting some of your best looks after washing but for me it seems to be the opposite. Thanks. Edit: I'd say my hair is medium thickness
Hey, this is something that can happen. What do you use? Have you tried changing your shampoo and conditioner. You could a lighter conditioner to make it less weighty.
@@ManForHimself It's a hempz shampoo but Ive switched conditioners at least three times. all drug stroe brands though. Latest one is a tressemme. Do you think it would be the conditioner?
Goldven Yes. Oil based pomades are essentially comprised of a base ingredient (petrolatum, or hydrogenated castor oil for example), a wax, and a carrier oil - these carrier oils (such as coconut, almond, avocado, etc) are the ones that work their magic to smoothen out your hair. OBs tend to be healthier than most other types of hair products tbh
Furthermore you mentioned Shear Revival - usually homebrewed brands such as these take extra measures to make their products as beneficial as possible and are usually healthier than storebought products
Robin James Thank you so much and it is not that the reviewers are selling the product but they don’t really give recommendations about if it’s better or worse than some other products because they were involved with its upbringing.
