Thank you for running up the credit card for your fellow Doberman lovers!! Your time and research and Arlo's "HARD WORK" into testing these puzzle toys is definitely appreciated. I'm sure Alro didn't mind being the Guinea Pig Tester!! Lol
Lauren, I am so happy for you! I‘ve been a crazy Dobie & cat mom all my life, still buying all Christmas presents for my furry babies latest in June 🙈 Love from Germany ❤️🇩🇪
That's great to hear, Lauren! Your Dobie will absolutely love having some new toys to play with! Let us know which one he likes best after he gets the chance to try them out!
Super cool guide. I am from Europe and I feel like we totally rely on the american puzzle toys. Of course there are many on the market now, it's not like we do not have puzzle toys in Europe, but they are all the american brands - I have no idea how people did it before? Granted, until now I used to hand feed my dog her kibble as a training reward during our 3-5 long daily training/walk/fetch sessions, but I soon will work a 40 hour week and who the hell has then the time to keep the dog busy 5 hours every day. So I am looking for alternatives. Kong is really well known here, but if its not frozen my dog just power throws it on the ground to smack all treats out in one minute and if its frozen she ignores it till its thawed. And if I were to leave her alone with a frozen Kong, she would howl. If I were to leave her alone with an unfrozen one, howl after the one minute it takes her to empty it. I need something that occupies her for 10 minutes, because after that she totally has forgotten that she is alone now and couldn't care less in the world. Okay, I kinda rambled on there for a bit, but what I want to get across - thank you for your good videos from an European fan! (And sorry for mistakes with the English language - am not a native speaker)
I’m getting my dobe Jan 6 n I’m nervous this is going to be way different from owning an American Bully but I’m watching your episodes everyday it seems like now
Congratulations! I was nervous too. We were also first time dog owners and got a Dobie no less. Being nervous made us better at being aware of our dogs needs as well as training. Good luck and most of all…have fun! You will not be disappointed as long as you do your part.
Congratulations on your new Doberman! What a wonderful Christmas present to look forward to bringing home that new pup! You're preparing well it sounds like by doing your research before-hand. Send us a message on Facebook or Instagram if any issues come up. We'd be glad to help!
I go buy pre-chopped arms from the black market and stuff little milk bones in little slits I create with a shank. This brings out their gentle nature and keeps them from being destructive. Fiuuuukkc!!! can you imagine this? jk of course hahaha... but I create my own toys for sure to not rack up the bill, but there is some really good toys out there that are made durable.
@@DobermanPlanet hahahaha! we got to feed them the best brother!! I am kidding and will check it out and probably book a session for some great advice you got. Thank you for the videos.
My dobes all time go to favorite toy that has so far lasted over 18 months is the KONG Safestix BUT he only gets it outside, I wouldn't have a house left if he had it inside !
Haha oh man, Cedrick! Maybe a few of these toys would help: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_XGqxR4MFN4.html. Let us know if you end up trying any and how they held up!
Thank you as always! Could you make a video on great treats to give doberman? The one i see around (am in Mexico) seems very chemical and my dobe doesnt like them
My Male Doberman, Kaiser, absolutely LOVES his Zogoflex QWIZL. He's had it for over a month. I bought it as soon as I saw your original video. It quickly became hit favorite toy, and I'm so appreciative for this video!! Btw, love your videos and Arlo, can't wait for the next one!
THANK YOU! I had forgotten that I had a couple of these toys (Quizl & Kong) since my puppy was 8 weeks old, but he showed no interest in them until yesterday after I watched this video and stuffed them with his favorite treats. Now, he's almost 5 months old and at the present moment is busily trying to get his treats out of the Quizl. Perfect! THANKS for this reminder. On these cold, wintry Montana days where we spend very little time outdoors, this is the perfect way to keep this very active, high energy boy busy! Blessed Holidays to you and yours.
Hey John! So I’ve pretty much binged your whole channel so I feel like it’s time to say how much I can’t get enough of your videos! Hoping to get my first Doberman in 2024 and this channel has given me sooo much info about the amazing breed and how to be the best owner..it’s also got me soo excited I don’t know how I’ll cope with the wait 🤣 I really love how you not only talk about your personal experience with the breed, but you also back everything up with evidence too!! So thought I’d comment and show my support! 🤜🏽🤛🏽 (P.S Bloopers of Arlo make me laugh soo much, any chance of an entire montage of Arlo bloopers??) 👀
I wish my Moses liked the Kong toys. I have bought a few but he has no interest in them. 🙁 My Dobe is not food motivated, so even loading up these things with treats does nothing to spark his interest. I will try some of your other suggestions just for toy variety.
Does Moses like peanut butter? Some dogs are picky and only a few treats specific brands or ingredients. Hoping you're able to find some toys from this list that he really enjoys!
Your video on your five choices of dog toys was very informative. I plan to look for the best ones for mental stimulation and durability. My Dobie is six months old and is a very loving girl 😊. Thanks!
Love the Kong extreme. Wish you could help with a VERY SMART deaf doberman 2 years old- knows how to play hide n seek and search. Leash training not good agility course Cersei is AWESOME.
My Doberman likes to strip the fuzz off of tennis balls. She'll pin the ball down using her paws then systematically rip every last bit of fuzz from it with her little front teeth...she will also open up every plush toy I give her and pull all the stuffing out of the two halves. She doesn't eat the fuzz or the stuffing (she just discards it next to her bed), she just likes doing fuzz and stuffing removal for some reason.
My European Dobie is in the hospital after having gastric surgery for the 4th time to save her life. She eats her stuffed stuff whole as well as anything else she sees. Hey I want to buy all you're selling and you deserve commissions but I'm on my cell phone. I buy nothing from here. I do buy from my computer online or I'll phone to buy so can you let me know what to do and how to get them please.
Hi, i Need help!! My doberman sometimes bites my brother for nothing, he plays more with him and seems to be another dog, and there are times thaw without any reason growls at me. Can you help me giving me some advices? because I don’t know what to do sorry for the bad English
Does Arlo like to chew on toys using his molars? My girl destroys so many toys within minutes because she knows that’s how she can quickly destroy them. Also, love your videos!
Im looking to get a Doberman puppy sibling for my german shepherd dog . I have always wanted a dobie i just wonder how the pup will do with my shepherd
Warning for toy #3 - bottom of it is pretty heavy and hard. So if your doberman likes to lift things up and toss them around, be mindful of your hard floor and fragile stuff around
I have always loves Dobermans. I have an older female now. She's 13 and we hope to have her with us for a few more years. I love the toys you have showed us. I think I will get some. And BTW I love Arlo, great dog. You are blessed to have him!
You mean I can have a doberman AND leave for work!? I got the impression that they had to be by your side at all times or they would suffer SA and go berserk!
I'm always amazed at how some Dobies will hold onto a toy, and others will destroy the same toy. My mom's third Dobie had a teething ring that she loved--because it lasted a long time (6+ months). When the third passed, and the fourth came in (8 month old Dobie), that same toy was destroyed inside of a month.
Oh wow! Yeah some Dobies will be tougher on certain ones than others. They seem to pick their favorite go-to toy to love never destroy it, while others obliterate their favorite toys. Lol.
Kongs are so good. Im not sure if they still do it but they used to replace tour Kong free if your dog killed it. I know my Aussie used to kill Kongs like that and the 1 that looks like a street hockey ball on the regular. My parents GSD had that big Kong and he would take it to the top of their stairs and drop it, chasing it down because it does bounce so wildly.
Omg! This is perfect haha yesterday I went to petco to get my 8week dobe a kong toy! 🙈 I feel I’m not stimulating his mind enough so this vid helps a lot! Especially when he gets a bit chewy and nervous all over 😅
Sure thing, Jenny! If you try any of these puzzle toys, let us know how it goes and which ones he likes the best! He'll probably love testing a few of them for you like Arlo did!
GREAT VIDEO!! Extremely timely and helpful!!! (P.S. my bloodhound, Amer bulldog mix chewed through - to pieces - that Kong extreme in 1 hour 😂🤣😂 Prob defective, but imma go for those other options👍)
I agree, extreme chewer toys are needed but even my Dobie at 7 1/2 months and 75 lbs can destroy the level 5 extreme chewer toy in a month. So be it, thanks for the recommendations!
Wow! He's got a powerful jaw on him! Hopefully a few of these will last longer in your house: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_XGqxR4MFN4.html. They are great toys for tough chewers. Let us know if any work out!
John I really appreciate your hard work for this beautiful breed but I can't buy every of these toys for each doberman at once. I may buy the 3rd, 5th, 6th toy for every doberman for this month. May try to buy the others in the next month. Thanks for the info.
That's okay, Sampa! Totally understand that. It's definitely not a review for everyone to go out and buy all of these, but hopefully it'll give you some great options for your pack to have fun with now and some possibly in the future as well! Enjoy! You'll have to let us know which ones they end up liking the best!
I just want to say, all of you’re videos are great. I picked up my Doberman Puppy last week, and you’re videos have been helping me anytime I have a question about what to do with/get him. Even more so than Google😂. Thank you!
I joined your channel a few months ago. Have really been enjoying it. These videos help a lot. I have finally decided to get a doberman. When that will happen is still up in the air but I am now in the process of reserarch to buy toys, a bed and other necessities before I start to look for a puppy. I laughed so hard at ARlo trying to get the small ball out of the big one. Cute.
Hello Mr John. I need your help, can you answer to me please? Question: I am going to buy an european male doberman for apartment, how many times they need to walk per day and how many hours must be per walk? Thanks ❤
According to what I have read on the internet, they should be walked at least 30 minutes at a time. Do this at least twice a day, and if you have an enclosure that they can run around in, that will work off some of their energy.
Can you please do a video on doggy day care? We take our dobie in 2-3 times a week but have recently been told that it's the worst thing we could do for him when we thought it would only be beneficial, thanks!
The jolly ball with the soft ball inside, lasted seven years with my dobe who could destroy a wooba in less than 30 minutes. He did finally get the inner ball deflated and pulled it through the hole, but seven years is an amazingly tough toy. its also great for indoor fetch by rolling the toy cause it didn't go under furniture.
Our Dobe loves his Jolly Ball toy. We purchased the largest and he carries it, fetches it and plays with it. We have never tried the peanut butter idea with it.
The wobble ball you through out, my 8mo dobie loooved it. But I was afraid the house will not be standing in few days, and the noise from the ball plus her barking at it drove me crazy in less than an hour. As an alternative to the slow feeder I tested the Fable toy, but she somehow can open it. Still haven't caught how. It has been durable and she enjoys it, just outsmarts it 😀
Liv loves her black Kong. You can put so many different foods inside and it lasts the entire life of your beloved Dobermann too ☺️ Liv likes to drop hers to get the dried on food out 😳😂
The qwizl is awesome. I got one about 8 months ago and it’s still going strong. No pieces broken off or even visible teeth marks. My Doberman loves it.
That really loud ball that you threw away third is one of my Doberman’s favourite toys. It isn’t necessarily a brain teaser but she LOVES it. Looks a bit different than the version you had though.
Just what i needed! I just got my dobie puppy and have been watching your vids way back to prepare and man lemme tell yah idk what i would have done without this channel she is a handful!
The Kong Extreme was the only toy my Diesel would not DESTROY!!! What do you do for your dobie to have such a shiny, beautiful coat? I Enjoy your video's. 😊
I understand that to have a shiny coat, brushing may help. Also, feeding a high quality food with meat and vegetables, such as Purina Benefuls seems to work for my Dobie girl ❤. Her coat is very shiny. People comment on how nice it looks.
Yes. As long as you give your dog lots of exercise/playtime outside. They don’t mind small places to live. They will be next to you all the time anyway. When you move into another area, they will move with you.
Yes! Totally agree with what Suzanne said. Your penthouse is probably larger than most people's apartments, but the same concept applies. Here is our article on tips for thriving with a Doberman in that living situation: www.dobermanplanet.com/why-dobermans-can-make-great-apartment-dogs/. Hope this helps!
I have questions about my dobi. He’s about 9 weeks old and he won’t look my in the eye anymore or won’t listen to the commands he already knows. What should I do? Or what have I done wrong
Hey, Maria! That's a great question. If you'd like to, hop on here and schedule a coaching call or video so your issues can be given more time to discuss: www.dobermanplanet.com/coaching/.
