I have Barroth Vambraces X with Windproof +2, so you can get more than a single rank of a skill, it's just crazy rare. Considering you can get multiple rolls of +skill, I'm assuming you can get multiples of -skill too. So the maximum budgets would be higher assuming you rolled a bunch of -skill, but still limited by the 7 roll cap.
That is correct I rolled -2 twice. Once to 2 different skills so it was -1 to 2 skills. The second time was -2 to one skill that was lv2 erasing it completely.
So this system gives low tier armors like the kamura armor a chance to shine alongside high tier armors like malzeno. Artificially inflating its rarity in a way. Kind of neat and comes with its own drawbacks. But I like it so far.
That’s exactly what I got from it now. So now…. Do I go for the low tier armors and try to get a bunch of different abilities into one set but run having low defenses? Or, Lee my high defenses with little help. Honestly I love how they made the system. It’s gonna give so much customization. Best MH for me.
@@mkv2718 I suggest the Lucent Greaves. Depending on what exactly it is you're looking for, Blademaster or Gunner, you have 2 free points you can take off for a better skill spread.
Or the other way around, if the armor have that 1 skill that you don't need like if you are using close range weapon and that armor have 3 skill but 1 of them is ammo up, just roll until that ammo up is replaced by a better skill or the points go to the stats or slots
This helps me a lot actually. Malzano set is my favorite to use right now but my biggest issue is I have to use a talisman to finish off attack boost if I were to max that out. This tells me trying to get that still up on three pieces and two level one slots for defiance is possible and I should not expect more than that
I just got the Silver Rath chest piece to roll up deco slots so it now has two 4-slots and a 2-slot. It did cost the crit ele skill, but I very much think that is worth it.
Yea but whenever one of these skills happen it tends to decimate your defense greatly or attempts to remove the actual useful skill the armor already has or even both... Pain
He explained this really well. Im just stupid and understood none of it, but when I am capable of comprehending anything in this video... I'll come back to it... So I'll watch this video again in like a week and any other time I need to know something about the Qurious crafting :)
On one of my Barbania pieces, I got an augment that gave Wide-Range +1, an upgraded level 3 slot and an additional level 1 slot. Considering the fact that I've been using it in my combat medic SnS set, it's a godsend.
Also it'd be nice being able to lock armor skills during augments giving us a small amount of more control. At least we aren't forced to accept our Random rolls I appreciate this small amount of control.
You got the slots upgrades wrong, it doesn't upgrade the lowest. It fills in any empty slots first and then upgrades from left to right. A 4-2-0 with a one slot upgrade would become 4-2-1. A 4-2-1 with a 2 slot upgrade would become 4-4-1, completely ignoring the 1 slot because it works from left to right once all spaces have been filled.
I got a WEX upgrade on my Squires waist which essentially makes it a piece of armor that holds two weakness exploit and two offensive guard. Seems pretty nuts to me, especially as a GS main.
i found that you should have a spare piece of the same armor you use. That way if you get a good QC one a piece, use that one and QC roll on the spare for a better result, get one then switch to that piece to see if it works if not then you still have the old piece to fall back on. May be moot since we can choose to change but I like having a safety net if I accidently chose the new roll. Also might be good if you want to keep both for a different loadout to use.
I’ve been just adding a single one slot decoration to my narbushi set, and it’s been more than enough to add free meal, spiribirds call, and extra stun resist.
Thanks for the video! There is a mistake about the slot upgrades though: First, the game will indeed "fill up" the piece with lvl 1 slots. But if you have 3 slots already, it will upgrade the HIGHEST slot up to lvl 4 and then go to the next highest. Man, I wish you were right though - taking multiple slots from 1 to 2 would be insane.
@@grimclawnotch57 yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. The game will update one slot to its max, then go on to the next one. Cotton says in the video that it will always upgrade the lowest one (so first upgrade all 1s to 2s), which is (unfortunately) not correct
It appears to be weighted towards filling in an empty slot. But yes, it can upgrade existing slots. I'm not sure if there's any rhyme or reason to that though. The person who went from a 1 to a 4 was probably incredibly lucky.
@@LyannenHalbsterblich But it doesn't. It doesn't always fill empty slots and it doesn't always upgrade the highest one. I've had two rolls which defy your stated method.
Once during Augment, I got special animation and... +14 Defense (sparkling), +1 lvl1 slot, +1 fire res, Good Luck +1 (sparkling), Master Touch -1, Ballistics -1 And I got Good Luck on 2 other armor parts, so I guess it'll be great for farminig
I just gotten a + 4 deco slot on silver sol mail and the best part is I still gain 2 defense while only losing 3 fire and thunder resist and 1 level of fire attack. Now I have a triple 4 slot silver solmail and Idk what to do with it lmao! Update: I just got a cursed ingot greaves that gives +6 deco slots! BUT at a cost of 2 crit eyes lmao!
Are you supposed to try for a roll with less stuff then try for a roll with more stuff? In my experience, a new augment replaces everything on the old augment.
So if I did my math right, I could potentially get Valstrax gauntlets, with added WEX lvl 1 to max it out at 3, have Dragonheart removed, and get 2 lvl 1 slots added, with potential added defense possibly?
I hope Fexty updates charm editor to include quirios crafting would love to have a mod to set skills because the rng is so awful. When you have a useless skill and a good skill and the game keeps removing the good one. Seriously I want to lose the fire attack on silver rath for my not fire CB
so for Knight Squire belt, it has slot 3-0-0. What is the best possible slot extention I can get with it? is a 3-2-2 possible? if I'm clculating it right, it's 4 slot+ which is 6*4=24. Knight Squire has a budget of 16. That means I need another 8 points to compensate. Those 8 points can come from things like defence minus and resist minus. Am I getting it right? I wanna make sure if this is even possible before hopping in for the god roll. thx
Four slot upgrade would make it 4-2-1, it only fills in empty slots as a priority and then works from left to right. So it uses 2 slots to make it 3-1-1 and then from left to right 4-1-1 and finally 4-2-1. That essentially gives you "2 good skills", everything less than 4 slots is worse than getting a skill added outright (unless you specifically want level 1 deco skills). I personally have an added critical boost on mine and called it a day.
This is gonna be hell to optimize for Ibushi and Narwa armor thanks to the stormsoul. (Never mind that’s lame! Why can’t we have custom and actually optimal Ibushi and Nate’s armor. If the decoration slots worked for it I’d be fine with it but they don’t which makes the way they are handeled is super disappointing)
So wait, I'm not exactly sure how rolling works. Does it consider what you already have on the armor piece, or is it completely random each time? What I mean is, do you want to stick with a really bad roll for a while so that you have a chance of getting a really good roll? Or does it not matter what your current roll is?
ive hated this system since it was added, yes it CAN be good, by 90% of the time its just garbage changes or the same two changes looped or reduced(i spent 1000 points alternating between +8 and +7 defense on an armour piece the other night)
I was worried this video would ruin the magic of this system for me but now that I know that I'd need to fill a notebook with scientific equations to understand this shit I can rest easy lol
I manage to roll an item that gave a red glowing border around it. It removes a skill and adds a slot with a lot of defenses. Anyone knows what that means was it the highest defense possible?
Red sparkle means it is within the range of the highest roll you could get. It is possible that whatever you got was the absolute cap for that piece, but unlikely.
This is good information but Cotton once again is trying to spread information without doing all yhe homework. It is absolutely possible to get more than 1 point in a skill
Although you do have a bigger point budget on the lower tiers, so I suppose you might have a bit higher chance on rarity8 or below, but very minimal if any
Well at least PC players who use cheat engine will have plenty of stuff and ways to augment their armor until they get what they want or they will do augments the same way they cheat and get their God talismans
this update is just horrible, how people are supposed to share their armor set if now everything is completely random ? how people how don't spend thousands hours in the game can have pretty good set ? Andi think that repeat the same increases in a loop is just boring
Sigh.... So after several hundred hours just grinding rng for a halfway decent ( not even good) talisman, we now have to do this for every single piece of armor.... Great going this is awful. Also losing defence and resistance can just be awful. Remember when you chose armor based on what you needed, including resistances?
I just wish we had some actual control over the augment system, like we could focus on skills we want to keep when we roll them or we can choose to lose stuff to gain other stuff.
I can see the devs upgrading this system on future title updates in some ways, allowing us to lock a skill to reroll some stats or alawing us to chose where to reduce status to better the point pool for betther upgrades.
Broken? Yes. Boring? No. We could have so much more personalization that everybody will be able to use different armors as they please. Kinda like Fatalis' armor from iceborne but for every single armor in the game, literally everything would become competitive.
i doubt it will happen, but it sure would be great if they did that for talismans as well. gambling against terrible odds is not fun and only serves to frustrate players. idk why the devs went wit that. it's not like it wouldn't take a long time to max out gear if you could lock skills during re-roll. the way it is now, players will just say "fuck it" and quit doing the augments.
@@steffenaltmeier6602 or quit playing entirely, like myself. Clicking through a menu for hours isn't my idea of fun. Too bad because, the system would be great without the rng.
For a while on my switch axe build, the only thing I could upgrade was the almudron helm and the first augment I got gave me a level of good luck, so I basically didn’t touch the helmet after that
Went crazy with bazal waist and got chain crit and upgraded my two slot to three slot (lost a point of guard ,was running gl ) ,and now I can comfortably fit enough handicraft to reach purple
I don't think it would break Ibushi and Narwa, I just think it'd finally make them Mmmm, usable. They've been dropping the ball on those sets since they day they were made so I'm not surprised.
I think the real magic stems from using it as a MIXED set with another piece you have slotted with a bunch of skills, and then storm soul buffs those skills by 1.
@@EtienneLudor Your comment made me think, so I tested 4 pieces ibushi/narwa and an augmented 5th offpiece - still works with the default skills on the 5th piece, gets +1, but any augmented skills are unaffected. A bummer, seems it will only ever be comfort chargeblade armor pieces
your supposed to mix and match the narwa and ibushi sets based on your needs, sure you end up with skills you don't need but you get maximum comfort with them as you get essentially all the evade improving and stamina reducing skills automatically along with a baked in good luck skill, fairly nice for dual blades in particular. then you fill out things like WEX and crit boost through the slots. this system does limit them to mostly only wanting to shoot for slot upgrades but considering each piece only has a single slot each would help grabbing a few extra skills, if nothing else elemental attack skills that would not have fit in before.
@@Spphy that’s really unfortunate. Thanks for filling me in, I’ve been a bit busy so haven’t had the chance to go above lvl 34 inventions. … I may instead go for something crazy like removing all Seething’s Skill and slotting something useful. On the other hand, the extra slots would work out hand for defiance, drop defense and slot something interesting.
@@Howema ah, sorry if we were a bit confusing, but we were discussing 4 piece Narwa/ibushi and then throwing on another piece from a different set, level 4 storm soul still affects the set mixed in, like if you wear a Malzeno piece with partbreaker and bloodrite, you can get a free bloodrite 3 and part breaker 2 on it. Right now I run a Furious piece and get free Furious 2 with some attack focused skills and slots.
You can definitely get multiple levels of the same skill on an armor piece. I got incredibly lucky and rolled Evade Extender +2 on my Death Stench Heel X today. I have no idea how low the odds of that pull was, but I doubt I'll ever get that lucky again.
Guys! Guys! New skill confirmed! Fivine Blessing?! Is it going to be like an attack buff style Divine Blessing maybe? I can't wait to try it in a build.
Guys I'm pretty sure it was just a typo... They meant to type FELVINE blessing. It's like Palico Rally but all the palicoes are also high. Pretty fun utility skill.
This augmentation crafting helped me so much to finally make a good crit/tank IG build I've been trying to do for a while. Def+5 Crit eye+5 Recovery up+3 Weak Ex+3 Crit Boost+3 Masters Touch+3 Power prolonger+3 Divine Bless+3 Defiance+3 Peak performance+2 Recovery speed+2 Part break+2 Blood rite+2 Chain crit+2 Atk boost+1 Stamina surge+1 Stun res+1 Spiribirds call+1
@@Shazz64 I wasn't going for a full damage meta build, i was trying to make something a little different with great HP Regen for survivability but still do decent dmg (for the IG) and with dango driver u basically never have to use a potion so I can always be attacking non-stop which somewhat makes up a lil bit for the lack of certain stats not being higher like atk boost.
@@BKMY215 Getting hit should never ve part of the plan - at least I think so. Better to learn to just play optimal. But the dumbest thing to do is to tell others how to play their videogame. Go wild, dude!
@@Shazz64 Obviously u missed the part in my comment where it says "Crit/Tank". I like to try different play styles not just the meta. Also I never told anyone how to play I didn't even put the armor so if anyone trying to tell someone how to play it's u by saying "u should never plan on being hit".
I suggest you get some one slots on Ibushi and narwa anyway as you can easily slot defiance in there. Makes you a pretty sweet offensive and defensive charge blade powerhouse. Also, I rolled a chain crit on my ingot legs and that was a game changer. This system is dope.
My first armor augment was on the Ingot Greaves. Lost 3 defense. Gained a bit of dragon resistance, a level of Flinch Free *and* a level of Chain Crit. I will never augment them again. Perfect pants.
No. Each roll does all the plus/minus in that instance. Doesn't effect next roll. The more you lose the better the possible stuff you get. So lower armors have a higher starting point total so they don't have to get hit by stat/skill removal as hard as higher end armor to get god skills added. Plus they're way cheaper to roll on.
**Important Exploit Information** So I’ve been testing a few things out and the RNG doesn’t seem to be completely random. I turned off auto-save and tried to augment my pants. Gave it a few rolls and then instead of closing the augment screen just closed the game. When I came back and tried again it was the exact same 5 rolls. Not only this but I decided to reload the game again and try my other gear. Turns out it was the exact same rolls for that gear too. No matter what gear I picked the first piece was +32 def, the second roll for any piece was only +9 def, third roll was Quick Sheath and Para Resist, fourth roll only +6 def, and the fifth roll was -4 def +4 Thunder resist. So there is a way to manipulate the rng a bit which is something you guys should look into and let everyone know about. For example my first roll was +32 def so I pick a piece of gear I wanted extra def one and gave it to it. You could do this with all gear. Let’s say you’re trying to augment a piece of gear and get a good roll but it’s sucks for that armor peace. Well you can close the game and reload load it and give it to another piece. I hope you guys see this message because no one else seems to have talked about this EXPLOIT. Enjoy your videos keep up the good work.
So theoretically you *could* lose for example 2-3 skillpoints - lets say Spareshot and get 20-30 points to "spend" for new deco slots or skills, each lost skill point would be 1 of the 7 possible actions, so this could be good on armor pieces with alot of skills from which some are not wanted (best example the armors that have melee and ranged skills for some reason)
You know I logged into the new update and did all four of the new monsters (Who were great by the way, Lucent Nargy is hella fun to fight) but then I saw this whole OMEGA upgrade/grinding thing for all my endgame sets and just said nah not for me. I love love love sunbreak it is super fun. But the idea of sitting there farming Anomaly fights (which I do not care for) to pull a slot machine and hope my armour gets like +1 deco slot or something is just not my idea of fun.
I'm in the same camp. Re-rolling armor pieces like talismans doesn't sound like a good time. These numbers are cool and all, but in the end it's still just a slot machine for buffs or nerfs.
It's a pretty shitty system all told. I like the flexibility it offers in terms of the end results. But getting the materials is ridiculous. I'm on PC and so naturally I just gave myself tons of mats to start rolling (this was before augment mods were out). I've done hundreds of rolls now to test out the system. 99% of them are garbage. We're talking several hours spent just sitting in a menu, not hunting monsters, rolling augments. Normally a person would run out after a handful of augments. But they still have to spend those hours in the menu, just spread out over even more time spent hunting for mats. I hope people are getting lucky and getting good rolls. Because even a little bad luck could mean spending days playing this game and getting nothing out of this system.
At first I was the same way until I managed to create my God status set because of this. I was blessed with getting Gold Rath's helmet to a +1 in chain crit and now it has chain crit 3. This singular thing literally changed everything with my builds
@@PKshockwave I know this potential exists and have been in the process of making a build that consists of Golden Lune Helm, 3 middle silver Rath pieces, and the Lucent Greaves. I'm using the Espinas dual blades. If you take this video into consideration, I think you may understand just how good this set is
Got my Rathalos Arms a Attack Up and Leap of Faith with a bit less element resistance with Dragon and water but I'm good now with only need to level my high tier armor next I guess But Really Looking Forward how this will change meta and such
i haven't played sunbreak for a few weeks because i was getting burnout from all the grindyness, rng armour skills will make it worse, i don't think i will play it anymore, it sounds really long and boring.
So basically, Use armor pierces with useless skills for you builds and roll to lose said skill for slots and additional skills. At least my Para build set is cost effective according to the table.
One of my best rolls was actually my second - Anjanath Coil X got -14 defense, but one of its 1 slots turned into a 3 slot, and it got Evade Extender 1 and Guard 1!
Hey, the slots dont always go lowest to highest, i have a pair of Golm Greaves that upgraded a 2 to a 3 despite having two 2s and a 1. (it's full breakdown is +20 Defense, +1 Deco, -6 Fire -2 Water +1 Item Prolonger)
From my experience it upgrade the biggest slot first, if you have 3 1 1 and get slot +2 it will go 4 2 1, with +3 it will go 4 3 1. The biggest problem in this system is doubling of skils, it is realy tiring getting def upgrade alone like 20 times in a row.
I think in the future for “fixing” this system is to treat slots, resistance, and defense like the weapon system. Expend afflicted parts to upgrade these, but higher upgrades will affect other stats. Leave the skills to RNG so as a roll with an amazing skill isn’t offset by other stats that are trash. As for my augments, managed to put defiance 3 on my GS set alongside chain crit 1, redirection 1 and coalescence 1
An absolutely insane idea but I kinda wish I could augment my talismans... I know that idea is scary and makes me feel sick but if I didn't try to hard I might get a slot upgrade on my best talisman or something 😅
Now that I know you can augment base skills off your armor, I actually like this system even more. Nothing in this game makes my brain light up more than when I design a set that is 100% efficient, with zero unneeded or unwanted skills. Also, in a way, this adds blademaster and gunner sets back into the game, since you can augment off skills that don't affect your weapon type, to get purely blademaster pieces and purely gunner pieces. Edit: After trying it out myself, I'm not actually sure you can remove more than 1 skill point from your base armor. Does anyone know if that's the case?
I once removed one of each skills (my armor has 2 skills; one lv 2 and one lv 1 became one level 1 and 0 skill) and then that armor got minus all of the defenses lol the best part was I got no skill return 😂 💀
its possible but the chance of that happenning in conjunction with getting something useful out of it is terribly low. Angbata has explained it too but also provided the spreadsheet with the percentage chances of specific augementations to happen. My suggestion would be to roll until you get another useful skill or slot upgrade and leave it be. Anything more than that already requires a good amount of luck. And pretty much anything past that is only available to the hackerman. I do wonder though what a theoretical 100% armor set would look like. Like in theory the silver solmail can lose its 3 Fire attack for 3 levels of max might. The chance is just so low that no human will every see something like that happen to them.
This system makes ZERO sense. Why would you grind for mats to craft the base gear for it's own intrinsic bonuses, just to remove those same badass stats to hopefully spike one or two stats really high? LOL You're just grinding for blank armor stats in this case then. All armor should just be white with a stat budget and you just build it out . This is a lame end game system designed to keep bored people playing months later
This is honestly a mess. It would be bearable if we could spend more material to lock skills/slots Or lock the amount of Armour you have in order to always have enough points to roll for what you want. I wouldn't mind spending 100s of material in 1 roll in order to lock things and make a piece perfect in only a dozen rolls. Remove the garbage rng that you can literally just ignore on pc. It's not fair or fun. This isn't a loot game like borderlands to get the perfect sham. Speedruns are now just filled with edited loadouts that take a few minutes to make while other people with never achieve those sets.
do the augments replace the skills on the armor set? like an armor with weakness exploit and replaces it? or adds on top of it like giving it a second skill say razor sharp
