I remembered that Ban Mian originated in Spore by 秋莲板面 (soup version)。Startup location is somewhere at Jurong factory area. My first consumption of the dry version in Spore was at Yishun coffee shop.😂

i'm from KL, ban mian in our side have no eggs in it, when i first came to Singapore, it was so weird the ban mian taste in Singapore with the Egg =D, and our dry ban mian have 2 types, chili ban mian or just plain dry ban mian black sauce (without chili) in it.
It depends on where you get your ban main, if its the original chili ban mian then yes will have onsen egg, but if just a typical hawker stall style dry ban mian then normally don't have. Im basing this on kinkin chili ban mian which is the supposed creator of chili ban mian.
Chiu Lian ban mian i remembering was at marina square food court ...very tasty comes with mushroom..ikan bilis...when it first introduced. These days bian mian is not at tasty as before cos they dun cook it properly with the right portion of ingredients. Those ppl who have tried the marina square chiu lian ban mian those days would understand watvan talking about.
I always love eat spicy Ban Mian(soup base) at KL because i cannot eat noodle without spicy 😂, so if no chili i have no choice might as well request chill padi.
Maybe stop comparing? It can create a toxic feeling. Be open to different cultures of cooking and appreciate the local taste. It is all about preferences at the end of the day.
