@@danimal107 I agree after watching many more reviews on this shark iq. it is a mid range cheap vacuum with decent camera navigation and does not sense when it is full so does not go back to the base to empty. That is an important caveat. But, it is placed in the premium category at the top spot in this review. No. Here the shark iq fails in detecting its bin is full because it has no sensor. @@no.one.2 That video is incredibly biased and he put the robot in a situation it would never be in. I do agree though that thr Shark isn't as good. It has been amazing hardware wise but the AI or IQ is not as good. It will bump into walls and get stuck often. However when I make sure there isn't random things around my floor the robot does an amazing job and I can go a whole month before I need to clean it

Never in a million years did I think I'd see such a refreshing review of vacuum cleaners. Trying to find the perfect one for myself when I came across your video and felt like I was getting a breath of fresh air. You clearly stated any and all biases to start, all your tests seem empiric, and you gave a clear rundown without philosophizing too much about your cat/dog/grandma/... and how the winning vacuum led you to a better life. Kudos, you managed to get me to write my first youtube comment in over a decade, and you did it reviewing autonomous vacuums.

I agree, but I will definitelly be buying one for each floor at some point! They sound well worth the money! It gives you more time to do something else, and you have one less activity that puts strain on your back. I'd gladly pay $400+ for the premium ones! I'd try out the Coredy since It currently has a $28 off coupon, making it about $152 after tax, but seeing as how it didn't do great for the hair tangle test, that might be a problem for me since I have a dog in the house.
For whatever reason, I'm addicted to your channel. I can't stop watching. I think you do the best job on the internet when it comes to vacuum reviews. A couple suggestions and then a comment. 1) I'd love to see carpet lines when it comes to robot vacuums. That's really important to me. 2) I'd love to hear you push for voice controlled zone cleaning. Many will vacuum the entire house via voice, but I don't want to use my phone to send the vacuum to a particular zone. I'd rather just say, "Hey Google... vacuum the master bedroom". I think this is a much needed feature which is supported by no robot vacuum at this point. Now the comment. Really surprised by your clearly biased selection for the best vacuum. I think you know it too. For example, 1) Why was the Deebot Ozmo 950 mysteriously left out of this list? This vacuum tested highest suction of anything you ever looked at. 2) Why is deep carpet cleaning capabilities left out of the Neato D7? 3) How does the winner not have liDAR? You yourself said it's a better tech and camera will never be as good. Cameras can't clean in the dark which is a massive thumbs down. 4) How does the winner not have no go lines (unless added following your original review of it). You know as well as I do this is the most valuable feature of any robot vacuum. 5) Battery life, you claim it to not be important, I claim it's very important. Sure the vacuum can go back to the base, charge, and restart where it left off, but who wants the vacuum working all day, especially for those who work from home or are retired. I want the job done as quickly as possible. This also get's in the way of having the robot available for other tasks as you're waiting for it to recharge and finish jobs. I think you're really good at what you do. I'm not going to stop watching, but your final outcome was extremely biased. I understand you're involved with the Shark and you're getting paid on it. That should never affect your overall recommendations on machines, which , in this case, I truly believe it did.

Do you know of any patents that iRobot has that prevent other companies from going forward with auto emptying bin systems? It seems like it's the new big thing and I'm surprised that we haven't seen one from Roborock or Ecovacs yet.
After the latest update (android app) and a delete of the old map. My IQ finally works the way it should. Cleans each room, finds the dock from across the house just fine now. The first few weeks it was HORRIBLE! Glad they worked out the bugs with this one.
@@VacuumWars it is! It finally leaves the dock straight. Recharge and resume works flawlessly. Still a bit loud but I noticed the yellow fins are getting worn down from the teeth so that "ticking" sound has gotten better. It always sounded like something was in the brush roll but it was just the fins "slapping" the hair removal teeth. So far so good...and getting better :)
Can you tell us a bit about the power supply on the base unit? Does it accept 100v to 240v or is it specific to your region, presumably USA? I ask because I cannot buy the IQ in Australia yet. I can however purchase the IQ on Amazon and have it sent. So I need to know if I simply need to convert the plug with an adaptor. Or if I'm going to need a transformer to convert 120v to 240v. Ta
My irobot is the 980, was the “best” robot of 2017, price around 900$,and still after almost 2 years not 1 update in sight for mapping floors within the app! It’s a real scandal that Irobot does not bother giving support to a first class high level robot who was their top product in 2017!! My next robot will NOT be Irobot anymore and I have also the 540 and the 560. I like this review a lot and THANKS to the reviewer for all his hard work! It’s good that there are so many brands now, the landscape is much more divided and the likes as Irobot will have todo so more than just “sell” their stuff! Support and updates are much more needed at the end user level! Have a nice “clean” day all! 😊👍
I don’t think you addressed the part about having a flat front (in order to get the dirt in the corners) versus a round vac. Should that be a consideration prior to purchase? Or so minor it should be ignored?
I have one floor of hardwood and one floor of carpeting. I bought a Roborock S5 which does a great job on hardwood but it seems to leave some things on the carpeting surface. I want to have one Robot vac for each floor. There’s a deal on the S4 which I understand is terrible on carpet but outstanding on hardwood. Soooo... do I get the S4 for the hardwood and put the S5 on the carpet or is there some great Robot for carpeting I’m missing?
I'm deciding between black friday deals for the Roborock S5 ($360) and the Shark IQ with auto empty ($380). To me the main difference seems to be the Roborock has mopping and no-go zones while the Shark has the auto empty. Would love to hear your thoughts.
Congrats on another great year of reviews! My Neato D7 has been running like a champ ever since you did your review on it. Your analysis speaks for itself and I couldn't be happier. Hope Neato comes back strong with some new tech next year to get back on the podium.
So, the 2 vacuums I have owned (based on your analysis) was the neeto d7 and now this shark iq..... I have to admit that i loved the straight lines the neeto does (must be because of the laser) and It seems that the neeto may have deep cleaned my carpet a little more.... for each strand of my carpet looked like it hot thoroughly cleaner after running the neeto, as compared to the shark. All that being said, what makes the shark a winner in my book is evacuation dirt bin... but, if neeto came out with this same feature.... i would definitely purchase that vacuum and would be a clear winner in my book!
I LOVE robot vacuums. I've had 2 but my last one committed suicide by throwing itself down my stairs. I wish we could get the Shark Auto Empty in the UK!

The Xiaomi Mi robot 1st gen would be the winner in the low class, sad this one is missing. You can get them in the EU for about 220€. I really dont like the auto empty function so much because often things like toys or importen parts are in my Mi Robot and im still able to catch them out of the dust bin. Thanks for this nice review
We bought the Shark IQ based on your review. The mapping and navigation are lacking with the robot not accurately mapping our rooms despite multiple attempts. The robot sometimes gets confused when trying to get back to the dock or navigate around chair legs. Also the promised "no go" zone feature does not appear to have materialized.
Thank you for this. I REALLY wanted the iq, mostly because of the auto empty. However, reliability is huge. I don't want to babysit the robot. The other thing is mapping, I want to automate room cleaning (using pir sensors and presence detection with home assistant) and this requires good mapping and for the vacuume to reliably make it back to the charger. I'm really thinking the S5 Max will be what I end up with. Too bad RoboRock doesn't have an auto emptying version yet.

Maybe you can answer this for me. I have a Neato D3 and it will not clean my entire house. It only returns to the base twice to charge and then it's done after it goes out for the third time. Why won't it keep going out until it's done cleaning the house?

Whoa... wait a second. I am at 2:53. Talking about hardfloor-only robots and no roller brushes: My house has ONLY hard floors, no carpets. Should I remove the roller brush from my Eufy 15 max, for stronger suction?
That's a very good point. An important consideration for me is that the vacuum can clean under a large birdcage. My Roborock S5 barely fits; a slightly taller vacuum would not. That would be a dealbreaker for me.
VW doesn't seem to test complex navigation, which seems to be where the IQ sucks. He also doesn't seem to test for furniture damage, which is where the LIDAR based robovacs are superior. High end vacs are mostly going into larger homes with better than IKEA furniture. The testing here doesn't reflect the real world of expensive robovacs, which is how the IQ can end up #1. The IQ is priced low because Shark knows its problems.

You say the shark IQ is planning to get the "no go" lines mapping capability. That is a requirement in my book. I can not find anything on when that capability will be coming. Do you know?

After receiving the shark iRobot as a gift a year ago and having multiple problems I had planned on buying the Roomba i7+ but decided on the Roborock s6 and love it! It never gets stuck, mapped my condo (which is small 1350 sq. ft) after the first time and cleans well.
As it is really hard for me to make my mind up when all is presented that fast (and probably not with the same priorities as mine), i really would like to see the spreadsheet published which can be seen at 0:46
Totally agree, xls with simple comparison would be good to study and give scores by myself. Video is really nice but numbers and pictures and voice info changing too fast. Only women can multitask:) and I failed trying to listen and read different info same time :)
I'm not saying that the Roomba I7 is the best, but how bad it performed in your test doesn't fit other reviews. For example, it's said to have 17cfm, while your review says

The Amazon Reviews on the Shark IQ and some youtube reviews suggest that the vacuum is kinda buggy. (Doesnt return to dock or has issues with navigation). Based on your excellent videos I'd probably go with the Roborock S4 for my needs.

Thanks for doing this. I would suggest considering adding a 'loudness' test, as I have heard negative reviews on the Shark IQ regarding it's high obnoxious noise levels. Might have affected final scoring.
I saw an early review that said something like that, I personally didn't notice anything like that unless they were talking about the loudness of the auto empty bin system, which is loud when it kicks in.
K1 M1 The Shark IQ is nowhere near as loud as a lot of the other robot vacuums. It has an economy regular and maximum power level, and I swear to you that on a couple of days while I normal my Shark IQ clean my house and I didn’t even notice. And I’m not a hard sleeper but I will admit I was tired. Bottom line although I was not worried about theNoise levels, the Shark IQ is pretty quiet and I’ve had one other vacuum that I tried which was way louder that I had to retire because it didn’t know how to go back to its old dock. All my money is on the Shark IQ and I’ve done a lot of research.

Great review. One thing that’s not considered on any of your reviews is their performance over time. Have you found any of these to perform very well when brand new but have severely degraded performance with time, say in 12 months. Also, if some parts gets damaged, how easy/hard it is to get them replaced.
I have a challenge for Vacuum Wars. Take your pick for the best overall robot vacuum the Shark IQ into a real life multi room house and see how many runs it takes to have a map that the Shark app considers complete. I will not get into the frustrations I have had trying to get a complete map. If after completing the map you still think this is the best overall robot vacuum on the market I will feel justified in calling you a complete lying sellout.

Got myself a 980 a man what a stupid vacuum robot. Just bumbs against anything drives over everything.. No virtual walls,... Changed it for a much cheapers roborock s5. Day and night difference!!!
Ok. Roborock on Amazon is $360 right now. Shark IQ Auto Empty is $330 right now. I can't decide which one to go for. I love the bigger bin and self emptying function on the shark but I like the mop option on the roborock. 90% of my floors are mid to high pile carpets with my kitchen and dining only being hard floors. So obviously I want good carpet suction too. Any thoughts?
