C4 is on my list of finalists…but I think that Hefty Fabrications will wind up taking the victory for my purchase. I agree with one commenter who laughed at the question “Which sliders are the BEST?” So many are of comparable quality, and offer slightly different pros & cons, along with subjective opinions on the aesthetics of each one. It’s very good how C4 and Hefty Fabrications both have bolt connections underneath the frame, not just on the side!
$1,264 and a 14 week production time if anyone was curious. Super cool design! I've seen people with angled sliders complain about clapping rocks really hard and bending the slider just enough to catch the bottom of the rear doors. Something to keep in mind before offroad recovery bridal dropping serious cash on some.
Looks like a nice set of Sliders. I'm surprised they used such a square shape at the rear and not the rounded-off kickout that most others utilize. I really like what they did with the flat plate though.
Thanks for the video. They make a nice quality product. I used an ATV/motorcycle jack when I did my install and it made it so much easier. These things are HEAVY to handle alone.
Nice looking sliders. Personally I need a full top plate (little kids and their feet) so I like the cbi sliders. They take a long time to get to Hawaii though, so I went with what was available, Cali Raised sliders with top plate and kick out. Couldn’t be happier. I do wish they had oval mounting holes like your C4 ones.
I must be a total asshole, but I can't help the way my brain works... I watched the installation thinking: that thing is going to destroy his shins when it slips. The jack-stand portion was the same, but i thought it was going to fall on your chin. Please don't take that as me WANTING that to happen, but it seems like something I would do. My takeaway lesson is: ask a friend to hold one end up while I get the bolts started. Nice looking setup!
Haha yeah, it’s just to kind of to hold it there. I just ended up holding it myself most of the time. It’s much more sturdy than it looks on the jacks.
I wanted to have the step plates bed lined and the sliders powder coated and bolts unpainted on my taco - but that was way too much detail for my asshat installer. So I ended up with all powder coat like yours but no regrets on the sliders themselves. They are great. Just wish they weighed like 50 less lbs lol.
Never use rhino lining or any bed liners…dirt/mud stains..too hard to keep clean..power coating is the best…I regret rhino lining on mines ..yes they chip/peel..I have spray paint to cover the dirt stains..Aloha
Great video! Just got my sliders in and looking to install soon. Was wondering if you ever got around to drilling the two holes on the passenger side crossmember? If so, what type of power drill did you use? I’ve got a 20V drill and wondering if it’ll be enough power. Thanks!
Great content. Love the videos. I see that you own a 2015, and I'm currently looking to buy my first 4runner. I have my eye on 2015 TRD pro with 90k miles. The dealer want $36k. Do you think this is s good deal???
Honestly with this market it is probably not terrible...I was offered 30k trade in for mine when prices were higher and I had about 140k miles...I would just really follow the miles and if you can find it cheaper elsewhere use it as leverage! Also remember that many dealerships offer trade in and then add about $5k to make money on reselling it so thats my ballpark that I am going off of. It will really depend on mileage and rust at that point.
Nothing in particular, they make a good product. Mine weren’t angled and they often stick out quite far. I like that C4s fit snug so my pant legs are safe driving around town and I won’t get clothes dirty. But, they provide good coverage still and have the flat step plate on top. Just ticked all the boxes since this is my adventure rig and daily for my 9-5.
