@@DEBOSFishing sooooo..... I was a few viDeebos behind until.... last night! I watched like 5 or 10 of them all in a row after the littles were in bed while I wrapped a bunch of presents 🎁. Feeling a little more in tune with the world of Deebo and Dizzle.
A good tip for checking the inserts of a guide is to take a q-tip, loosen up the cotton a bit, and run it around the inside of the guide. If the insert is cracked, the cotton will get stuck and pull away. Got that from Mr. Roland Martin himself and it helped me figure out why my line was snapping on one of my older rods.
Q-tips are great for checking eyelets on new and used rods! It’s as simple as swabbing each one and seeing if any nicks or chips snag the cotton. There’s nothing worse than breaking off because of a razor sharp edge in an eyelet.
I have 10 FX rods and that one is my top 3. 1 being the 7’2 jerk bait rod and 2 being the 7’4 frog rod which is just as lite as that 7’1 your holding with that heavy power you want for snatching Bass out of the pads

See I’m totally opposite I love the bait keeper on the lower handle seems like the baits don’t get hung with each other near as bad in my rod locker. I’m with ya on the guides I’m a standard guide guy. Good looking rod
I love DEBOS fishing. It has taught me two things. 1: dont get married, it cuts into fishing time. 2: I am not rich enough to fish from a bank. Boats are cheaper if you account for lost lures.
I like the rod. It looks like it’ll be good to you. I just bought a favorite rod from tackle warehouse on Black Friday. Someone else mentioned it, I tried the q tip trick from Roland Martin. I never thought about giving it the ole shake test
I love the fx rods great rods I started off with 1 last year and now up to 15 of them from spinning by rods all the way to a 7’11” flipping stick all great rods the sensitivity is there wel balanced abs light and you can’t beat their lifetime warranty on them as well no questions asked just be sure to register it online with fx when you purchase the rod, I think you’ll be more then happy with its performance
Shimano Curado Rod 7'6" heavy flip on sale for 99$ got they during the BFS for under 80$. for flipping and pitching, jigs and a few other options. great guides and really plain matte black. you would love that rod!
The 6’3” medium heavy is a fun rod to fish around tight areas when skipping docks or trees and can throw up to a 3/4oz lure so a 5/16-3/8 finesse jig on Lake Martin or Coosa River here in Alabama is just a bad combo that’s definite for a good day on the water
Debo...when you are inspecting rods that you are unboxing, get you some standard sized q-tips, and run them around the insides of the eyes/guides lightly and slowly. If the guides or inserts have any burs or imperfections they will grab the q-tip and cause it to fluff up. I had this happen to me on a rod, my line kept breaking mid cast for no reason and I had no clue why...thought I had a bad spool of line but one of guides had a knick in it and it was cutting the line.
I know what you mean about the bait keeper, Lews puts them in the same place. I've been stuck a couple of times. I use the line guides, I don't like using the line guides but it's better than a hook in the hand.
I have a hard time casting light lures on my baitcasters. Even 3/8oz jerk baits can be difficult. Thinking about putting together a finesse combo but there's no clear choice. Great review
Nice combo, it looks great. A suggestion on another rod company is Temple Fork outfitters, small company based here in Dallas Tx. They have a bass line of rods. I use them and have been great. Oh yea, great closing music bro.
I just picked up a cadence spinning rod. I really like it. The one complaint is the reel lockdown screw. It barley screws down with the Shimano I’m using, so sticks out

Im a gray facemask, black high top spikes kinda guy, Old School. I'd like to see a mahogany finish, cork handle on a rod. Nobody does this. Also you don't see green a lot in spinning or bait casting reels. I remember old Green Johnson century model. That green just Looked like a fishing reel. Call me Nuts, but those new bait casting reels look like Toys. Like they should transform into a super hero. Debo Love your channel Fella!
That's where I prefer the bait keeper to be- that way when I put on a rod sleeve it never gets tangled in the hooks on my bait- also, when I grab a rod to carry it I'm almost always going to grab it right in font of the reel- so I don't want any hooks there. Also- when I walk I swing my arms and if I'm carrying a rod with an exposed hook in front of the reel it will almost always get snagged in my right pants leg, just below the pocket. Takes a pair of pliers to get it out of heavy denim and it usually bends up the hook and tears a hole in my pants leg. But- if I move it back to the handle like this one- no problem.
That is quite a broad range of lure weights that rod can handle, I would actually have to see it load up at 3/16oz. The only thing I would have changed, is moving the hook keeper in front of the reel, seems a more natural position, but I would like to hear the thinking on placing it so far down the rod.
@@DEBOSFishing 3/16 jig + trailer is essentially between 3/8-1/2 oz total weight. 3/16 hardbait with small hooks, that's a more accurate telling of whether the rod will cast this amount of weight well...granted lure aerodynamics also matters as does an internal weight transfer system.
Sexy set up and i love the lure weight variations my last purchase 7ft medium heavy fast action with micro guides 1/4 up to 1 ounce. Got to throw it a couple times before the cold set in can't wait for spring and get the new yak out.
Wow, that might be the rod I get to replace my Texas Rig/Jig rod which mine found its way to the bottom of my local lake when my Kayak and I decided to flip into the water..🤣
Great looking rod. Excellent choice on reel! I have one I use for my frogging reel. I agree with checking rods before removing tags. Ordered the 7'2 H SLX rod to pair with the SLX XT and got a 6'10 M/XF!! Not gonna work for froggin! Haha

Rod looks sick I have heard great things about those. I just picked up a St Croix Bass X in 7’1 Mh/F and a Dobyns Colt rod for moving baits hopefully that will fill some spots.

I hate when I get a new rod in the mail and the resin on the guides is cracked and the guides are ever so loose. OCD kicks in lol. I know it's not going to mess with how the rod casts but I REALLY hate shipping rods back. Actually waiting for a doomsday rod as I type this out. Fingers crossed.
Expensive lol and the Shimano FX Rods are amazing and 15 bucks on Amazon. I do believe beginner Baitcasting should be a 6’6 to 7’ medium action Rod, it’s more flexible and aids tremendously in the cast. Cool Video my Friend

Generally the rod. However, certain applications can warrant a reel. Some reels will throw lighter lures. Some have all aluminum frame and sideplates for heavier lures and bigger fish.
Yeah, I have always liked your take on the alum frame reels. Thanks for the advice. I just don't usually have the $$ for a full fledged $200 combo, so was wondering what you thought you might spend more on. So maybe the sensitivity of a good rod trumps a good reel...

Don't care about the rod... but love the lure/rod combo. I could really use more of that, which lures do you throw on which power/sensitivity of rod and with what size/type of line.
I tend to not buy rods with the hook keeper behind the reel in the handle. The only time I like it on the handle is in a rod that is shorter than a 6’8”. This is because when I have a bait wrap on a short rod in front of the reel it will push the rod sleeve up when I’m carrying it in a bundle...if that makes sense.
Good looking combo and of course you talk about a new one the day I went and picked up a new stick would love to see one on a 7ft med/fast and what you would throw on it
More jig content would be greatly appreciated! I would love to master the jig, but for some reason I can only catch fish on a swim jig through the grass.
It looks like a solid rod, I like how well balanced it is...proper balance is more important than being super light weight IMO. You need to check out sixgill and their BOGO deals, excellent products and customer service is the best I've ever seen, and not just in the fishing industry.
