Having heard nothing but horror stories about Invicta for years, I avoided these watches like the plague. However, upon seeing one of your excellent videos honestly discussing the pros and cons, I decided to buy the 8928OB. Well, to make a long story short, I now own five Pro Divers as well as a Grand Diver and plan on purchasing more. These are solid, well-made and affordable timepieces for those of us who don’t want to sacrifice their Roth IRAs for the privilege of owning a good watch. As for some of these watches being a Submariner “homage,” I say, “So what?” If I like the look of a watch and there is no way I can part with $9,000 or whatever for a Rolex, well, naysayers be damned! Good job, Invicta, for making these watches affordable and thank you, Perth Watch, for producing videos devoid of the effite snobbery that defines many of the watch channels.
That’s awesome man, thanks for sharing that and I’m really glad you loving them. I keep a number if Submariner homage in rotation and the Invicta Pro Diver will always be among there. They were some of the earliest watches I reviewed and still make good engaging content!
@@GaneshKumar-bv2td because maybe he likes them and wants the same watch but in different colors to go with whatever he is wearing that day to match....
I'm just confused on how INVICTA is paying "homage" to ROLEX or any other brand if they've been around making designing watches longer than almost any other watch company including ROLEX....The founder of Rolex used to work in the original Invicta factory before leaving and starting Rolex in the same city not far from lNVICTA original factory...I've always worn Invictas back to high school in 2000, Ive always noticed the quality of watches even as a kid...When I learned the true history of the watch company in college I've been loyal to the brand ever since. They honestly make GREAT watches and have varieties that anyone could like & afford...$alute & good review✌🏾
Thanks for the positive feedback. I think the Invicta origin is controversial, like so much of the company. The 1830s claim is likely a twist on truth, 1880s is more plausible and believable, and also what I've recalled reading elsewhere. With regards to this watch, there is no doubt that the design is inspired by (some would say copied from) the Submariner... hence it is an homage to that Rolex model, and not the other way around. Whether Invicta has been around longer or not is a separate issue. Cheers, Ivan.
I agree King, Invicta were providing these (not exact, granted) time pieces during the Great Wars so for folks to feel 'damaged' over the homage issue is a non sequitur, I for one don't get it
Invicta pays homage to the Sub coz that’s the most recognisable and copied design in the world. Otherwise I agree with everything else you mentioned about Invicta... indeed their catalog is filled with giant monstrosities, most of which should never grace a wrist!
Nice cut and paste job! Except their first waterproof design was NOT the Submariner FYI. And if that’s the “ultimate”, what’s the Sea Dweller? The Superman of watches I suppose!! Oh wait... what about the Deep Sea!?! :o
Perth WAtch Ivan that’s a great question. I bought my 9937 back in 2005-2006 . I think about 7-9 years ago they stopped making them with screwed lugs and sapphire crystal. The watch you reviewed is very nice but the one I have is even better lol 😂 not bragging but screwed lugs sapphire crystal is the deal . I love my 9937 and I agree with you other than steinhart the 9937 is the best Rolex submariner homage watch made. When I wear mine I get asked a lot , is that a Rolex submariner?
Thanks for sharing that - oh I have no doubt the old 9937 is a better watch. Didn't I hear that it also has an ETA movement? And might also have "Swiss Made" stipulation? The superiority is beyond question. As for BEST Sub homage made... I wouldn't be so sure about Steinhart though... many people put up Squale as a comparator, and there is also Ginault. And don't forget Tudor themselves! (if you consider them "homage")
Perth WAtch Ivan the very first generation 9937 did House an eta 2824 movement with sapphire crystal and screwed lugs . It also had just the word “ Swiss “ on the dial which became a very controversial subject in the Swiss watch making industry. My 9937 is pretty much the same as the original but they removed the word Swiss off the dial which was I believe was at the top of the dial. My watch has the sw200 movement and at the bottom of the dial it says Swiss movement. It’s actually a crazy cool story behind the Invicta pro diver watch and I believe Rolex sued Invicta at one point in regards to the original pro diver watch . At one point Invicta even stopped making pro diver watches with coin edged bezels and replaced them with scalloped bezels lol 😂 again a very controversial watch . With that said the Invicta 9937 is an exceptional watch . As far as the homage aspect you’re correct about steinhart there are other great micro brands out there that are making great submariner homage watches 👍🏻
That's awesome, thanks for the detailed reply - all that is quite consistent with what I have read about Invicta and the Pro Divers from other sources and also hearing from viewers here too :)
pablo rages I have 2 INVICTA RESERVE Diving watches one 8 years old and one 5 years old they are great value watches. Never had an issue with them. Probably cause they have Swiss movement.
I have a Pro Diver & a Grand Diver (with 47mm case), both under $100 bucks, along with a Orient Mako II for $140 that I really like. I'm happy with the Seiko & Orient mvmts in these which are solid, reliable & accurate, & arguably will go longer that Swiss mvmts without service. However, the one upgrade I wish both would offer, is not a Swiss mvt, but a sapphire crystal! Much more important to most, & really should only add $30 to cost!
I love mine. I own that exact model as well as the blue pro open heart. They are solid reliably built beautiful time pieces. Those gaudy gigantic tacky fashion pieces are horrible. But these are classically strong. I always get compliments and the invictas get just as much time on my wrist as my speedy.
Thanks for sharing that - I love the Pro Diver range, not only are they subjectively the favourite of many, objectively they are also their best sellers :)
I’ve had my 9937 for about 6,7 years,it’s been pretty much every where, river ,pool, fishing, done a little shallow diver, haven’t had any problems with water getting it in,I did however regulate the movement a few years back,it was running about 12 seconds fast, got it down to 2 +\-,,over the years they must hav changed the crystal out to FF,my was tested as sapphire, but all in all it has been a great little watch for the 200 bucks I give for it ,thanks for the review, happy 4th of July !
That's awesome man, thanks for sharing that! Someone else mentioned that this watch used to have ETA movement and sapphire... they certainly don't claim it's sapphire any more. I do think it's a great deal of a watch :)
Yea I think the crystal mite hav changed in 2017 when the rules changed, the 9937 don’t hav Swiss Made on the dial anymore,it has Swiss Movement on the dial
One of Invicta's amazing pro divers. I have so many Invicta's it's shameful. They all have some of the worlds greatest automatic movements. The world hates Invicta so bad that Invicta started a few years ago a vacation cruise down to the islands on a carnival ship. There are thousands of Invicta collectors on these cruises. Yup! My Rolex sits in it's tomb hidden away with it's papers of a King. Rolex wouldn't give you Oxygen if you fell dead in front of one of their AD's. Amazing video and thanks for sharing.
I currently own 8 grand divers 5 of them are swiss movements 3 of them are automatics I'm 10 years in with 3 of them they are great watches affordable eye catchers as well
I own the exact watch and it is completely reliable, and looks almost the same as my brother's real Rolex. You have to get close to see the difference. It is the best value out there with a genuine Swiss movement. The presenter did a great job with the review.
Nice looking watch for the money. I would like to know how its water resistance holds up when out swimming & snorkeling. I had considered the Pro Diver but finally decided to buy the Orient Ray as I have higher level of confidence with Orient Ray water resistance, lume and quality control.
Thanks Mike - I too would have say that Orient has better lume and QC for sure. The water resistance is also likely to be more reliable. Personally I have used quite a number of Invicta watches while swimming and have never had a problem.
Got a Signature Line 7042 Invicta, the Seamaster inspired day date diver in blue. NH36A SII running -2 secs a day at USD 86.50 out the door. OK, no 'Swiss' movement, no solid end links nor milled clasp but not sure the 9937 is worth the extra 200ish USD over the 8926 with the NH35A?
I think for sheer value, it's very difficult to find better than the NH35 powered Pro Divers which can often be had for $70. The Swiss movement version is nice, and has some upgrades beyond just the movement... but you're getting 80% of the "bang" in the NH35 versions for a fraction of the price.
Although Invicta is isnt the orginal watch maker as before, they still provide better quality watch (in prodiver line with nh35a movement). I rather wear Invicta than MVMT or Daniel Wellington.
I have 4 of the Grand Diver's with the NH35, and I had them regulated at my local jeweler, and they keep fantastic time. I do keep them in a watch winder, and are now like quartz watches. Yes...they are larger...45 to 48 mm's....but I have a 23 cm wrist...& I am a giant sized guy...2 meters tall...a little over 6'6". A 40mm watch looks like a child's watch on my wrist....so I wear larger watches because they look normal on me. Oh...all of my Grand Diver's are over 10 years old...and still look and run great! As with any automatic...I take them in regularly to have them cleaned and have them regulated if necessary. I try to take care of them just like I do with my more expensive watches.
NH35 movement seems extraordinarily accurate and of course a solid reliable workhorse Seiko. I would pick the NH over this Swiss and even the Miyota movements although all three are great.
I bought one during holiday sale, really was a bargain, it arrived yesterday. A nice xmas gift to self lol. It has a standard metal color SW 200-1 movement with custom Invicta markings on the rotor (different than in this vid), the print on the dial is a tad smaller and thinner compared to the one in this video and also to the Japanese movement version that I own, but most remarkable is the much critisized logo on the side of the case, it's laser etched instead of engraved, it is a lot smaller than I've ever seen before on various Swiss/Japanese movement and other Pro Diver versions, and not that deep, so it will be a lot easier to remove for watch modders. Personally the side logo doesn't bother me at all, it's hardly noticable when wearing the watch and even still, it's an Invicta, not a Rolex lol. Most people won't notice the difference anyway, unless they bend over to stick their nose against the crystal 😂 Ps: the bezel action on mine is rather stiff but since I don't dive (I don't even swim even though I live next to the river hahaha), and also own plenty of G-Shocks to use as a timer for boiling rice or pasta, I don't really care🥳 Another difference is the bracelet, I was hoping for an all brushed one but I have the polished mid link version instead (with male solid end links). Nothing a bit of sandpaper and a fine nail file can't fix, I will brush it myself after the holidays =)
My Invicta 9937 is 9 years old, it's running at -2s/day and the crystal doesn't have a single scratch, if it's not sapphire it's something just as good, definitely not crystal mineral as the lad that made this video says. I have 3 Invicta prodivers, with miyota and seiko movements, but the sellita movement that comes with the 9937 it's the best, hands down. This is my favorite watch, l bought it because I wanted to have a watch with a swiss movement and this one was the cheapest I found. Better than any seiko or Orient
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. The “lad” based his assessment on testing the crystal (it does test as sapphire) and also in what Invicta themselves say it is (“flame fusion” mineral glass). I have many watches that are near 10 years old that do not have a scratch on the glass - this does not prove it’s sapphire. If Invicta doesn’t say it’s sapphire, you should believe that ;) Otherwise, glad to hear you’re enjoying the watch.
Perth WAtch yes! Very much so! From diving, wake-boarding, tubing and even snow skiing, it has been a champ! I’ve even had people see it from a distance and ask if it was a Rolex😂 I said no but for the price it’s even better IMO
I have mine for about 4 weeks and I have to say It is great. Running about -4 seconds × day. Running better than some of my $400.00 + watches. You can go wrong. Great video.
Is the Sellita movement significantly better than the NH35A movement in the cheaper Pro Divers, or would you be paying almost triple just for a better bracelet? Presuming the case/crystal/crown are exactly the same on the cheaper Invicta automatics.
As a guy on Social Security (i.e. fixed income, pension) but a lover of technology and watches, I might just become a Invicta-only collector. I didn't know they had higher-grade Pro Divers like this with upgraded bands and movement... they certainly have enough models to collect! I imagine that would be a nice goal for a poor person, get a small but nice collection of the nicer Pro Divers or some of their more... classy designs otherwise.
@Perth WAtch I think it should be quite obvious Invicta is aiming for a slightly different client than Rolex? 😂 Sorry if that's not what you meant, but yeah. Look, I used to be into a "high end" product. And there were "clones" that were 1:1 identical. To be sure they were less complex than watches, but... the point here is... people pay a lot for a brand name. And that's valid... but a company can also sell many more units, at less price per item, and it can possibly be close to the same quality. I just think watches are not the same as cars. You can get a very reliable Toyota, or a Volvo, or a BMW. The differences are vast, all the same. The differences in watches? Not so vast...
Yes you’re right. However I think “vast” is difficult to be objective about. Certainly the difference between a Rolex submariner and this Invicta can be considered vast but nobody will conclude that the Rolex is 20x better for costing 20x more… for watches a lot of brands with allure charge a considerable marketing cost.
Mine had steel colored movement too. I wonder if they changed it as my bracelet middle is polished. Kinda of sucks because I saw this and ordered it and wanted the all brushed bracelet
I have this same invicta 9937OB, ive tried to modify the watch to look as a submariner as much as possible and the first thing i changed was the bracelet cause the only option available was the one with the chrome parts which i didn’t like and bought a submariner replica bracelet on ebay for it and ir looks great, also changed the ring bezel and bezel, is there a possibility to buy that factory non chrome bracelet for separate?
@@PerthWAtch thanks, Yes i also noticed that yours says swiss movement on the dial and mine does not, it only says it on the back side of the watch, do you mean changed the dial for an authentic rolex dial or that same dial shown in your watch?
Ive never seen your version of the watch, not on ebay or stores, did you modify the bracelet? The dial looks better than mine in my opinion, a better version of the pro diver watch, i wonder how many different versions of the pro divers there are
@@PerthWAtch and swiss made means? I ask because in their invicta webpage the 9937OB in the description says: Movement Movement type: Automatic Swiss Made: No Movement components: Swiss Movement Vendor: Sellita Movement Caliber: SW200 Movement Jewels: 26 Is it of importance if it has swiss movement but not swiss made logo on the dial cause in my 9937OB does not have the “swiss made” logo or “swiss movement” on the dial but its says it is swiss movement on the back side of the watch
There are strict criteria for what qualifies a watch to be able to display “Swiss made” - it requires more than just having a Swiss movement. This is well documented - just Google it.
I have one of these it is an excellent watch I used to own a submariner I almost can't tell the difference between the two if it wasn't for the markings it would be hard to tell the difference
Nice review. I actually have a version of this wit a Batman Bezel. It’s really not bad for the price. On a different note, -12 is not good for the SW200. Kind of defeats the purpose of having this movement. Makes you think. No advantage to the premium if it’s going to be so far off. The SW200 is becoming more popular as the 2824-2 becomes harder to get.
Yep, good points... I don't know why this is as badly regulated as it is... maybe they didn't try, or maybe it's taken a knock or two (this is about 4 years old, used). Indeed the SW200 and other 2824 clones are becoming more popular thanks to the Swatch group's nefarious decisions, and the fact that the design is no longer patent protected.
Perth WAtch I have also heard it’s possible a movements accuracy and drift, especially when the power reserve is low. There are several 2824 clones out there. The SW200 is the most popular clone. The STP movements are starting to be seen more often, Zodiac uses these on the Super Sea Wolf. Ronda also has gotten back in mechanical movements. I have never seen a modern Ronda Automatic, but I know they are out there.

Yep, indeed, several 2824 clones I am aware off, including STP that you've mentioned (actually reviewed a couple of watches with that too). A low quality movement will have poor isochronism (i.e. variability in accuracy, the "drift" you mention) that can be influenced by position, temperature, and power reserve. Given that the SW200 can be regulated to COSC levels, I think this specific movement has simply be knocked off kilter or was never regulated well in the first place...
I think for a short time Invicta was putting an ETA 2824 in these....but the Sellita is a very solid movt....by itself it's worth almost 60% of the price, so Invicta is pricing this watch very well.
Cheers for the review Ivan. Looking forward to a comparison to the Japanese version. I think its got great bang for buck. Overall i was pretty impressed with it 😃 Others have commented about other watches and thats the great thing... There's always just one more watch (haha). Cheers.
Thanks again for the loan Sam! I've been loving the wrist time with this - I think I'll do a comparison with the Phoibos and also a three tier showcase with the cheaper Seiko Pro Diver and a more expensive watch :)
Still a good deal, but they used to be "Swiss Made," had sapphire, had an ETA 2824, and seemed to have better lume. Shame that they started cutting corners because this was the best deal in the watch market (and it's still a very good deal, as is the NH35 version when found for $60 or less)
Oh wow, I didn't realize they used to have ETA movements AND sapphire AND better lume - if that went for $280 that would've beee one kick-ass deal of watch!! "Shitnite" lume has been crappy on every single Invicta I have ever come across...
@@PerthWAtch it was a pretty long time ago, vefore Swatch cracked down on their movements (maybe 10 or more years ago). I believe they were asking a bit higher price as well but was still an excellent value for what they were producing. Ive seen a few on the used market and they seem to hold their value very well (obviously people want the sapphire and ETA movement). I have no problem with the Sellita, I just wish they would go back to sapphire (even if it meant adding an additional $30-40)
They still use sapphire crystals, Super Luminova and ETA movements. It's just rare and even more rare with all three. Plus, you won't find them in any size smaller than 47mm. They use Sellita movt's because of availabilty.
@@guidothekillerpimp we are specifically talking about the 9937OB. I know Invicta still produces some pieces with ETAs and sapphire but not the 9937OB anymore.
A very nice watch Ivan which I enjoyed your review on. As you know I have two Invicta Pro Divers already with the Seiko NH35A movement, since I have owned them I have found them to be very accurate and reliable and enjoy wearing them in my rotation of my watches. To be honest as regards the Invicta engraving on the side of the watch it has never bothered me at all because if you are wearing a jacket it is covered anyway. Other watch brands do the same so its not a problem. Many thanks Ivan for another good review and greetings from the UK.
Thanks Ednam, good to hear from you again! With regards to the engraving, you make a good point about it being covered... however as you may have noted I am left handed and wear it on the right wrist! :)
Yes it is a bit awkward for a left handed person Ivan so definately difficult for yourself wearing an Invicta or other watch brands who do the same as regards engraving their watches. They can be modded though by removing the engraving without hopefully ruining the watch.
Haha yeah, some viewers have shared their modding experience on precisely that mod... me personally, I prefer to be able to shove the brand name in front of the face of the unsuspecting passerby and wow them with the watch! :D
Just wondering if you have noticed. Most new Invicta change in 3 to 5 weeks being worn. My wife has 3 cats and 2 dogs. I don't have a room that's clean let alone a "clean room" so I don't open a watch. Unless I'm sure I need to. I would wear it or maybe run it on a mechanical winder (also something I don't have). Not saying not to adjust it. I'd due diligence. I like this one. Joma wants $275 but is out of stock. I'm afraid some like this get cloned. I'll stick with US stores.
Fake info from Invicta propaganda - if it truly was sapphire they would’ve simply said so. It’s definitely not. Don’t believe everything you read on the ‘net ;)
Very nice watch and review Ivan. As the 9937OB has a good quality high beat Swiss movement it’s a shame that it isn’t regulated to about +3 to +5 seconds a day in factory. In my opinion, the rated -10/+30 spd is a load of garbage, possibly to circumvent having to regulate the movement in factory as the movement is bound to be more accurate than the rated -10/+30 spd and nobody would want to wear a watch that had that level of inaccuracy. I’m a complete novice in the field of horology but I’ve regulated my Invicta 8926OB to about +6 spd. I recently bought an Invicta that has had almost no exposure, the 8926BRB, a limited edition of 25000 watches which I have number 2160. The main features are that it has a sapphire crystal, a nicely aligned 2.5X cyclops, a Pepsi bezel, a near solid case back with a small round window over the balance wheel and a very nice faux wood presentation case. Strangely enough, it was about the same price as the standard 8926OB. If the 9937OB had a sapphire crystal, there is more of a chance that people would buy it. Obviously the Swiss movement adds a lot to the price but it seems to be no more accurate than the humble Seiko NH35A movement.
Interesting model you point out there - thanks for taking the time to make a detailed and thoughtful comment! It’s not difficult to regulate an NH35 to within +10spd, but the rated tolerances need to be there to cover a wide range of circumstances. The Swiss movement with higher rate will have better isochronism than the NH35 and the default tolerance is actually more narrow also - Seiko rates their movement at -20/+40spd.
yup, Ivan. SW200 for under $300.00!!!!! I have seen and checked out a lot of watches under 300 and this is the only one that has SW200 at under $300.00 Besides the name, it is a solid watch, just by looking at the specs. No one can deny that fact. Actually, I also wanted to buy one few years back, right before millions of micro brands started to invade the market. However, this one also has a lot of short comings. As you said, THE BRAND NAME, INVICTA is the biggest one and they also make the really cheap version of this around $70 range with NH35A with jingly bracelet & clasp which I really hate. Everyone knows this watch and what this watch and the brand represent, so there is no point going over each specs, designs and so forth. One of my regrets on Invicta is that they truly have great buying power from parts factories around the world since they are a big company in low to mid end market. I just wonder why they do not set up another "series" (like Invicta Reserve.. but that became shit too in last few years) or another brand name under Invicta to develop and make a good watch lines to go after all the micro brands who are struggling to meet the price points. They can make a Homage line like this watch or make their own designs (I guess for this they need to fire most of current designers and hire new ones, ha ha ha)... Thanks for the review, Ivan. good day to you.
Thanks Alex... indeed they have the buying power and size to match specs and out-price the micros, and I do wonder why they haven't done so... I wonder the same with Seiko too actually, who are even bigger! Hahaha yeah agreed... to start making a good original line they will need to "revise" their cabinet of designers!!
MrZZooh-I did the same last week (8-1-2023).It was $170.75, including tax & shipping. I think it was a fair price. The watch is much nicer than I had expected, especially the finishing of the case. Only negative is the lume. Helluva nice watch for the price, in fact it would be a helluva nice for twice the price!
I own one of these and also the one with the NH 35. I’m not sure about 200 meters of diving but I do wear this one swimming. I really like the watch. I have a Rolex Sumariner 1680 which I’m selling . Ive been building watches from parts on the internet and now have too many..
I would love to get this- at least this is a legit swiss watch with swiss movement. Finally invicta. Although there is nothing wrong with 8927s with nh35a movement, still i would like to have that swiss movement.
Phoibos PY007C with a Miyota 9015 high beat any day over this. Ceramic lumed bezel, Sapphire crystal, solid end link milled bracelet, 300m water residence (an actual dive watch)... Got mine for $285... Can't beat that for a beautiful watch Edit for typo
Yep, ceramic and sapphire are nice updates indeed... the Miyota is not quite a match for the SW200 though, and this Invicta also has solid end-links, bracelet itself is pretty much on par. Do you actually think the PY007 is 600m resistance? You must be reading something wrong...
I'll tell you exactly why Invicta sets the RRP so absurly high. Perfect example, if you go on a low end cruise (like Carnival) you will probably find an Invicta AD onboard. If you attend one of the demos they do every morning, you will notice they're claiming to sell watches at half off or 2/3 off for $400-500. So it's for the benefit of these predatory dealers selling to (probably drunk) customers who don't know any better.
I’ve heard about those cruises... but if it is as you say, it wouldn’t have mattered what the MSRP is. They can just set some ridiculous price on the cruise shops, and claim heavy discount - that would spare insulting enthusiasts like us.
I would take my Glycine Combat Sub (GL0076) over this any day. Picked it up at Costco for $289.99. Actual Sapphire crystal, Superluminova, Swiss made and not just Swiss movement, nice slim case at 10.5mm and, most importantly, no cyclops!!! Yes, I know that Glycine is owned by Invicta now, but it’s like having a Lexus as compared to a Toyota - there may not be anything wrong with the Toyota, but the Lexus is definitely nicer, and I know which one I would pick at the same price.
For the same price a Combat Sub is definitely better... but like Lexus it's usually not at the price as the Toyotas. Invicta upgraded a few things here above their Seiko Pro Diver but I think they really should've given sapphire.
Invicta brand even has diamond and tourbillion watches at affordable prices but take note those tourbillions use Chinese movements. Not the Swiss movements that costs millions of dollars! 😁
The movement is solid and dependable. My problem with the Invicta dive series is the case and watch. The finish is just not up to par with other watches in the same price catagory. Watches are not solely about movement, it is about a complete package.
A bit cheap looking. Mainly the dial and logo, and not a fan of their engraving on side of case. Homage doesn't bother me so much on the very rare and discontinued models. Spend a little more and get a Steinhart imo.
In hand I do think it looks as good as anything at the price range, and even higher, thanks mainly to the stolen design. And yes, I do agree that a little more for a Steinhart is worth the stretch!
@@PerthWAtch so many micro brands with better specs, sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, solid end link's,way better lume for the same amount of money or less price ! OH & by the way,no stupid engraving on the side of the case !!!! I will pass on this typical invicta pro diver !
Yes absolutely - micro-brands compete at a different level, they simply have to stand out or get trampled. For those who like it, Spinnaker and StarKing do offer the sexy engraving on the side of the case :D
Invicta brand plays with the specs and the pricing. You have to be knowledgeable with watch specs to spot a bargain. Invicta uses Swiss , Japanese and Chinese Automatic and Quartz movements. 😅
Invicta may be the Donald Trump of watch brands, that's just fine by me... I still love my Pro Divers. The Selita SW200 looks very cool with that gun-metal Invicta rotor. Thanks for the review Ivan.
It's hard to trust a person without a strong sense of integrity (most people). You never know when they will revert to their propensity to take the easy way out, to become opportunistic, to "cost-cut." Same with companies (most, like people, who of course run them, lack a strong, particularly imperturbable, sense of integrity). Most will cut corners for the ultimate, sacred goal of maximizing profits. Invicta, you get the distinct sense, is a company that epitomizes this shysterish modus operandi. They don't care about things like the claims they make about water-resistance, e.g., about things like the type/grade of materials they use, the reliability/longevity of their products, etc. It's a company that cares immeasurably more about marketing than quality. The stink of it permeates the company, and it's inescapable. It's in everything about how they run their business; it's not merely a "stigma." The SW200 seems to be a good movement. But you can, occasionally, pick up a genuine 2824 for under $300, from more reputable brands such as Certina, Tissot, etc., no less. Granted, they may not be 200-meter divers, but then a 200-meter water-resistance claim on an Invicta "diver" may not be worth the ink on the instruction booklet the claim is printed on. So, caveat emptor. I do appreciate the sense of fairness you display in your videos.
Very well said thoughts there, thanks for that. I think a lot of that is true about Invicta, including the cost-cut claims and questionable quality... despite that however the 40mm Pro Diver specifically still stands out for me. When considering the case, finish, and movement you get in the $70 NH35 version, it blows nearly everything else in that price range out of the water. The questionable water resistance is an odd strategy to me... on one hand I really can't blame a company for having a goal of maximizing profits (you could argue that not doing so would be a disservice to shareholders!), but surely eroding your reputation does not equate to maximal success (and profits) in the medium to long term...
I've owned many. I think the reason the brand gets disrespected is two reasons. First, it's all the gaudy and outlandish designs that come out. The bulky designs with the cables and bolts and the jokers face and on and on. Hard to take that seriously. The second reason, is that people love to be disrespectful on the internet. Not just about this brand but every brand. And every movie. Every kind of food, shoes, cars, fingernail polish and on and on. It's like a mental illness. Out of all the choices in the world some people will make disrespect their FIRST choice. A fact of human nature that's very unfortunate. Invicta watches are built like tanks and will outlive you. If you don't like the brand, piss off to the seiko page🤷🏻♂️
Thank you for the comment. I think there is truth in what you have stated, however I would add that one big factor that puts people off is their ridiculous pricing strategy - they are perhaps the only brand that puts an MSRP of $800 on watches that in reality sell for less than $80.
I love how everyone has to add a disclaimer about the horrible watches Invicta makes before agreeing they make a few acceptable ones... For all practical purposes this looks exactly the seiko embodied 40mm or the 47mm Grand Pro version. Invicta says the glass is, "Sapphire coated" I'm sure they had fingers crossed when they wrote that so its not a lie. AND! They are actually selling for $300usd without Ceramic, Sapphire and still the worthless lume? Excuse me, they should have added all 3, in addition to the solid end links and machined clasp. Come on! How much would it cost to put decent lume on it. I was looking at Amazon for current pricing and ran across a new one, well, new to me. The Model #25821 Master of the Ocean! Yee Haw! They are at it again, Rolex branded their newer line with ROLEX all around the bezel or chapter ring. Guess what, so did Invicta look it up. And they are asking for $89 to $95 for this lovely "QUARTZ" thing.
Yep indeed... that's almost exactly what I griped about Seiko Divers (no ceramic, sapphire, crappy bracelets) and there were no end of people who jumped to justify these "decisions", in pieces up to $500 mind you! So it looks like it comes down to brand establishment and ability to sell regardless of these factors. Haha yeah Rolex all the way around the flange (or rehaut if you prefer)... I noted those too and of course inevitable that the homages will follow suit :)
Interesting - fair enough to consider those better, but why specifically do you think so? "Cheaper" is not a matter of opinion however... can you find a link to show me that they are cheaper? Especially the Tisell, that is no longer obtainable at this price range last time I checked!
Without eye catching indication of Swiss movement, everyone will think you are wearing a Japanese movement sub-100 dollars version. Dumb move for Invicta on this one.
@@PerthWAtchthe huge Invicta Logo on the side of the watch and the wings on the dial are no way to be missed. Are you sure those folks were not sacastic on rich want to be action of you wearing such?
Come on, now. Go to Richard Perrett's channel. You'll see a mint version of this watch positively pop under half the pressure it's rated. Look, you can get it wet, swim with it and snorkel, but it's not a dive watch. Most people will never get it any deeper than the bottom of the swimming pool, and it'll be fine. They're very attractive timekeeping billboards. Love the look of it, enjoy wearing it, but let's not pretend that it's something that it's not. Just to put a fly in your marmite, I'll hazard that the Parnis Deep Sea is a better "dive" watch AND Rolex homage than this Invicta ... for less than half the price. I actually got one after seeing one of your Parnis reviews and it gets as much wet wrist time as my Squale 1545.
Nice to know that someone's shared testing results, that's the first I'm aware of that. I would say that most people will never get *any* watch deeper than the bottom of a pool, not something reserved for this piece or any other "pretend diver" or real dive watch specifically ;)
You know you say that but...... I just watched a video where a invicta prodiver was put under pressure that equaled 180 ft and it held fine and I trust it and my grand diver which is good to 300 meters so you can say anything you want and hey if infact you did see this I could have been a lemon watch if you’ve seen this please share the link don’t just say it show us!
