@@koniroyval7467 have you managed it yet? I'm very good mechanically but I can't get mine to work. I have other machines w threaders and had no trouble, even replaced them on 2 diff machines. It seems that there is no hook on the wire bc I got the wire to go through the eye but it won't catch the thread.

You explained the free motion quilting with ruler so well, I have seen others, but didnt show how they did it. Thank you! Will I get the foot, ruler set and mat with the Jazz 2 sewing machine? I don't want to spend alot on the machine and then have to spend more on the things I need for free motion quilting. I have a lot of health issues, I take 12 medicines, so money can be tight for us. Thank you for being so helpful. Sharon

I bought my Jazz 2 in February and it was a promotion sale. It came with the extra attachment feet, and the normal standard attachments. Because it was a special sale I got a rolling carrying case. The free motion items she used in the video are extra purchases.

I have the baby lock Jazz II and I love this machine but I have tried numerous times to free motion quilt and the tension is always messed up on the underside no matter what I do to try and fix it. Top looks great, underside is a skipped jumbled up mess. I want a video addressing this issue with complete machine set up instructions. I want you to use a full sized quilt in the demo. Using this placemat size quilt is deceiving as to the ease of doing this. I wish this machine had a veritable speed control on it and a thread cutter option would be nice. Patiently waiting for the Jazz III to come out with these options added.

From a brand new owner w yrs of sewing on various machines: Wow, yes, poor instruction manual. Someone didn't know how to write for ppl who don't already know the machine! It's not BAD, but there are odd little bits in the threading path that a thread could go over or under, to the right or left, etc. I used to think, how could anyone have trouble threading a machine? Now I see that even us geniuses aren't mind readers.😉 The first day, the needle up/down button suddenly stopped responding, but the next day it started again (a wire inside was being pressed probably from the machine being bounced around in transit although it could be a flaw, time will tell.). The wire w the hook was smashed to one side so it wouldn't go through the needle eye to hook the thread to pull it through the needle. I spent quite some time trying to get it to work but had to give up. Fortunately, I'm pretty good w manual threading.🙄 Turning the stitch selection knob is a bit rough on arthritic wrists, especially if the stitch you want is 14 of 28! The top panel and accessory tray compartments could be easier to open as they are a bit hard on the hands as well. But the machine is SO much fun. The knee control is well placed and easy to operate, and the big reverse lever is a brilliant idea, especially bc you have no lock stitch. You have to get used to the fact that everything isn't "at the touch of a button" if you are used to computerized machines, but it is a real workhorse, solid, stable, and forms good stitches. Best of all, the feed dogs pull the fabric STRAIGHT as you sew so those 1/4" seams are a snap to perfect. I'm on my first project and haven't quilted it yet, but I did try out all the functions, stitches and feet. Everything worked ok so I'm looking forward to spending these cold winter days playing w my new toy!🤗

@@grandmalovesmebest have you figured out what tension etc for free motion quilting? I’m having trouble figuring it out

I bought my Jazz 3 years ago and it has been in the shop twice. The first time the timing was off. Now it is skipping stitches and back in the shop. I find the tension hard to adjust and must play around with it every time I start a new project. I paid 999 for this machine and when I can get it to work with proper tension it is good as long as I use the slider surface.

Help! I’m having the same issue as Ronni K (1 yr ago). The free motion foot works great but the ruler foot doesn’t. Ok from left to right but from the right to the left it breaks thread, skips stitches………I’ve done all of the typical troubleshooting--needles, thread, clean, adjust tension all combinations. I’m ready to sell machine. Please provide some solution. Thank You.

Great! You can order solely the foot. You'll just want to make sure that the rulers you use are compatible and aren't too thin and slip under the foot. Obviously, that would not be good! Best wishes!!

@@babylocksewing , I've had my Jazz 2 for about 3 months, and it doesn't matter how many videos I watch, the problem is in the tension. I've tried most all fixes that have been recommended, but having tightened the top tension to 9, there are still small loops of the top thread on the underside of the quilt sample. Very frustrating. Thankfully, I love her for standard machine quilting, straight lines.

@Tanya99503
@Tanya99503 6 лет назад
What stitch length would you recommend?
@babylocksewing
@babylocksewing 6 лет назад
Sorry for the delay! I asked one of our quilting experts here! She said, stitch length depends on the weight of thread used and the thread weight depends on the size of the quilting motifs. For most quilting, an average stitch length of 2.5 to 3 works well. If you are quilting very small motifs, a shorter stitch length of 2 or even 1.6 may give you smoother curves and you would also want a finer thread (60wt). If you are using a heavy decorative thread (12wt), then you would want a longer stitch length of 3.5 to 4 and a larger quilting pattern would work better so the curves are still smooth. Thanks for asking; hope this helps!
